VANILLA
Joined WoW August 2006

BURNING CRUSADE
Started doing arena in S2 as a Hunter, played with RL friends and people I met on server
Joined a progression raiding guild and did Hyjal/BT/Sunwell
Leveled an alt Resto Druid during S4, achieved a rating of 1900 in 2s
--
WOTLK
PvE'd during S5
Arena'd casually with my friends from HS in S6-7 transferring from Turalyon to Mal'Ganis to Perenolde
Transferred to a new realm (Burning Blade) in S8, achieved first 2200 as Shadowplay and Warrior/Prot Paladin
--
CATA
Did my first "real" Glad push in S9 as WLD with Fixty and Babypuke on Burning Blade. Fell short of Glad by 100 points.
Got 2650 Rated in S10 as RLD on Burning Blade
MMR reset happens
Transfer to Darkspear. Play Shatterplay with two different sets of Mages/Spriests. Eventually get to 2600 post MMR nerf with Aetarius and Thingtwo on Mage.
The three other people on our roster tank our team to 2400 while I was asleep. Aetarius gets banned. Get fucked out of Glad.
In S11, transfer to KT. Have the time of my life playing RLD and RPD with Snackumz/Phishy and others (mostly Carrymelol).
Still not Gladiator.

--
MoP
S12
Play casually at start of season with Tonystyle and a Warrior named Xance running Marks Hunter KFC (lol)
Randomly get asked by Snaregodx to queue with Beckinsale. The queue session goes horribly, suggest that we play with Snackumz instead.
Play with Snackumz and Snaregodx to 2500 and sit just a few days before season end.
Get first Glad as Fire/Destro MLD

S13, gets asked to make a R1 Push in 5s on Ruin with Seestraightz, Adversa, Pwh, Fatamericanx, Pittles, and a few others.
Lots of DDOS happens
Drama ensues
Hold R1 for majority of season, then get passed during last few weeks
Posted Image
While this team was getting passed in 5s, I transfer my other Druid to bongwater BG. Get R1 easily.
S14
Play RMD with heaps of people
Get R1 with two Chinese players (Vurtre and Syrex) in 3v3
Nearly get R1 on my mage playing 3 DPS with Nahj and Maorimoron
Start playing RBGs seriously.
S15
Playing 3s super casually, focusing more on RBGs (with Datacus, Abn, Bailamos, etc)
Some of my OG server friends wanna make R1 push in 5s. I play with them. We achieve R1 with a near flawless W/L (Going 54-0 with Unseenz)

--
WoD
S16 Dominate ladder first week of Season with Hewty and Rositajones
Take a break from arena, come back and queue with Pookz/Thingone. We tank horribly.
Take an even longer break from arena, queue last week of season with Jax/Cower. Get Glad range as RMD.
S17 Barely play
Make last season glad push with two people I met a week before season end.
We get tired of queueing. We get Duelist
S18 Still playing casually. Queue occasionally with Venruki/Nikeswag/Snutz/Jax/Gazzle/CdewRogue + the two people I did S17 Duelist push with

#4562229 Your road to gladiator

Posted Knaittiz on 27 January 2016 - 01:10 PM

It all started when I was 13 and fed up with RuneScape, having lost an Abyssal Whip in the wilderness due to my friend spamming "@@@@@@" on top of my character so I couldn't see my health bar. I was so tilted and wanted to play another game. Not too many days later I saw an ad of "World of Warcraft" which looked awesome! I had to try it out, so I went on "worldofwarcraft.com" and downloaded the trial version.

I tried a night elf hunter at first, inspired by no other than Legolas. I kept fighting all sorts of feline enemies and kept dying because I was fighting them with a god damn fishing pole for some reason. Somehow I got "resurrection sickness" and my character felt even weaker, so I decided to reroll a warrior. Best decision ever, I had so much fun playing a warrior! I remember taking the boat to Darkshore and being invited to my first guild ever, <Bears of Redemption>.

Darkshore was such a beautiful place. I stayed there until I was level 20, killing countless crabs on the shores... "Why am I not leveling up to 21 already?" I asked myself often... until some helpful fellow explained to me that a trial account is capped at level 20. What a fool I was. Around these times I also noticed I am playing on the US servers. I killed two birds with one stone and bought the full version of WoW and made an account on EU servers.

