#4139075 Arena123 targetting actually hurts arena

Please, play some games without arena123 macro's and come back to this forum and tell me you still like it. When I dc (which happens every fuckin time i play cuz of blizzards recent update), I come back in the game with no frames and no arena123 targets that can be found. Then you'll understand the definition of aids.

Entire TBC and good portion of S5 ( before Proditor released Gladius ) was played by many players without any automated awareness thanks to lack of stuff like Gladius, and back in TBC I'd argueably say that beating someone took the most skill ( I'm not spouting the "omg its best because I've played it" garbage, I'm only saying that it had the largest stepping stone between someone awful and someone who is actually good precisely because of that reason ).

Newsflash - if you can't play the game without Gladius and arena 123, you're not good.

It's an interesting idea that's occurred to me recently, arena123 targetting is actually bad for arena. It gives the ability to gurantee that you will hit your desired opponent at anytime. This is regardless if you actually know where they are on the map or if they've just come out of stealth(insert some sort of you can't see me mechanic). You just mindlessly spam your mechanic to peel for someone, knowing that they are in arena1, 2, or 3 because they've made that mechanic available. It takes away from the awareness of the player of the position of the opponent and to target said opponent. It has made pvp become more like pve, where you press a macro to select the desired target for you (Think of all the boss fights were you make specific macros just to target a certain mob). It's lessened the value of focus dropping mechanics because people are no longer using their counterspells on focus as much because they are using arena123.

Note: I actually find that arena123 does improve gameplay in terms of ease of use but it greatly hinders the aspect of player capability.

#4091350 Where have all the rogues gone?

Posted KPul on 03 April 2014 - 01:39 PM

Rogues aren't fun anymore to play.    I know when the stars align i can put out ridiculous damage but when it comes to arenas in order to be successful as a rogue it demands so much synergy to be successful.  Its to the point that it's exhausting to get a win even vs the worst teams.

Also, I've been saying it for a long time but whenever you hit seasons where Hunters or Ferals are the most played class you'll see less and less of rogues playing.    I know when I enter an arena and I see a team make a gauntlet with flares and AoE spam in a tight corner to prevent the rogue opener I laugh.    It makes rogue openers inconsistent and its often unreliable to have a good opener strategy when there are so many targetable AoEs to put a rogue's team in combat.

Rogue gameplay is second nature for me and I'm sure its the same for plenty of other players who have been playing since BC/Wrath.  I am constantly asked how to do simple things like "how to open for good burst" and it leads me to believe that rogue gameplay, in order to be successful, needs to take advantage of every global properly otherwise they will fail immensely and thats too much of a learning curve for a new player. Regardless of how much damage rogues can potentially do I think they have the biggest gap between a new player and a skill capped player.    The reason there are so few rogues playing is because its exhausting and requires so much setup to win against teams that are hundreds of MMR lower than you compared to other classes. The gameplay is stale and easily countered.  The entirety of an arena match as a rogue is determined in the first 20 seconds of an arena and thats not fun / too hard to recover from a mistake.  I think the biggest reason rogue population is so low is because rogues look fun on paper/stream but they immediately turn a player away when they see how much setup it takes vs playing another class to actually be successful.

Perfect example for a suspension here. 0 Constructive posts here, or the official forums he posts on. 0 Arena experience, (Never been above 1500 in 3's) posts dumb stuff in threads, Why would blizzard want to maintain communication with this website when these are the people who post here?

No arena exp.
No desire or want to get better at arena (as previously stated).
No constructive or helpful posts.

Still has an obnoxious opinion on the state of the game, and a childish reaction to a whiff of 'drama'.

#3990628 scumbag reckful

Oh noes, the trolls text is hurting his emotions, $100k+ a year in donations isn't enough to compensate for the emotional torment. How dare they complain when he runs ads, and how dare they stop donating. PS. he doesn't care about money, PPS, He's rich as fuck yo.

Has this kid ever had a full time job? Once he steps out into the real world he will realize how stupid he sounds.

But In the end the fault lies with the idiots with no value of money that constantly throw it away at these streamers for nothing. They have created this new breed of e-hollywood twitch diva.

This. At least Woundie sets people free after the stream. And refunds 2000$ donations. He is a true champion amongst the streamers; a shiny beacon of light in the muddy pile of shit that we call Jew.TV, an oiled martyr that dances on the webcam whilst his mum comes into the room, questioning herself whether it was a good idea to refuse to use the clothes hanger.

Priceless... Had to rep that, misc forum quality.

If Reckful doesn't want to stream, so be it. Leave him alone. He has a huge fan base, which comes with lots and lots of trolls. Some people can take it, others can't. Simple as that. I can't really blame him, especially since the class he use to enjoy isnt the same anymore. I've had multiple days while stream where I am either tired or emo, and the only reason I streamed was because of my viewers constantly asking in-game.

Reckful is a pretty competitve dude, and if you want to be successful in WoW, you just can't stream your high quality content because you'll either get sniped or aka downloaded. Setting a delay helps, but not as much as you'd think. You'd be surprised how many people have told me who I am playing against and what their strategy is.

Anyways, if Reckful doesn't want to stream, leave him alone. It's his choice and probably one of the better.

Edit:

#4058807 Don't be an asshole

Posted Nadagast on 21 February 2014 - 12:09 AM

I'm sure everyone has seen how much trolling and general douchebaggery have infected AJ.  I'd like it to stop.

