Why would he? People act as if he were the devil incarnate because he voted for Qatar 2022. The reality is slightly different as he was politically pressured into doing it by the French government itself and especially Nicolas Sarkozy, who held meetings with Platini & Qatari representatives at the Presidential palace, l'Élysée. There's a large difference between voting in exchange of money (corruption) and voting as a political scheme. I'm sure Platini wasn't too thrilled voting in favor of Qatar, but he understands politics and when you have the fucking government strong-arming you, there's not much you can do.

Other than that he has a vision of football that I respect a lot and I agree with most of his ideas. The arguments I see thrown against him all the time don't really hold much ground:
-his son works for Qatar - sounds  a lot like conspiracy theory
-he's anti-video refereeing - most people with a clue and deep-rooted in the football culture agree with him, me included
-plan to play Euro 2020 in several countries - I'm not too thrilled about it because I like the fact that international competitions take place in one defined area, but it's not that big a deal
-his comments about how Ribéry should go back to the French NT - he's free to say it, I disagree with him but again don't think it's a big deal

Now, France has been pretty shady about FIFA things in recent years. Zidane was paid >€10 million to lobby for the Qatar WC. Our FA president, Noël Le Graët, has said that he will support Blatter in the upcoming election because FIFA has awarded France the women's WC of 2019. I'm not sure there's corruption involved but I'm a bit ashamed by the French's reaction to all this, TBH
