All S1-S4 and stuck at 1500. . . why??

15 August 2008 - 03:27 AM

Me & a 2 friends started up a 2v2 & 3v3 team and we cannot get passed 1550. We don't have crap gear, but also don't have anything that requires 1600 or greater to get. Mostly S2/S3 & non rating S4.
We go up & down between 1450 - 1550 & everytime we think we are making a run to 1600 we start fighting people with S3 & S4 weapons, S4 legs, chest & boots!?!? and we get smashed down back to 1480 cause these guys are taking 17 points from us.

Yes, maybe we suck. . . but then again, maybe THIS is the answer

Glad's with new teams raising up over & over again for big prizes??
Guess I'll just have to QQ at 1500 until after the Oplympics are over. Thanks AJ :(

What kind of latency do you play with?

05 August 2008 - 05:26 AM

I've seen one comment saying something like "70 ms can ruin your game"
I've also seen posts talking about watching other players global coold down (which is only 1 second, right? ) and reacting to that as if it is very easy.

When I play my latency is always above 70 ms and it's green. I've noted 136 ms, 98 ms, 187 ms.

So my question becomes, what kind of latency do people who reach Gladiator status play with? Are all you guys playing with less than 70 ms latency?? Will more than that (say 130 ms) really make the difference between say 1650 rating & 2000 rating?

what does gib & glaive mean?

05 August 2008 - 04:32 AM

In reading the rogue forums I see some terms used a lot & I don't know what they mean. So far I can't figure out

- gib (gibbing, hgibbed?)
- glaive (glave?)

Would anyone be kind enough to explain them? :)

Combat/Mace Rogue vs Resto Shaman

23 July 2008 - 11:31 PM

I went 1 v 1 against a resto shaman in an AV for about 2 minutes straight & could not beat him.

I currently use S1 mace in MH & S2 dagger in OH.
I have mostly S2/S3 pvp gear with a couple crappy blues in ring & cloak.
I have AR & Prep.

The shaman had over 10k HP and good mana regen (he only had about 300 mana when I caught him).

While we were fighting I got Cheap Shot off on him twice. Got at least 3 Kidney Shots, Blinded him, Gouged him, Kicked him. I tried to do every kind of interrupt I could think of to try & interrupt his heals, but I couldn't stop his heals 100% or even enough to finish him. I'd get him down to about 20$ twice, but I could not stop him from healing enough to finish him.

Specifically I kicked (and stopped) one of his heals and he instantly case another heal (how can he do that??). Do Shaman have 2 diff class of heals where if one is locked (which it should have been by my kick) he can cast another?

His fire totem and his hits were widdling me down. I finally quit & just ran away when I realized I was at half & he was back up at full health & his mana was just going up from when I had caught him after 2 min of fighting.

Am I doing something wrong, or are other rogues having issues with resto shaman?? Driving me nuts.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Want to give Arena a serious go, need advice

11 July 2008 - 01:25 AM

Hello.
First, I’m not a great PvP’er. But I would like to really try & see what I can do. I’m going to try & set up a 2v2 or 3v3 team with a couple friends (all average) and I’m looking for the best mix/spec for the chars we got.

Pool of players are:
- Priest or Hunter or Rogue (mine)
- Warlock or Rogue (friend 1)
- Shaman (friend 2)

Me & friend 1 are willing to respect to whatever get us the best chance to raise our ranking. Friend 2 is Elemental Shaman & he’s pretty stuck on that lightning. :)
I prefer to play my rogue, but will play whatever is best.

We don’t have access to any gear above the non-rating-required PvP gear, Kara) or Hero Badges

I’ve read over the rogue forums and some of the diff combos people talk about here, but I’m looking for your thoughts on what would be the strongest combo out of the chars we got & which specs would be best, given the level of gear we have access to.

Any/All feedback is welcomed & appreciated.

Thanks!
