Watching the tournament made me realise something - the game looks like a fucking christmas tree on fire.
Like what the fuck is going on here. The warlock is obviously fucking purple. The guy we're looking at is grey/blue with some kind of circular thing going out from his body and some more shit is going on on the ground. There's two guys running around in the background, but you can't really make out what the guy is due to some bubbly stabby thingy around his character.
There's so many spells, auras and other flashy things that just makes the game look like a big blur of flashing lights. It's impossible to make out what the heck is going on based on what you can actually see on the screen.
If we want more players to watch and get interested in the game, I think we need to clear up the spell effects. When enchants first came around they were cool, but we didn't really stop to think if it was a good idea in the long run. We just kept doing bigger and more flashy things.
Moreover, I found the lack of healthbars over people really disruptive. Can't we look a bit towards the MOBA scene and figure out how to better show what's going on with each character?
