#4632652 mop private servers

Posted by Ownu on 18 April 2017 - 09:46 PM

Strictly speaking arena, mop was actually pretty fun/good.

Sure there were a few things that were broken here and there, but there were in every expansion. In wrath, you had Death Knights running around 2 shotting people with icy touch, mutilate crtting for half your health bar, druids who were not viable healers, and thats all just in the first season. Then you had prot specs running rampant later, and eventually orange weapons and full pve gear playing double healer warrior.

Dont get me wrong, I loved wrath, and look back on it very fondly, but it was far from perfect.

In mop, you had the same shitty start as wrath, with hunter stampede 1 shotting everything, and then you had this

later we saw rise to elemental shaman and the meatball spam. But the expansion did have its good bits for sure. The most noticeable thing is that tyrannical, grevious, and prideful (moreso the later two) comp diversity was high, similar to how it was in season 9 (arguably the best season of cata), and season 8 (probably the best season of wrath). When we look at other expansions, like wod and to a lesser extent legion, we dont really see a high diversity in team competition. There is always a "best" class this or that comp, and that class will outshine all others of its type (for the most part)

#4620343 MoP s15 arena server (open to suggestions/ different patches)

Posted by Ownu on 10 December 2016 - 04:52 PM

I had more fun and spent more time playing on wotlk AT during MoP, even with an active subscription... I don't think many will want to play on it, except the people that got into arena and got high during it. It's just my personal opinion, but I thought MoP gameplay was one of the lowest points in WoW history.

s15 had a variety of viable comps, dot snapshotting, fast paced damage for fast paced reactions

I'm sure all you are remembering is season 12 when KFC ran around 1 shotting everything with stupid warriors and bugged hunter pets but it was one season, not the whole expansion

WOD was the lowest points in wow history

I see a lot of solid advice here.  I played fairly seriously in Cata, and then took a few long breaks, and when I finally got back into playing again, I found that literally all of my former WoW pals had moved on, so in a way, I was in the same boat as you are in now.
First and foremost, keep playing.  You'll meet people, even if you are losing to them.  Even message people you play against, not to be a jackass rager, but to congratulate them sincerely on their gameplay.  As Shendelz noted above (side note, I learned to DK last xpac from his guide and got to well over 2k in 3s yolo-style, so I highly recommend listening/reading anything he has to say), don't worry about rating.  Just get in there and play.
Play RBGs.  I know, RBGs are not arenas, but you will meet people that way.  I met my most regular partner in an RBG, started to run fives with him, and eventually ran regular threes with him.
Finally, and this may be the hardest, record your own games and watch them with a critical eye.  What are you doing that is setting you back.  Could you stop more CC on your healer if you paid more attention?  Do you get faked all the time?  Are you using defensives unwisely?  How fast is your reaction time?  For example, after eating a CC that you must trinket/IBF, how long does it take you to do it?  This last question could be one of reaction time or of efficient keybinding.
Good luck. :)

Hey man I appreciate that!

I poured my life into that guide and the research behind it, and never heard too much direct feedback after applying it to use (most of it was wow this looks well done), so it's nice to see someone who benefited from it

I had a few requests to update it for 7.0 which surprised me but someone else has it covered. Maybe if unholy gets good again :P

Sorry for derail!

Id definitely say make as many friends as you can out there. Play with everyone. Don't be concerned with rating. As you become a better player, your rating will rise since you will find better partners to play with. This is how I got pretty good back in the day, but my mistake is that at some point I subconsciously decided that I get to pick and chose who to play with, because lots of people wanted to play with me. After deciding on a small select group, I basically stopped playing with everyone, and focused hard with that little group. I did great with them, and we did great season after season. However as the game evolved and grew older, many of those classes that my little group played became incompatible with death knight. Additionally sometimes people quit/go casual/whatever. In the end I was left with no one to play with, and ended up quitting. Upon returning I had even less options for partners, often resorting to LFG playing with people who are far below my potential because now that is all I can get. Well partially because I refuse to play frost and who the fuck wants to play with an unholy, Amirite?

Moral of the story:
Play with everyone, all season. If you start to do great, make an alt of the same class and play with everyone on that character. Don't shut people out because you think you're good or something, don't get overly comfortable with the people you did good with. Be comfortable with a class as a partner, not a player

You don't like doing 12k disease while ferals do 100k rake?

DK dot really needs to do like 50k ticks minimal

#4484028 Necrotic strike hype

Posted by Ownu on 24 August 2015 - 12:51 AM

Now you're just lying to yourself. Last expansion we were getting 200k+ crits on the high end with Soul Reaper. And I do remember a lot of DKs at the time saying ''yeah Soul Reaper damage is retarded nobody agrees with this kind of damage'', so now Soul Reaper doesn't instakill at 35% if it crits, and it's considered weak?

Basically this, and it's even 45% for Unholy atm.

Definitely not lying to myself about anything when mortal strike, which is instant damage, hits harder than soul reaper on average, an "execute" that can be dispelled and takes 5 seconds to detonate. Please stop acting like unholy is actually good. It may not be horrible, but please don't try to say its good.

Idk if he's trying to troll me or if he genuinely thinks it's what should happen.

In before you are the culprit that gave him the idea to remove our trinkets, and then not give us tools at the same time

also, lich would probably suck ass if it were preemptive only. Due to arena123, it can be hard to tell if you are actually the fear target or not, given the situation. I can't see a 2 minute cooldown being worth taking based on "maybes" alone

No idea why people keep asking for old abilities back, the decision made to remove it in the first place means that the chance of just bringing it back is incredibly slim. This goes mostly for necrotic strike.

DK's need something totally new, exciting and actually good to make them what they were, not just old abilities being brought back.

Rend came back

you can have hungering cold back if you aren't able to trinket every single shadow dance 8D

I would trade Desecrated Ground for Hungering Cold. Or maybe have Hungering cold instead of the worst stun in the game (Remorseless Winter), and then we would actually have to make a choice on that tier.

they did the same thing with hungering cold too. They took it away from DK, and gave it to paladin in the form of Blinding Light

#4453073 I am a very sad Death Knight :(

Posted by Ownu on 14 July 2015 - 06:26 PM

I honestly don't see this changing anytime soon, Warriors do everything DKs do, but better - DKs really need some of their utility back, Desecrated Ground would be a start, and I'd like to see Death Coils/Necrotic Strike becoming a thing again.

They could do something with this worthless Death Coil glyph, that heals shields for 5k and doesnt stack. They could do something with this worthless Pillar of Frost glyph, that makes you immune to CC at the cost of CCing you (wtf??)

Dks arent that bad just play tsg or ebola cleave :)

TSG is not very good at all right now

Necrotic Strike was a nice tuning tool for that -- that they threw away
