Posted Guest on 20 June 2012 - 12:24 AM

Hey, I realize some of you don't visit the other forums, so I'm posting this here as well! Sodah, Snutz, Venruki, and I will be hosting 12 hours of commercial-less PvP together on all four of our streams. We will begin streaming on Monday, June 25th starting at 1PM PST and end around 1AM PST on Tuesday, June 26th. The four streams used will be:

This event is being put together to raise interest in a new MMO pure PvP game that we're helping develop. I put together a thread going over all we can show for now on the game and can be found here.

We're hoping to do more events similar to this in the future and hope you enjoy the PvP.

#3717587 Forge - In the Making

Posted Guest on 20 June 2012 - 12:01 AM

Hey everyone, I'm excited to talk about a project I've been working on for the past couple months. It's something I've put a lot of time and thought into and I'm finally able to show a little of it off. First, what is this project I'm talking about? The project I'm referring to is assist in the design, gameplay, class balance, and overall pvp experience of a new MMO using the Unreal 3 Engine. Other names you might be interested in that were chosen to work on this project with me would include: Snutz, Venruki, and Sodah! These three and myself will have a HUGE impact on class balance and design for this new game: Forge, by Dark Vale Games. You can check out our site here:

Just this past week we've released some images, descriptions, and a short teaser video for the game. We are in Pre-Alpha stages of the game so we can't show you the epic gameplay footage you will want to see, but that time will certainly come. The Pathfinder and Assassin are the two classes we are able to show you for now.

Let me tell you a little about the game. It's going to be a 3rd person over the shoulder pure PvP game with aim-based combat. We have lots of plans for different modes and on release we will have 8-16 man CTF and Team Deathmatch style combat. There will be 5 classes on release: The Warden, the Pathfinder, the Assassin, the Pyromancer, and the Shaman. Each player will also have a companion. I'd love to talk to you about the in-depth design of our classes and maps, but we can't release any information on that at this time.We will have much more information to release on the classes as well as the companions in the coming weeks.

Our lead developer has done quite a few interviews about the game. He speaks of his past experiences of games, the downfalls of others, and what his plans are to make our pure PvP game less of a grind and more skill based with high replay value. Our art team has also done an interview.

I'd also like to give you guys a special announcement. We're looking to wake up the WoW community with some PvP, so Snutz, Venruki, Sodah, and I will all be streaming 12 hours of commercial-less WoW PvP. We'll be playing WoW for the full 12 hours and interacting with the viewers. We have ideas in place for this event to allow viewers to play with us. The event will start on Monday, June 25th, starting at 1PM PST and ending on June 26th at 1AM PST. In between games we will also be talking about Forge and our plans for the future of the game. Whether you are showing up for some information on the new game or just joining in to watch some WoW PvP (or both) it's fine with us.
Here's the 4 streams:

Lastly, and I want to stress this point, we'd like feedback as our game progresses. We aren't going to try to tackle this process alone, so I ask that you sign up on our forums and post your comments, questions, concerns, and ideas. As more and more information is released you will be able to impact our decisions more and more. We've been quite diligent with keeping up with EVERY post and replying to each one with the best answers we can give, so give us your opinions too! Don't wait: do this now!  You can sign up here.
Did I mention you get free Beta Access when it's released by signing up now?
You can also check us out on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/playforgewar

Here's a look at some of the suggestions I have made in the past to make WoW a better PvP game.
None of these suggestions went through and I am excited to put my thoughts to work.

It's been a long time since I made a Skill Capped Video, but soon a 33 minute video I put together on 'Thought Process in Arena' will be available. Enjoy!

Nothing amazing... Just some average footage I recorded on the Battle.net ATR. Kind of sad watching my game play in all honesty, I've really lost my ability play.

Anyways, hopefully you can enjoy it for what it is and learn from the mistakes I made. If you want to help support me, please follow me on twitch.tv/woundman. I haven't been streaming lately because of my internet, but that will change in a week! :)

5x Rank 1, MLG and Blizzcon Regional competitor Hoodrych aka Hr aka "the boss"!

I've always tried to release only quality videos, and this one is no exception. I find cleave videos to be somewhat boring, so it's taken awhile to gather footage to make a decent Cataclysm video. I'm showcasing WLS/WLP on live and the TR. A lot of games were taken from my stream, so I apologize the quality isn't top notch. Hope you enjoy.

#3655300 Yall Whine

I, as well, have whined about this broken game for years.

I have a proposal.

We have all played for a few years now.

PVP'ers have been given remodelled shitty drakes for accomplishing the hardest feats in the game. Blizzard has allowed the casual crowd to infest our competitive game and ruin it for the intelligent individuals who put in time and effort. Golden, shining tabards and mounts worth 100,000G have been given to the scrubs of the game, when it is the R1's who should be wearing these rare commodities.

PVE'ers continue to be rewarded with the newest, most awesome looking items/mounts for killing NPCs. I am not a hater. I've been a Gladiator and I've cleared numerous 25M Hardmodes. But, enough is enough. We all know the hardest part of PVE is gathering 10 or 25 people, not the encounters.

PVP is the joke of World of Warcraft, and one who does not see that is blind.

