#3179230 Hunters in 4.1

Posted Gadsby on 12 April 2011 - 09:52 AM

Playing Feral/BM/Shaman and cant wait till 4.1

The only teams we ever lose to are warrior teams so hopefully we'll get a big boost. Yesterday we played 20 games and 19 had a warrior in them...

Have tried both MM and BM extensively in this comp up to 2650ish and actually find BM to be better, flame away :)

Started frapsing, and pretty new with sony vegas so except some mistakes @ games and editing, normally playing without fraps / so not quite used to it. Yes there are mistakes but I wasn't at my best either when I played this, enjoy.
Might fraps some better matches and better editing later if we get any feedbacks, maybe from 3v3 aswell. Cy@ start the flame fest.

Was that a 4.5 second Aimed Shot cast I seen? Looking forward to it!

Guys, Ghostcrawler plays a mage and 1 time he got killed by a hunter. And that is why hunters must be nerfed passively by buffing other classes.

I'm so waiting for 4.1 to watch the hunter class go down to 2% rep again haha pooooorrrrrrrr KFC.

#3169254 Would scatter shot being made into a stun be OP?

Posted Mom on 06 April 2011 - 05:29 PM

I don't think this change is necessary nor would it fix some of the mechanics of the Hunter Class. Monkey stun was OP when it existed, if they brought it back with Hunter's better damage now, then Hunter comps would be out of control.

Clunky and/or bugged mechanics are what's holding the Hunter class back from being more viable at top tier play. Fix trap resists and revert scatter pathing to what it was in S8 would be a great step in the right direction.

Removing deadly poison from snake trap, untying Frost Trap and Freezing Trap CDs from one another, and changing entrapment to a 1 point talent that roots for 2 seconds (with no DR) would increase the skill cap and fluidity of our class.

EDIT: The choices in your poll are abysmal and will most likely ruin any chance of a proper discussion regarding this topic.

#2999335 Conquest Points [GUIDE]

Posted Watlok on 20 January 2011 - 12:01 AM

How do conquest points work?

-Your conquest point cap is set based on the highest personal rating you achieved during the previous week.

-Weeks begin on the server reset day.  Tuesday for US, Wednesday for EU.

-You gain points as you win games until you hit your cap.

How many games do I have to play per week to not get the minimum point cap next week?

A minimum of one game must be played, win or lose, using the team you want to base your point cap on.  For arenas, you must also have 30% of the games played for the week on that team.

What if I server transfer/faction change?

Your highest rating achieved in a played game that week will count under some circumstances.  Faction changing allows you to keep it for sure. Disbanding the team will not lower your cap.  Server changes can reset your cap.

Example: If you play one game on a 3k rated team, delete the team, and move to the opposite faction on the same server you will get a point cap like you were 3k rated.

How many conquest points am I going to get?

ArenaJunkies Conquest Point Calculator

An image showing conquest point gain in RBG and Arena by rating By Felbent.

Do rated BGs, 5v5, 3v3, or 2v2 reward a higher conquest point cap?
RBGs and Arenas give different caps depending on rating.  See the graph linked above for more information.

All arena brackets raise your conquest point cap equally.  If you are 2k in 2v2 you get the same point cap as a 2k player in 5v5.

I heard there is a bug that resets my cap to the minimum.

If you login and change zones between the time conquests reset and the time when servers restart your cap may be reset.   I have never experienced this so I can not explain the exact details, but you may want to proceed with caution on maintenance days if you value your conquest point cap.

Is it based on team rating or personal rating?

Your conquest point cap is based solely on personal rating (pr) no matter how close you are to the team.  If your pr is above the team's rating you will gain more points than the team rating.

How many games per week do I have to play to hit my weekly point cap?

It depends on your cap.  Arenas reward 180 points per win and rated battlegrounds reward 400.

Can doing a random battleground give me extra points?

No. Random battlegrounds do not give extra points.  It's outdated and confusing that they give any conquest points at all to uncapped players.  The amount is far too low to cap off of.

What is the conquest point cap?

The weekly cap is 2700 for arenas and 3300 for RBGs.

Blizzard has stated the maximum number of conquest points you can have is effectively uncapped.

How can I check my highest rating for the week?

Log in to the Armory and view the pvp tab of your character.  You can see "Highest Personal Rating This Week" there.  This is the rating that will be used to determine your point cap.  If you transfer or faction change this statistic won't be accurate.

Do you have to play 30% of an arena team's games for the week to get points?

If anything is wrong or could be expanded on feel free to post.

yeah well you interpreted it completely wrong, stop making assumptions its dumb

You completely interpreted it wrong.

Basically what they said was they feel that hunters are on equal footing to other classes if the hunter is very skilled, but they are at a disadvantage otherwise.

For example, say you can rate a player's overall skill regardless of class with rating, 100 being the highest and 1 being the lowest.  They say that a 95 rated player that is playing a hunter is pretty much balanced relative to a 95 player playing another class.

But a 50 rated player playing a hunter is much worse off than if he had chosen another class.

In other words, its not the "skill cap" they are interested in changing, but rather the "skill floor".  They are essentially saying a hunter is useless relative to other classes at lower levels, because you need to master it to make it work.  A 95 rated hunter would achieve a wow rating of 2800, and any other class with a 95 player would also be 2800, but a 50 rated hunter would only be 1500 rated, while a 50 rated player of another class would be 1800.

I can also give an example of the opposite of this. Think wotlk rets. s5/s6 rets were incredibly good at low levels, but not so much at high levels.  Yes there are exceptions to this, but these are all just generalizations.

People are way to quick to jump on the blizzard hate train...

Jesus you have alot of res, but is that 5% reduction really worth the 4% less crit? atm marks is the rng fest of will i hit hard or like a kitten, and i dont feel like an extra 500 res will save me most of the time.

Looking at it in this way is deceptive...  He has 38.53% damage reduction, you have 33.22% damage reduction.  Subtracting them and getting 5% does not provide a number of any use.

He takes 61.47% of all damage, you take 66.78% of all damage.  61.47/66.78 = .92.  He takes 8% less damage than you.  Alternatively, 66.78/61.47 = 1.086.  You take 8.6% more damage than him.

Would you rather take 8% less damage or gain 4% crit?  Also note that every extra point of resil he gains is more effective than every extra point of resil you gain.  When he upgrades to Vicious he will be getting more out of the resil than you do.

Making it harder to level only means that badass UltraGamers like yourself will hit max level and have no one to play with.
