New Mage Mastery - 5.4

18 July 2013 - 12:33 AM

Didn't see a thread but this is taken from MMO champ:

Old Mastery reverted this added:

Mastery: Frostburn When you damage enemies with Frostbolt, Frostfire Bolt, and your Water Elemental's Waterbolt, 12% of the damage done is stored as an Icicle with you, for 15 sec. Up to 5 Icicles can be stored at once. Casting Ice Lance causes any Icicles to begin launching at the target. Mage - Frost Spec.

Ice Lance Deals [ 260 + 25% Deals [ 336 + 32.3% of Spell Power ] Frost damage to an enemy target. Ice Lance damage is quadrupled against frozen targets. 1% of Base Mana. 40 yd range. Instant.

Ice lance damage buff to compensate for old mastery removed.

Region Wide Arena!

5.4 Region Wide Arena!

With the upcoming patch you will be able to queue arena against anyone else in your region, I will be discussing what this means for WoW arena, and how it will benefit players as a whole.

What is Region Wide Arena?

Region wide arena just means you can queue up arena and not be restricted to facing teams that are only on your battle group / battle group pool. Currently the system is restricted to 2-3 battle groups that your pool can face, that will be no longer in the upcoming patch.

What has changed?

The major change with this patch is that there will be no more arena teams! This is a huge change, which means you can invite anyone to a group and queue up arena you will have a personal rating for each bracket which will increase / decrease, the same way the rated battle ground system currently works.

How does this benefit me?

This new system means that you can invite anyone even cross realm and queue arena without having to worry about leaving your team. This will also save you some money on server transfers to play with your friends!

How do ladders work?

Ladders will be the same as how the RBG ladder is currently, gladiator will be obtained based on % as it is now, but will be calculated on how many active players there are in the whole region, rather than just a battle group.

A rank 1 or equivalent title will also be given based on percentage.

Possible Title Requirements:

Rank 1: End a PvP season in the top 0.1% of the arena ladder (requires 50 games won in Season 14).

Gladiator: End a PvP season in the top 0.5% of the arena ladder (requires 50 games won in Season 14).

Duelist: End a PvP season in the top 3% of the arena ladder (requires 50 games won in Season 14).

Rival: End a PvP season in the top 10% of the arena ladder (requires 50 games won in Season 14).

Challenger: End a PvP season in the top 35% of the arena ladder (requires 50 games won in Season 14).

What does this mean for WoW arena?

If this system turns out to be a success then it could mean brilliant things for the arena scene. It will increase competitiveness on ladders since all players will be able to actively play against each other. It could decrease queue times, currently at high ratings queue times are generally long. With this new system there will be a larger range of high rated teams to face!
