#3377622 Swifty PERMA BANNED

Posted Mavrei on 18 July 2011 - 05:21 PM

Fuck all of you faggots laughing at the man, he actually treated the game like a well-balanced adult human being should.  He enjoyed it.  He didn't talk shit to anybody, ever - and while he wasn't the best, he wasn't so fucking delusional that he had to pawn off every failure he ever had on other people.

Grow up you fucking children.

#2972729 Poly and counterspell nerfed

Its a small burst nurf and a decent constant damage buff.  The loss of 6 mastery is 15% damage on frozen targets.  Obviously with FoF up ice lance will hit the same and with frostbolts 15% damage buff it will still hit for the same amount on frozen targets.  There is a burst nurf for ice lancing frozen targets with no FoF.  However, our sustained damage with frostbolt is 15% stronger.

Imo its a good change.  This reduces the focus on spamming ice lances galore in pvp.  It will make frostbolt a more desirable spell for continuous damage and will force mages to setup their big burst with fof charges.  Its a step towards toning down some of the faceroll icelance garbage in the arenas atm.

You should be playing because you like the game, not because of a title.  If you're not having fun while you're in arena, playing with your friends, winning and losing, then you're chasing after something that you're not going to find.

Getting that title might give you a rush for a little while, but eventually you'll realize that the hours and hours you put into the game were a waste if you didn't enjoy the time you spent getting Gladiator.

#2158233 Why you play the class you do! Roleplay Editon

Posted Zoltån on 06 May 2010 - 06:45 AM

I love playing :rogue: as my all time favorite class for simply one reason. I am a mercenary hired by whomever to bounty hunt and collect my reward. I am a sneaky character I stealth around the shadows and embrace being quick and lethal. I can vanish in the blink of an eye and spray Fadeleaf into the eyes of my foes. The only friends/allies I have is my dagger and ninja star. I also have a slew of women who will clean my dagger and gem my socket 1 at a time.
How do you roleplay?

I feel like the most important thing to evaluate about a player is their court vision and decision making ability.  It's also probably the hardest thing to evaluate.  I think this leads people to (consciously or unconsciously) not evaluate it and instead look at technical aspects of a player's play.  Stuff like juking/getting juked, autocast stuff, focus Grips for DKs, etc; things that are very simple to read and point to as a player 'being good' or 'not good,' as if it's a binary thing.  While technical aspects of play are important, they aren't the most important or even second most important thing, and everybody frequently makes mistakes.  Anyone who says they don't get juked often are lying or playing bad players.  Anyone can record like 200 arena games and pick the 5 games where his technical play is superb, and I feel like he will be extremely overrated because of it.

This post isn't even really directed specifically at this movie, I want to make a more general point about how people evaluate players.  Court vision and decision making is more important and harder to develop than technical plays that everyone obsesses over in videos.

I think this applies to how you evaluate players you're playing against too.  Too often, people juke a CS or find this one single flaw and say "player X is bad he does Y."  This is the same process that happens in movie evaluation.  It's difficult to do the real evaluation of a player's awareness and decision making, so instead you say "haha he did Y, he is SO BAD!"

Same thing applies when people ask for advice.  "How do I beat RMP as WLD?"  Any question like this is way way too broad to be answered.  You can sort of give a general idea of the strategy, but very often you will want to make changes very early in the game because every game plays out extremely differently.  It's all about court vision and decision making and you can't wrap those two things up in a short and simple "How to beat RMP as WLD" strategy guide.

Arcane Torrent is amazing, I wouldn't go back to undead as priest again, Zomgasm 3 will be done soon and you'll probably see how much its used and turns games.

It's very handy for mass dispelling pally bubbles with silence, fear and psychic horror being down, clip them at the end of a holy light, I've noticed some spell misses just from my 2% chance to miss passive aswell.

Arcane Torrent wins a guesstimated 3 of 10 games offensively.

It also is very handy against RMP and Spell Cleaves if people get clustered up and someones getting wrecked on your team, I've stopped a few deepfreeze shatters and chaosbolts with it where we would have lost the games also.

Thumbs up for belfs in my book over the 5+ years of playing UD

#1967364 lowering spriest damage during blust

Posted Theed on 18 March 2010 - 11:05 PM

there are very few people left who used to play s1-early s3, which was the last time you prolly saw a shadow priest in arena without wondering why the fuck he is not disc.
let alone at lvl 60 when (ud) shadow was like s5 dk on crack.

so in my opinion people who never played against a shadow in almost all of their wow time naturaly are weak against them.

almost 100% of all the shadow priests either quit in wotlk or had to spec disc becouse shadow was one of the weakest arena specs of all time, and you can not deny it.
so almost all the shadow priests of today are either players who can finaly go back to their favorite spec after a whole addon of healing, or players like me who heared from friends that shadow is "competitive" once again and got back to wow.

spriest damage isn't any more broken than other classes, this discussion is fucking retarded, it's obviously really high but most classes deal retarded damage already

Was haste on dots a bad idea? No, it helps scaling.
Are we dealing over the top damage? Yes, welcome to wotlk.

Nvm, just realized you guys are arguing about how to act on the internet.

Double fear possible everytime? you must have some clowns on your bg.

Unless you think a double fear is "including" the warrior who zerker rages out instantly...

I'm on BG9 (been here 3 days now since I "cameback"), and yes sometimes the zerker is up or tremor is down but its a great interrupt.  But yeah, with frost nova and warrior pressuring someone on your team (assuming not the shaman) its a very high success rate.  I CONSTANTLY look for opportunities for multiple target fears.  Its pretty much a key move from anyone who's been playing spriest long enough (or really aggressive disc priests in RMP) as mages can set it up like not other.  Mage can blink to be closer to a dps or healer and warrior charges in --> frost nova followed by double fear.  There are various other permutations, such as when the warrior is forced to turtle back to a pillar near his healer due to pressure and you're already moving in for that fear...

I don't wanna sound like Lolflay and make ridiculous claims like its done "all day 'er day"  but double fears (and to a lesser degree triple fears) are very common on several maps (particularly ones with more obstacles and tighter spacing).  Unless your strat revolves entirely on a multi-fear (it shouldn't, but it definately helps and sometimes has to), even good teams are going to get caught it it a fair amount.
