#3248620 Why this game is getting worse.

Posted Reckful on 19 May 2011 - 09:48 PM

since a lot of people think this is serious

1) i actually didn't do any of this stuff
2) i don't care about vileroze

edit:
as for my opinions on wow,
1) i dislike instant CCs in the game (even blind)
2) i'm against death's advance (and similar effects on DPS classes)
3) i dislike healers being trained in 3s (when killed & when oomed from being trained)

#3240668 A thread

Posted dredhed on 15 May 2011 - 10:04 AM

Yes the game still requires skill. But its much less of a factor than it used to be.
I quit the game during season 4 (held 1st on bg9) and didn’t come back to the game until early this season, which means I never played WoTLK. So maybe its easier for me to make the comparison between now and then, since I haven’t been here for all the gradual changes to the game.

Back in BC it was much easier to tell the difference between a decent player, and an exceptional player.  The game had enough depth, for those exceptional players to be able to shine repeatedly throughout a single arena match. Blizzard for one reason or another, has removed many of the features/abilities which enabled exceptional players to distinguish themselves from the rest. Ie:

- Spell Downranking: this was probably one of the best features of BC. Rank 1 debuff stacking was not something everybody did. You would be amazed at how few even high ranking teams did this effectively. Mages could get off a quick 1 second fb for kiting, druids rank 1 ff etc. And it would inspire threads on AJ like: http://www.arenajunk...ruid-questions/
- Stance dancing: http://www.wowwiki.com/Stance_dancing
- Dispel Cover: Still in the game but to a much lesser degree. Even this was something that not all so called “top players” did properly, see: http://www.warcraftm...ew.php?id=91657 (@ 9mins).
- Trash Buffs: Decent players would re-apply trash buffs mid battle to cover other important buffs/hots. Again not something everyone did.
- Less INSTANT CC’s: Take no skill to use, unavoidable by even the best players. Bad for the game. Though I think blizz has acknowledged this and is gradually removing them.
- Devour magic: Probably only important to me cause I play a lock but one of the main ways I could tell an average lock from a good one, was how good they were at using this ability.

These are just some of the things that Blizzard have removed from the game in the name of making it simpler for the majority. All of what I mentioned above are things people would come to this forum to discuss and learn about. People would come to AJ specifically to learn and discuss how to best play their class or comp. Discussion like that is rare on AJ these days… Why? Because the game isn’t complicated enough to warrant it.

#3223718 4.2 introduces Heroic PvP gear

Posted KennyEU on 05 May 2011 - 04:36 PM

Obviously a bad change, arena should be fought on equal footing, not with gear (dis)advantages for some.

Not that it really matters though, the game is unbalanced anyway, so some more imbalances don't matter too much.

Interrupts are fine. The only exception is when a restoration shaman is involved.

#3193642 4.1 Resilience Changes

Posted Literacola on 20 April 2011 - 09:55 AM

To sum it up quickly:

If you have exactly 3094 resilience, you will notice no change.
If you have over 3094 resilience, you will lose survivability with 4.1.
If you have less than 3094 resilience, you will gain survivability with 4.1.

Just to clarify, the 4.1 change does not add any "sweet spot," "soft cap," or anything of the sort for resilience. It simply changes how resilience scales.

In general, this means that you will need to stack more resilience. Resilience is still really good.

Specifically, this is the change:

4.06 Resil Reduction:
Reduction % = Resilience / 95.21492

4.1 Resil Reduction:
 Reduction % = (1 - (1/(Resilience Rating*0.000155576 + 1))) * 100

This is the key graph. It shows your life expectancy post patch compared to pre-patch. At 100%, you will live just as long post-patch as you did pre-patch. At 90%, you will die in 90% of the time that it took you to die pre-patch. In other words, if you lived for 10 seconds in a particular situation, you will now live for 9.

Posted Image

Essentially, the change is that your "effective health" scales linearly with resilience (similar to armor). Effective health is the amount of damage you can live through. For example, if you have 20% reduction from resilience, you will take 80% damage. This means that an enemy has to do 125% of your health in unmodified damage to kill you. Below are graphs that compare the changes in damage reduction and effective health.

Finally, here's a chart showing how much extra resilience you'll need to add to retain your current damage reduction. For example, if you are at 3500 resil, you have 36.76% reduction. If you want to stay at 36.76 reduction in 4.1, you will need to add an additional 236 resilience.

well, I want to get rid of premed icons and be able to premed while dancing too, not only in stealth

thanks for your help though
#showtooltip [stealth] garrote; kidney shot
/cast [stance:1/3] premeditation
/cast [stealth] garrote; kidney shot

Stealth+vanish+dance = premed
Stealth = garrote
Nostealth+dance = kidney shot

?

hi, first of all sorry if i'm not supposed to use this thread but I have a problem with this:

#showtooltip [stance:0/3] Kidney Shot; Garrote
/cast [stance:0/3] Kidney Shot
/cast [stance:1/2/3] Premeditation
/cast [stance:1/2] Garrote
I want it to kidney when i'm out of stealth/shadow dancing and garrote when i'm in stealth, everything works perfectly except for the vanish part where it kidney instead of garrote.

hope it makes sense, my english is not really good

/cast [stealth] premeditation; kidney shot
/cast [stealth] garrote

should work, no need to use stances unless you want a special function for dance

stance 2 is vanish but there's a bug; when you have shadow dance(aka playing subt) it treats both vanish and shadow dance as stance 3, so anything only being called for stance 2 does nil, while stance 3 stuff is also going to be done in vanish

it sucks but there's nothing we can do about it 'til blizzard fixes it :/

#3131018 [Macro] How to make this work?