Trolling and assholery puts AJ on a downward spiral.  People troll/asshole-it-up, which leads to less people using this as a forum for serious/reasonable discussion, which leads to more trolling, etc.  AJ always was and continues to be the most popular place for new players to get into the PvP scene.  Any community relies on new members to sustain itself--by making this place a wasteland we are doing nothing but ensuring our own demise.

Before you post a reply or topic, ask yourself: am I being an asshole?  If you are, change your post to take a more educational tone.  If you're feeling heated about something, take some time to cool off before replying.  Don't immediately assume someone is trolling you, some people are just not very knowledgeable.  Worst case, if you reply in a calm educational manner, you've posted something informative for the hundreds or thousands of lurkers who will view your reply.  These are generally newer PvPers, and anything you do to help sustain them as arena players helps all of us.

On any set of forums, it's easy to forget that almost all of the people reading it are lurkers, who will never make any posts.  Lurkers cannot be trolls, they can't be assholes, they are just here to learn or read interesting things.  Post interesting, informative content.  Post drama if you want, but don't be an asshole.  Fuck the trolls, post for the lurkers.

#4056005 PTR rogues

Posted mirox on 18 February 2014 - 01:01 PM

If you can get 35% passive crit and then 5% from mage right now, what do you think will happen with new gear and all that agility? Yep, we all know what will happen, rogue damage will get nerfed because people hate getting killed by rogues, but other monogloid classes, that do stupid damage(mages, warriors, hunters,dk,wwmonks, ele shamans), will keep their damage, because they are `supposed` to do it. (this happened few times already)

#4056233 Tryhards of Season 14 Awards

Posted Bigmoran on 18 February 2014 - 04:26 PM

It's that time of the year again boys and girls. Last night marked the end of the season and unfortunately I spent my last 3v3 game offline. Oddly enough this is the second season in a row that my last arena game of the season ended in me being DDOSed. Exumbra probably hasn't given up his hatred and jealousy of me. Poor guy.

Anyway, just like last season here is the list of the TRYHARDS of SEASON 14.

Death Knight

Winning the title for two years in a row is HEUHEUEHUEHUE Brasil DK Vigaboy. Previously known as Vigarista and Vigaboyswag, this DK (who honestly plays like an Honorbuddy profile) farmed 1-2 point wins from 2470~ to safe Rank 1 rating.
http://i.imgur.com/zGDDvhU.png
Once again, this clever little bastard has backpeddled his way to another rank one title.

Druid

If this were the Olympics, Brasil would have a huge lead over everyone at this point. I say this because the tryhard druid of s14 is also a HEUHEUEHUEHEUHE BRBRRBRBRBRasil. If it wasn't obvious enough at this point, I am of course talking about Rynd. This emotional train wreck of a human being has five druids, most of which are getting rank 1. You trying to compensate for something there buddy? I hope it's your inability to grow a mustache.

Hunter

Claiming the title of tryhard hunter is bucktooth Shaman Goat cleaver Tonystyle. At the beginning of the season he would queue Ret/Hunter/Shaman for literally hours every day. This guy had nearly 1500 games played at the START of the season running only ONE comp.

Mage

When he's not making donuts at Tim Hortons or yelling "DUDE DISPELL ME WHAT THE FUCK" to his teammates, Snaregodx is actually a pretty swell dude. This high calibur frost mage made it big this season, climbing his way to rank 1 of the ladder. I hear from some of my colleagues that his success in arena is due to him gemming full dodge and speccing into blazing speed when some other mage ques arena. Well praise Jahllah, because Snaregodx won his race against to Kwok to achieve rank 1 on multiple mages.

Monk

I couldn't really think of anyone relevant to put in this category. So instead I am opting to give this award to Ssjwindgodx aka Ssjwindvipx. If you don't hate him already because of his name, this black guy runs double monk (MW/WW) in 2s for multiple hours at a time. Cmon man, it's black history month. Live the dream and queue some 3v3.

Paladin

It's been a while since he graduated from Bongwater University with a degree in Wind Raiding, but Eliteqt has certainly made a splash on the ladders this season. I'm sure it had nothing to do with playing with Jahmilli, but Elite climbed high on the ladders on three paladins (not to mention some obvious carries, but hustle over bitches amirite?)

Priest

I'm not sure if he is even capable of reading, but winning the tryhard award for priest is Dibbz. When he's not taking vodka shots off his bros' bellybuttons, he is spam queuing fire mage godcomp with Hansol, lord of fire. If you need some insight into the life of a sexually confused rich kid who pops his collar, drop by his stream every once  in a while. Ignore the subpar shadow priest play and focus on the two shirtless dudes in the background playing ping pong.

Rogue

Jax. Not much to say here.

Shaman

It's a bit ironic that the tryhard shaman comes from a server commonly abbreviated ED, because this guy certainly has a big dick with the moves he pulls against streamers. Playing four shamans, each with a unique kickbot profile is Kallis, some idiot that got high ratings running Honorbuddy cleave.

Warlock

Winning the title once again is Dota. It seems he has gated in and out of ~3 online relationships during this season, causing him to name change every time. His names this season went from Juliaxo to Cleanupxo to Marilynxo to Marixo. Either he is just copying the lyrics of Mambo #5 or he genuinley has been the victim of some serious /cast seduction. (jesus christ i feel like Perez hilton at this point - hold me, dan)

Warrior

The tryhard warrior of this season goes to 40 year old Korean father Irub. He played multiple warriors this season, each time running KFC with some of his other squinty eye friends. The main reason he is a tryhard tho is because of his ability to create a Great Wall of Texts on AJ, none of which people give a single fuck about.
