I don't understand why they actively don't want WoW to become a decent pvp game. They have everything needed. They built an amazing house with one floor in TBC. It had lots of light, quiet bedrooms, decent plumbing and a nice garden. The furnishings weren't all there but atleast there was a table, some chairs and a couple of cupboards for cheap dishes. Then they added a swimming pool in WotLK which may have taken some space from the garden but it was a very nice improvement during hot summers. The cheap dishes were replaced by fine porcelain. Then they wanted to add another floor to accomodate more guests. So instantly the skylights of the first floor had to go. Then came the added concrete pillars for support. By the third floor you've got so many people all flushing their urine and shit through the same pipes, which burst on the first floor. But it's ok because the floors above still seem ok. But the first floor, one that was once filled with glorious light, where a couple of friends hung out together in a cozy room has now become a swamp of feces.
HoTS isn't objectively good if you don't like last hitting.
You're wrong. Gold economy, last hitting, personal levels - none of that is complex. It's all very simple design that's not hard to grasp for anyone that's played pc games for a while - and especially not in the age of internet. Don't kid yourself, dota2 or league builds that you can check in 5 secs on an internet site or youtube are a fucking babywalk compared to old school games where you actually had to figure stuff out for yourself. Last hitting has the complexity of moorhuhn jagd from like 15 years ago, a 2d hit-a-chicken facebook game, had facebook existed at that point. Personal levels don't mean shit when it's a team game. Also, if you make a team and your teammates are shit, how does this make the game shit? It doesn't it's your teammates that are shit, if you don't like them, get a new team.
He rode the wave of goodness that was created by Kalgan and was the first one to slowly ruin the game. Don't ever forget he is the one that gave dispel to every healer and removed it from sp/ret, handed out self heals like cookies and started the road towards complete homogenization we are on right now.
I guess this is also a huge issue Blizzard devs are facing. Because they do not have any experience with the game themselves you get a weird situation where they are completely reliant on feedback. However they fail to discern between the different feedbacks given. While they may realize they have to listen to the suggestions of high rated players over those of lowrated players, they probably do not see the difference between a mongoloid MoP hero like Pounced and lets say someone like Lolflay. "They are both high rated multiglads so surely their opinions weigh the same?" Blizzard thinks.
And as long as enough MoP heroes come up with handicapped suggestions like "Gouge needs to be removed" and "Poly needs a cd" etc and scream loud enough Blizzard might actually follow up on their feedback and ruin the game even further.