Shorter:

#showtooltip
/use [stance:0,mod:shift,@focus][stance:0]Gouge;[mod:shift,@focus][]Sap

Btw is there a way to make this macro to show cheap shot icon in stealth (and still show hemo out of stealth)? Atm it shows premed:

#showtooltip
/cast [stance:0] Hemorrhage
/startattack [nostealth]
/cast [stance:1/2/3] Premeditation
/cast [stance:3] Cheap Shot
/cast [stance:1/2] Cheap Shot

Or just make this this way and so it uses cheap shot first and then premed in sdance as it doesnt matter much?

#showtooltip
/cast [stance:0] Hemorrhage
/startattack [nostealth]
/cast [stance:3] Cheap Shot
/cast [stance:1/2/3] Premeditation
/cast [stance:1/2] Cheap Shot
You've got the general idea, it'll automatically pick up on the first ability it sees:

#showtooltip
/use [stance:0]Hemorrhage;cheap shot
/startattack [nostealth]
/use [stance:1/2/3] Premeditation

unless it's important to have the startattack before cheap shot (no idea if it is), in which case:
#showtooltip
/use [stance:0]Hemorrhage
/startattack [nostealth]
/use [stance:1/2/3]cheap shot
/use [stance:1/2/3]Premeditation

PS. Any idea what to bind to same button with garrote? For out of stealth use. Something that I wouldn't need during shadowdance mainly

Edit. Decided to put evis with garrote macro. Do you need to have mod:shift cast before nomod or does it matter like here: The point of it having that way it would show garrote icon in sdance also. Starts to go off topic but atleast I wont need to make new topic for this if it gets answered :)

#showtooltip
/cast [stance:0] Eviscerate
/startattack [nostealth]
/cast [stance:3, nomod] Garrote [stance:3, mod:shift] Eviscerate
/cast [stance:1/2/3] Premeditation
/cast [stance:1/2] Garrote

Here:
#showtooltip
/use [stance:0][stance:3,mod:shift]Eviscerate;garrote
/startattack [nostealth]
/use [stance:1/2/3] Premeditation

Again, if it's important to have the startattack before the garrote (why would it be?), then it should be slightly different.

Hey, having problem with this macro:

#showtooltip Gouge
/cast [stance:0][mod:shift,@focus][@target, nomod] Gouge
/cast [stance:3][mod:shift,@focus][@target, nomod] Sap
/cast [stance:1/2][mod:shift,@focus][@target, nomod] Sap

It seems to ignore the Stance part of the macro. It only uses gouge and focus gouge no matter what stance youre in. And yes Im using actionbar 2

Hopefully someone can solve this

Try
#showtooltip
/cast [stance:0, mod:shift, @focus] [stance:0, nomod] Gouge
/cast [stance:1/2/3, mod:shift, @focus] [stance:1/2/3, nomod] Sap

@ posters above: stance can also be used as a rogue - and it has to be used for what he wants: a macro which allows you to sap while dancing (stance3).

*edit*
Explanation to the original macro and why it isn't working (explaining in "if.. then.. else.."):
- IF you are in stance 0 (normal) THEN you use Gouge ("[stance:0]")
- ELSE IF you hold down shift THEN you use Gouge on your focus (doesn't matter what stance) ("[mod:shift,@focus]")
- ELSE IF you don't hold down shift THEN use Gouge on your target (doesn't matter what stance) ("[@target, nomod]")

So basically your first line covers every possible input..

#3130779 People I've seen at my gym

Posted Ethug on 18 March 2011 - 08:01 AM

You guys are all douchebags and you don't even know these people in real life...and the poster above me is also a asshole, If you knew anything you would know that losing weight for obese people isn't easy and you have to start somewhere.  One can't just be like you and start benching your crazy max of 150,bro, this reminds me of something from my childhood. My father had been appointed by the court to defend a man who was accused of raping a young woman. My faith in justice was badly shaken when the jury convicted the man despite our father having shown, in court, that the accuser was lying. The accuser’s father was so upset over his being humiliated in court that he attacked my sister and me on our way home from our school’s Halloween pageant. The accuser’s father had just broken my arm and was about to do worse, when, out of nowhere, the town recluse saved us.

#3095213 [ADDON] SafeQueue

Posted Jordon on 27 February 2011 - 11:50 PM

SafeQueue
http://www.curse.com...s/wow/safequeue

What does SafeQueue do?
SafeQueue is an extremely lightweight addon that does the following:
  • Removes the "Leave Queue" button for arenas and battlegrounds
  • Colorized timer on the popup indicating how much time is remaining to join the match
  • Prevents the popup being closed by hitting the ESC key
  • Displays the time you waited in queue when it pops and (optionally) announces to your group

Slash Commands
  • /sq announce <self|group|off> (Announce the time you waited in queue when it pops)