It is time for us to let them know it is not okay. From Mace stun to S5 DK to Shadowmourne to Beastcleave to LSD to Blood DK's Vengeance affecting PVP to Rogues with legendaries that feed them 5 combo points over and over again. The imbalances go on and on, they have for years.

Complaints/Balances that are lucky enough to get recognized from a blue post are put on hold 4-5 months until the next MAJOR patch. Some of the best players in the world spent numerous hours to voice their opinions only to have their brilliant ideas pushed aside. While PVE is patched or hot-fixed on a daily basis or every Tuesday (because the encounters are too hard) lulz.

It is time to stand up. I have heard rumors of Blizzard losing mass amounts of subscriptions lately.

My proposal is this:

I am not concerned if you plan to play MoP or not. Come back when MoP is released, that is perfectly fine.

But for the meantime, spread the word. Tell anyone you know to cancel their subscription. Write in the comment section that "PVP has been ignored for years and is the red-headed step child compared to PVE." Tell them that we are sick of remodelled drakes every season. We're sick of broken MMR. We're sick of triple dps. We're sick of casuals that can come in and buy the full Vengeful set that I worked hard for in the past.  We're sick of imbalances that go unnoticed and unrecognized for months upon months. I am sick of it.

Blizzard has always said, PVP will be fixed in BC, PVP will be fixed in WOTLK, PVP will be fixed in Cataclysm, and now we are hearing PVP will be fixed in MoP. Obviously, this is a blatant lie in order to keep their subscriptions from PVP'ers. Will you fall for their lies 4 times in a row? Are you that foolish?

There is only one way to attract attention to PVP and that is by THIS movement. Tell Blizzard you are fed up with being ignored. Their only concern is money. If we take that away from them; they have to pay attention to us.

Please do not delete this topic, in the grand scheme this could bless World of Warcraft PVP with the acknowledgement it deserves.

I love this game; it has always had great potential, but PVP is simply ignored. Step up for the game you love and and do the same. Show Blizzard we refuse to be treated like this any longer.

Here is my cancellation.

#3649349 The recent R1 Bans - I have no part.

Posted Ctuhlu on 24 February 2012 - 02:57 AM

Re: Glad sellers revitalizing arena participation

Are you fucking kidding me? The Gladiator title, by definition, is supposed to go to the top 0.5% of players in 3v3 and 5v5. The thing is, Glad sells have become so rampant that that number is probably, what, 0.3% now? That might even be generous. The same players are filling the ladder with "Gladiator" teams, reducing the number of unique players that are able to crack that 0.5%.

Sure, maybe glad sells do allow these R1 players to play while not sitting on their rating. So the teams doing sells are playing instead of doing their season-long sit -- but they're just playing against eachother.

The consequence of this is that for normal players, getting into Gladiator range becomes extremely unlikely as the players they have to beat to even get to 2200 are those same R1 players who are now either playing for a low-glad spot just like the normal players are, or are playing for a definitely-safe glad spot which just makes the cutoff that much higher, and that much more inaccessible to the plebes.

These rival/duelist players then proceed to give up on getting Gladiator legitimately since the opponents they would need to beat are the top 0.1% instead of the low end of the 0.5% cutoff. So they pay for these R1 players to get them Gladiator, continuing (and compounding) the cycle.

The R1 players who say that 'sells encourage participation' don't realize that it only encourages THEIR participation. They think the arena ladder is more active only because they aren't sitting on their teams for 6 months like they usually do.

The rivals and duelists and near-gladiators are crucial to the arena ladder 'ecosystem'. You might think they're weak things that can be removed from the food chain with no consequence, but like in nature it just doesn't work that way. The 0.5% system and the ladder in general requires a steady rise in skill the higher you go up the rankings -- but with the abundance of glad selling going on, there is a definite skill gap disrupting the ladder, and it's ruining arena.

Sells don't help the game meeting rank 1s at low rating never ever will help the game it will just cause bottlenecks at certain ratings so the top 50 ends up being r1 mains and sells done.
Makes it annoying as fuck when your just chillin on your average warrior then spam que into a team at 2.2-3k which is clearly a boost and are forced to just stop queing or get farmed when you know the owners of that account are 1.8k players.

This isn't really the main problem the cancer of sells produced.

Firstly, this illusion that sells causes the ladder to be more active is one of the dumbest misconceptions around, in fact it does the reverse. People who buy sells...don't then continue to play that team unless it's only a 2.2k sell, which is only ever done in 1 day, Glad/R1 sells sit on that team for the entire season, its those teams that are playing to get whatever their target is Duelist, Glad, Rival etc that makes the ladder active.

This is why TBC and WotLK were far more active than now, when sells were either non-existent (TBC) or far less especially in the earlier seasons (WotLK).

It damages the community, it ruins it for legitimate teams and players from getting Gladiator, teams that work all season to get it - then when you hear about sells and boosts they can get disinterested in Arena and quit altogether.

It means even less players break into the exclusive "0.5%" club, and instead promotes mediocre players up to that level, lowers the quality of players all around.

Basically, if you do sells of any kind you're scum, a cancer on the game who I hope is perm banned away.

I'm reporting every sell team on EU ladders that I can find and if I know the people doing it I'm linking your main accounts as well.