I kept playing night elf warrior, it just had a good feeling to it. I started getting into PvP very early, queing some AB/WSG between questing at lvl 20+. when I hit level 45 I already had 5000 honorable kills. At level 60 I decided I want to be like my childhood hero Maydie and play BGs with the cool Grand Marshal gear all day... that dream died very soon and I started going for max level (70, I started when TBC came out) and oh boy I was ready to get into PvP again after getting that max level.

I found out about "arena" which also seemed really exciting to me, so I searched for a partner from the trade chat of my RPPvP server and found a holy paladin named "Uncertainty" and I was ready to roll. Our first arena was on Lordaeron, against two hunters. Being a night elf I thought hiding in the starting room in shadowmeld was a great idea. It also helped me calm down a bit since I stood there shaking for atleast a minute or two before charging in... well my first arena was easier than expected, I guess all that practice in BGs paid off, we won with ease! From that moment on I knew this was my calling. World of Warcraft PvP started being more important than school or friends. I would stay up late. Play a bg in the morning before going to school. Think about wow in school. Come home and play wow. That was my life, and I was happy that way. Season two started and I started experimenting in 3s.

First I tried some RWD which was actually a real comp back then with a rogue from my guild and some resto druid, we faced two of our guild mates who were running HLP. We tunneled the lock down and beat them, felt good man. That is when I got to know the warlock I just destroyed and we became friends. We started playing 2v2 together not knowing that our comp is actually carbage. We still managed to hit 2087 rating as warrior/warlock in 2v2 with no voice communication (I was a squaker and playing in the living room talking to myself on the computer would seem weird). That is when we realised we were no ordinary RPPvP-server player.

We started gaining some reputation and people would admire our achievements. We were ready to take it to the next level, 3v3. We found a surprisingly good holy paladin from trade chat, Gadr (I miss you buddy, where are you man?) that guy was insanely good for a random dude we found. We played the rest of TBC with him, without voice communication as usual, reaching over 2300 in 2v2 and 3v3. In 2v2 we tanked a lot of rating with him one day and decided to call it quits and disband the team out of shame. Turns out the rating would have still been enough for gladiator. In 3v3 my warlock friend disappeared for a couple weeks so I thought hey why not play with a gladiator elemental shaman I saw in Ironforge, and so we did. I was so excited to hit people with my heroism and windfury totem... But we lost our gladiator rating in 3v3 that day aswell. I was so foolish. My warlock friend was not pleased. He still hasn't forgiven me about it and I hear about it very often. I'm sorry, I thought you quit the game. I didn't understand the fuss about titles back then anyway, but I would be happy to have a TBC drake now, oh well.

TLDR: play a lot, maybe record your games and write down your mistakes, repeat until you don't make any!

#4560057 (US) RBG Nostalgia Thread

Posted Sizurex on 12 January 2016 - 04:38 AM

Let's be honest, we all miss the old hey days of RBGS whatever season that may have been for you. this threads dedicated to US sorry smelly eu ppl.

i started rbging in s9 and continued on until s15 and have a lot of memories from all these seasons thought i'd share some for some nostalgia for anyone i played with / qued into / that was apart of the community through the years.

Season 9 (1'st rbg season) - this season was fun as fuck, it was everyone's first season so nobody had any rly solid strats there was no twin peaks etc just fc maps + AB so you'd get ur fc (mainly a prot warrior) to run the flag to ur flag room and sit there while the team fights in mid & whoever wiped the other team in mid would push the FC, the reason my team at the time was so successful at the time is we had PVE gear and would swap to pve gear after we wiped the team and moved onto the fc. shout out to cambrie / hulkirl / bailamos for my s9 team

Season 10 - i don't recall much of this season because i lost my HDD with all my screenshots ): but i played with a few ppl on blackrock horde relatively fun season. shout out to bossqt happydayz sideshift grobal

