#3977131 This game used to be so great

To be honest the way I see it, the game is actually a lot better than what it was in BC or Wrath. BUT we've all been playing it for so long that the experience is different now, more boring because we've seen it a million times and the game seems worse because we were having more fun at the time when the game was shittier. The nostalgia is what made the game so much "Better" in BC or Wrath. The mechanics, movement, graphics, and overall quality wasn't anything like it is now. However there were things back then that were a lot more fun for it's time . Does any of this make sense to you guys?
Mechanics-
You could easily tell the difference between a gladiator and a random 2k mage because the gladiator would bait out the cs and wand twice to delay the eventual poly. Good rogues would weapon swapping deadly poison as sub to protect wound from poison cleansing totem. Getting hard casts off were rewarding and realistic to do so, instants were mana inefficient(huge risk/reward) and could not create/alleviate  pressure by itself.
Movement-
Juking priest fears, warrior/hunter deadzone kiting, jumping roots, strafing cone of cold. Low amounts of mobility cds across all classes using them requires a lot of thought process and coordination.
Graphics-
Ok lol

There were terrible imbalances in tbc and wotlk but that was only an issue of numbers. Flat ARP was too strong, damage was too high for certain classes; If the numbers were tweaked it would have been a good game. Even if all the numbers are balanced now the game is terrible from a design standpoint.

The game is no longer technical.Being good is  no longer about the fake casting mind game, juking novas as a warrior, vanishing blinds, gouging blink, cloning lifebloom etc. The metagame has degraded to  using your cds correctly because there is so many nowadays.

As long as the rogue is smart about using dances and kicks he will win.

You can just nova both targets, deep the dispeller and ring both of them.

#3178628 [ Mage ] Getting trained

Posted Synexus on 12 April 2011 - 02:02 AM

1)You/your partners needs to lock down/cc the dispeller so you can nova/slow melee off you. Unlike other classes, you have to make room to deal damage.(Haste helps)
2)It is comp specific, high caliber mages do similar damage to their rogue counterparts while being trained.(Ice armor vs melee teams for pressure and swapping back at 20% mana)
3)Don't cc for the sake of ccing. Only cc as a peel/stop pressure or for a kill, if you know the opponent is not going to be taking a lot of damage during the cc don't cc them. DR management is one of the most important things for a mage, if poly dr is resetting in 3 seconds its better to wait most of the time than to get a half sheep.
4) Vileroze 4 for positioning/blink useage/cc.
5) Yes. We try to have a strong opener and keep them at their back foot for most of the game. As long as you are dictating the pace of the game you will win. Your partners should be helping you set up a scenario where you can chain cast.

Lemme explain this to you.
Ferals are overpowered.
However, skill plays a huge role.
You are not skilled, so even though you are overpowered better people beat you.
There are barely any skilled ferals, even though the class is overpowered.
Example: We fought a feral team at 2600, the feral didn't even cyclone and they were garbage. How did he get that high? He knows the very basics to playing an overpowered class.
Second example: We played Jslol on our BG multiple times, hunters suck, but he's good and very hard to kill. We killed him, but it certainly wasn't a pushover.
He can play one of the worst classes very well, that's why he's up there and most ferals who suck are not. Ferals are better than rogues right now, but why are there so many rogues up there? Since there are so many better rogues playing. Ferals should be able to tear damage, stick on their target, and have great cc. However it requires you to know how to play.
Solution: Learn to play.
This. Playing against medse is way different than other 2300 ferals on bg9. He is much more meticulous about cd usage and positioning thus limiting a lot of options and opportunities we have. It is expected for a 2300+ rogue to focus kicks while if you do it as feral you are considered to be one of the best.

Yup. I agree with this.

Because classes are different.

Besides, it's a big trade-off. It's effectively the same thing as going into defensive stance. It costs a lot of runic power, multiple global cooldowns and makes the death knight lose a powerful offensive cooldown.
Using your logic rogues should be able to heal themselves for 12k hp every global with shadowdance up.

How about,

Buff FB by 30%

Change Tigers Fury to act as if the target has 0 armor for those 6 seconds. No more 15% dmg buff though.

lol
