Its to give the "pvp" people more time to test out the new Pokemon system. It already seems more balanced than arena so i think arena will be replaced by Pokemon tourny at next Blizzcon 8DDDDDDDD

#3772844 European tournaments - assembling a team

Posted WildeHilde on 17 September 2012 - 07:34 AM

Over the last weeks the stunlocked team started to work on a concept for European online WoW tournaments. We have a working tournament UI and will run showmatches for testing over the next weeks. We want to bring not only the well-known names that participated at tournaments for years but also new teams. Right now we are looking for members that would like to join the team and make a name for themselves as shout-casters and streamers/camera men. This is not based on server or guild - we look for participants from all over Europe.

The idea
Competitive communities are based on tournaments. This is where champions are born and names are made. I strongly believe that MoP has a good chance to have a competitive pvp scene. Sponsors are looking at WoW again. Now is the opportunity to make it happen and we want to build a team for that.

You need to be communicative, entertaining and have a good awareness and class-knowledge. Also you need to speak English well. We have one shout-caster up until now and we would love to expand that. Shout-casting needs training of course, but I am certain that a lot of capable casters are around in the EU. If you want to make a name for yourself, let me know and we can give you the chance to participate during our wargame tests.

Camera men and streamers
You need a good connection and a computer that can handle recording the matches while streaming. You also need a good awareness of the game and be able to let the viewers see the critical moments of the matches. We currently have one streamer for the tournaments.

Video artists
The tournament videos all will all be on youTube. We would love to have them edited by someone that has expertise in this area or is willing to build it up. You need video software and have knowledge about editing.

Designers and Illustrators
If you are a good designer or illustrator we can certainly use your help on the team.

What we have Required
You need to have Raidcall installed, as this software will be used for communication around the tournaments and has a much better security than Skype, especially against DOS/DDOS attacks.

What about cash?
This is one of the goals, but if you look for something that will pay your rent this will not suffice. Once the tests are finished we will contact potential sponsors with an expose. Price money is the first thing to spend money on. It is not my goal to make money with tournaments, but to support cash prices and the team with money from sponsors and add-revenue.

#3773152 ArenaJunkies Ghostcrawler interview - post your questions

Rather than a bunch of questions, here's a list of suggestions:

  • A form of spectating arena games.
  • Bring the old armory back where you could see which team played who at what time and what rating they gained. I thought that armory was absolutely fantastic and outside of possible data management issues I don’t understand why it was removed.
  • I am also in favor of Rating Decay, as it promotes fair game play and also promotes ladder activity.
  • Get WoW back on the MLG circuit! Big tournaments like these get more people into PvP and more people into the game.
  • Allow the gladiator title/rewards to be achieved through 2v2 arena bracket, but not rank 1 titles. I remember back in burning crusade, the biggest thing that brought all of my pve friends into arenas was doing 2v2 with friends, which then led them to wanting to improve and eventually into playing 3v3 and 5v5 arena. It is a great entry bracket and giving some kind of reward for it would stimulate arena activity in all brackets.

  • All of rogues cooldowns need to be reduced back to what they were pre talent removal, Vanish/cloak/evasion/blind etc. Going to 3 minute cds again really destroys the fluidity of rogue gameplay.
  • One of the three talents on the level 60 tier needs to be baseline. Rogue damage should then be re-evaluated with the new change of mobility (this makes rogues easier to balance and more fun to play). I suggest shadowstep baseline, with smokebomb as a replacement to shadowstep, and a talent that passively reduces the cooldown of all rogue cooldowns by 45% as a replacement to burst of speed. This would also handle the problem I have listed above. To recap, that tier (lvl 60) would be Prep | New talent | Smokebomb.
  • Rogue Subtlety damage needs to be increased outside of dance by about 20% at level 90. Namely backstab. Also, a glyph allowing you to use it from the sides or increased range would be very helpful for the players with 120+ latency.
  • Also a glyph to allow shadowstep to root the target for 2 seconds (Is on diminishing returns with all other roots) would be a very nice change and would add some decision making to our glyph choices.

Why you deleted skirmish ? It was a very major thing in the game, for us, pvp players.
Skirmish were much MORE used than wargames.

I really want them back in the game like a lot of players.

Is faking ID's now a legit way to get R1? Since Xandyn got it and my innocent team got DQed.

Make a suggestion/why they can't/haven't made the que time shorter to connect to different battlegroups. This will make it harder for people to wintrade and it will make the game a lot more fun since you spend more time in arena than sitting in elwyn forest waiting for que to pop. It also makes it harder for people to snipe different teams and will give you some comp diversification.

Why don't they introduce rating decay and polish the matchmaking system in general? There's rating decay WC3 and SC2, why not in WoW?

A corrupted matchmaking system and very long queues even on low/average ratings for no apparent reasons take away a lot from the fun of playing arena, more than all the imbalances in the game combined. Rating decay would solve low activity on the high end of the ladder, AS WELL as combat boosting because you won't be able to just park a character/team in glad range and be done with it (increase the decay if there's less than 3 players in the team, too).

And question number two, why does 5v5 still grant titles? For the past few years people have only used that bracket to quite literally farm rank 1 titles - sharing and getting it for as many friends as possible.

Rating decay in teams, it needs to be done that simple.

#3772869 VOTE FOR EASTERN HUB, this hub will be separate from Tich, and for the player...

Posted Emopandah on 17 September 2012 - 08:09 AM

Central is basically East latency wise, you accusing West coast players of being selfish and not wanting to play with higher latency is complete hypocrisy on your part.

You wanted a poll and west won, grow up and accept it.