Season 11 - My favorite season of all, i hadn't rbged properly since s9 and bailamos has his team setup with no much room for me, so i asked one of my really close friends chris (mikevickx) to hook me up with a team, and he got me into a few groups with Ai and that was the start of the best time i've had playing this game, we qued over 1000 games in cataclysm seasons and i met so many good friends i still talk to to this day, we had multiple series with bailamos and gob i have so many priceless screenshots / videos of the classic bail rage Posted Image
Posted Image
and then came one of the most hard fought series we had as a team VS Cirannis (thegodofdmg) / perryftd / filo etc.. where we came out on top 3-0 one of the most memorable moments in rbgs.
https://www.youtube....h?v=CXO-C83gfR4
and not to mention the last day of season 11 where we qued into thybro and tanked him out of hero cause poppy hit off like 5 ppl in his team LMFAO (i don't condone ddosing never did never will) and that lead to thybro qutting wow.

gob was easily one the best characters in the communty in cata so special mention to you bro you got famous for trinketing novas and getting ninja capped & skyping ppl (including me) really late at night and just sitting there flexing while wearing sunglasses inside.

Another memorable moment is when we started the trend of "swifty ddos" we got approacted by douglas (owner of dara mactire) after we beat ciranis in the 3-0 series they wanted to recruit one of the top rbg groups for their guild seeing as they just got a lot of rank 1 players to xfer over to bolster the ranks so a few of us xferred over to darkspear to join the guild and we where told to bring swifty / bahjeera / cartoonz / hotted into some rbgs for acheivements & videos ect and around that time we brought in swifty and someone on our team was accused of ddosing a team we vsed (later turned out to be 3rd party) so we decided to make a joke out of it and pinned it on swifty saying he did it and so the saying "swifty ddos" was born.

so i'd like to shout out a WHOLE bunch of ppl Spanksv / Cytox / Ai / Zerfin / Squirtlelol (greenteax) / Jeff (naptimex) / Icequeen / Chimpoelol / Sweatyfingrs / Reinhart / Exumbra / Solcx / Raddzy / Bustamove / Drbannaphd / Baneclaw / Save / Stormshiftx / Grimdots / Blitzkreigqt / Bailamos / Bwinthehouse / Thybro / Hybro / Muskratz / Grindie / Vot / Bestovian / Animalcrackr / Cottage / Warac / Majin westz / eliteqt / veliira / Razecoldqt / ayraswag / Gob / bani / abora / Fake palantis (elvis) / noximi / sharpstorm / jahmill / mitchjones / wushy / batmoon / shiftyx / axelson / hansol / morbid / monkeydluffy / savary / catlol / masheen / fountain / azura / schwoopnasty / poppychulo / diggles / neroxz / luminationx / brooke / sparn / skillgripxd / weedsnorterx / ciranis / buffed / elementxz / jordon / turmoil / owlrightyden / psybear / dementia / swifty. SORRY IF I DIDN'T MENTION YOU

Season 12 - in my opinion this was the start of the downfall of rbgs, Ddosing became a everyday thing if you didn't have a proxy you'd get lobbed out of the group, as i'm not a fan of ddos i stayed out of rbgs for this season but shout out to swifty darkspear season 12 ddos squad. shout out to andee / rilor / flaberz / lumination / sytex / digglesxo /  swoozerz / neroxz (ps fuck you shifty moshe helman ass boi)

Season 13 - the season of the asian wintraders selling rating & blank rbgs & the birth of lob a moron. this season i grouped up with luke (maorimoron) / dienives / Pratik and co. season was full of queing into -900 mmr teams and 3k mmr teams. luke was a big character this season after he started using the phrase (lob a moron) so basically if you talked shit to luke ur fucked up he'd say "want to get lobbed moron" and then made it a guild (i still use the phrase to this day) shout out to qqanyone / takenotezz / jrdanhourson / mongoform / shawts / jukah / wushykat / juu / animalcrackr / supatease / cnboxer / voopalol / gob / norqx / zerfin / fakepalantis (bubbez / elvis) / stormshiftx // nadagast / psyops / sixtyninemvp / kewtips (l0l) / carnox / cytox / bortik / mattx / zeevz / ai / squishyflap / SPLATTED LMFAO / popeshow / verelea (rookere)

