#3258268 Enhancement Shaman [ PVP Feedback ]

Posted Grumsch on 24 May 2011 - 10:55 PM

Enhancement is as bad off as ele is at the moment, with no fixes aimed at enhancement at all, the future lookes as grim as it did back at my original post on 07 January 2011 . For anybody that didnt realise it, enhancement is dead in pvp. Simple bug fixes wont fix our beloved spec, the not so simple problem is a changed enviroment in which, instant aoe and passive cc abilitys together with heavy single player burst damage combined with high aoe damage abilitys are standarts. This sugestions are simple options, that would lift the spec to the same level as all other melees with the exclusion of rets in pvp. The idear is to have enhancement as equaly good, as this other current efficent melee specs, rather then sub-par. At the current status quo of the game, my sugestions would be resonable, which might say more about the state of wow then my sugested options.

Sugestions:

-Make wolfs a permanent pet
-Shamanistic rage should be usable in any state
-Increase the stun duration of bash to 6 sec
-Keep our pet cds as they are (shorten spriritwalkers grace duration)
-We need a talent to reduce damage from all sources on us by around 15%
-We need a second high damage spike attack, to do around the same amount  of damage then ll at the moment (sugestion increase stormstrike damage  by 150%)
-Increase our overall damage by 15% (ontop of wolfs)if the stormstirke change should add  around the amount to our overall damage then this would be sufficent
-Bind Elemental should be usable with maelstrom procs
-Add the Flamethoung glyh that adds the full effect of it to the frostbrand weapon imbue.

Enhancement is one of two almost pure single target melee dps specs, whitch lets be fair here, got no noteworthy aoe damage abilitys in pvp. There is no aoe pressure that a enhancement shaman can dish out, and ontop of it, our singelplayer damage is also not up to par. One of the big offensive problems for enhancement is also that with increased offensive pressure, windshear  gains more significans. One of the resons enhancement works so good with top pvp dps dealers (that are borderline op) is the easy formular, increased damage pressure=increased windshear value. And yes, this value for cc/interrupts holds true for alot of setups but, enhancement got little cc overall, and hex as a curse is by many setups easy to negate, while windshear even while faked, is a annoyance on a short cd that is hard to deal with during high pressure, no matter if healer or dpser trying to suport. My point is, the enhancement spec in pvp is relying on high damage pressure, as weaker as the spec it self is, as more as another class/spec needs to compensate it, to the point where another spec or conditions (beastcleave bloodlusted pets) need to be op to make enhancement work. And in this process, the spec it self can look very potent, since it can play to its strengh, while in fact the spec is and never was all that great. I am sure there is a sweet spot in which the spec can do enough damage, with decent survivability to not be that reliant on a extream dpser.

#2956728 Sugestions on how keep enhancement viable after bl nerf

Posted Grumsch on 07 January 2011 - 08:54 AM

With bloodlust getting unusable in arena, enhancement shamans lose one of there trademark tools that they brought to teams. With a possible nerf to purge, enhancements future looks grim. Here is a list of sugestions that might help the spec to be on paar with other melee dps specs.

Sugestions:
-Make wolfs a permanent pet
-Shamanistic rage should be usable in any state
-Increase the stun duration of bash to 6 sec
-Keep our pet cds as they are
-We need a talent to reduce damage from all sources on us by around 15%
-We need a second high damage spike attack, to do around the same amount of damage then ll at the moment (sugestion increase stormstrike damage by 150%)
-Increase our overall damage by 15% if the stormstirke change should add around the amount to our overall damage then this would be sufficent
-Bind Elemental should be usable with maelstrom procs
-While enhancement shamans use Spiritwalker's Grace they should not be able to get affected by silencing effects
-Add the Flamethoung glyh that adds the full effect of it to the frostbrand weapon imbue.
-Fix the bugs in arenas so pets dont get stuck any more

Things i would like to see enhancement offer for rated bgs:
-Waterwalking that dose not break on damage gives a raid wide buff and is usable while mounted
-The old windfury totem with the adidition to affecting casts in the same way as melee or ranged attacks

#2847969 [Shaman] Question for long time Enhance Shamans

WF/FB vs FB/FT

What do you use?

FT on offhand can help push out those huge Lava Lashes but the actual weapon imbue is kinda weak compared to a WF proc. Though it does proc from every hit whereas WF is RNG but hits with a much larger number.

I've done testing on target dummies and FB/FT comes out to higher dps but since there's no resil in mind it's not really an accurate test to which has better burst/dps.

Hi there, at the moment i use mainly wf/ft, but come cata we will use wf/fb again for arena and bgs, since we got a physical non dispellable snare through frostbrand weapon, thats gonna get increased to 70% movmenet speed reduction through the use of unleashed weapon, come cata.

I found this a good read:

Hope i could help, plus rep me if you do.