Season 14 - i didn't play this season but i imaging luke / abn dom'd

Season 15 - i only played the last few weeks of this season but it was the birth of autism aka Nigguin, the season was full of MW bots & lock bots but brought about the return of bellicostco  & datacus and no doubt bailamos was still playing all day.

so that's the end of my memory of rbgs over the seasons i'll try to get a few imgur albums up of my screenshots if i've missed anything important lmk i'll add it to the thread. and if you want to add me on b-tag sizure#6127

Honorable Mentions -
Gob (lecter / Thegobfather / Thegobofdmg) you where one of the most sane ppl i met in rbgs really good bloke stay flexin bro famous for trinketing novas and not having heroic throw bound and getting ninjad all day

Pratik (curry / pk / unseenz) #1 rogue ever in rbgs hands down

Spanksv (thewise) #1 boomkin always top dmg every rbg in cata no competition

Bailamos - shout out to bailamos for feeding us free points whenever we needed them <3

Cytox - i've never seen anyone take rbgs as serious as you before you roid rager, still a really mechanically sound rogue who new the strats and executed them idk how your voice isn't fucked after all the screaming you've done

Hybro - funniest dumbest cunt in rbgs ever most lovable guy

baby - mitch wouldn't q unless it was atleast 5 pm gmt+10

Dementia - gayest rbg player in history

#4531038 I Could Be A Commentator

Posted Glink on 31 October 2015 - 04:41 AM

I think the commentators for the arena tournaments do a pretty good job overall and I'm not going to knock any of them, but I do think there is some room for improvement.

I started doing commentating of matches as a sort of joke on my own stream, just messing around / having fun, but I've gotten some positive feedback and a few of my friends say I would make for a good commentator, and I honestly think I'd do just as good if not better job than most of the commentators.

So if you have time, check out these vods and tell me what you think, any criticisms would be appreciated and honest opinions of my commentating ability / game knowledge.

Please keep in mind, I obviously do not have access to the commentators UI in any of these vods, so I'm just looking at targeting to view buffs, debuffs, and keep track of what's going on, causing certain things to be missed occasionally by me.

Here are 3 solid examples:

1. http://www.twitch.tv...nksz/v/13877437 (this was probably my least enthusiastic one, but it was about 11 minutes long of me doing it)

2. http://www.twitch.tv...nksz/v/15264331 (only about 3 minutes, much more concise)

3. http://www.twitch.tv...nksz/v/16905404 (skip to 1:00, this is my best one)

I'd like to apply somehow to be a commentator if I could. maybe commentating for something like GCD would be the best step to do first.

Thanks.

About to necro this thread but why dont they get someone else to comentate other then lore?! he says heal over time only why doesn't he use more words?

Because they already pay him for doing nothing but saying haunt/drain soul buffs won't matter because affliction lock is a spread pressure spec so why not just throw him in as a commentator also?

dunno how thats even an argument when bailamos has straight up said in some vod that rbgs are just as comp based as 3s.

theres like 1-2 "good" comps u can run in rbgs then you can replace 1-2 of those roles with different caster varients and there you go.

dont kid urself man

wow stop crying kid.

ye rbgs have certain "comps" but in  RBGs it's much more important how good your team mates are.
You can play the best comp in the game but if for example your lock doesn't know how to peel for the healers and how to setup cross-cc you would be better with another DPS.

In RBGs hunters are considered shit but nonetheless I was able to be in the top20 in RBGs last season because I made my class work.
I was almost 300 rating above any other legit hunter because I knew what the my team needs and could deliver.
This means abusing Knockbacks, exotic defense strategies, winning 1on1s easily, peeling for your healer and FC.
Yes RBGs are comp based but those comps are based around 8 classes and the rest can be replaced by another one (random DPS-slots).

I disagree, but that's my opinion. I think 5v5, and RBG's are more fun than 3v3 but not every one thinks that. 3v3 is too comp based for my taste I like out playing and winning based off skill not my class/spec/comp. I can't even play with my friends in 3s most of the time because I can play 2 comps or some thing like that as a rdruid. Fighting for objectives is a lot of fun for a lot of people.
