#3773152 ArenaJunkies Ghostcrawler interview - post your questions

Posted Ayume on 17 September 2012 - 06:23 PM

Rather than a bunch of questions, here's a list of suggestions:

  • A form of spectating arena games.
  • Bring the old armory back where you could see which team played who at what time and what rating they gained. I thought that armory was absolutely fantastic and outside of possible data management issues I don’t understand why it was removed.
  • I am also in favor of Rating Decay, as it promotes fair game play and also promotes ladder activity.
  • Get WoW back on the MLG circuit! Big tournaments like these get more people into PvP and more people into the game.
  • Allow the gladiator title/rewards to be achieved through 2v2 arena bracket, but not rank 1 titles. I remember back in burning crusade, the biggest thing that brought all of my pve friends into arenas was doing 2v2 with friends, which then led them to wanting to improve and eventually into playing 3v3 and 5v5 arena. It is a great entry bracket and giving some kind of reward for it would stimulate arena activity in all brackets.

  • All of rogues cooldowns need to be reduced back to what they were pre talent removal, Vanish/cloak/evasion/blind etc. Going to 3 minute cds again really destroys the fluidity of rogue gameplay.
  • One of the three talents on the level 60 tier needs to be baseline. Rogue damage should then be re-evaluated with the new change of mobility (this makes rogues easier to balance and more fun to play). I suggest shadowstep baseline, with smokebomb as a replacement to shadowstep, and a talent that passively reduces the cooldown of all rogue cooldowns by 45% as a replacement to burst of speed. This would also handle the problem I have listed above. To recap, that tier (lvl 60) would be Prep | New talent | Smokebomb.
  • Rogue Subtlety damage needs to be increased outside of dance by about 20% at level 90. Namely backstab. Also, a glyph allowing you to use it from the sides or increased range would be very helpful for the players with 120+ latency.
  • Also a glyph to allow shadowstep to root the target for 2 seconds (Is on diminishing returns with all other roots) would be a very nice change and would add some decision making to our glyph choices.

He produces incredible work.  You can't even begin to count the deep, micro-tessellations within Matisse's fractal coding.  Really efficient work, really tight stuff.
This is truth.

Matisse's fractal coding:

He is that good.  Shit prints out a fractal.  Also it is shaped like a fractal.  Code just does not get better than this.

#3611212 Cunning of the Cruel

Posted GhostBustas on 11 January 2012 - 01:25 AM

I'd like to start a discussion on how this trinket Cunning of the Cruel is unbelievably bad.

Cunning of the Cruel is extremely bad and unreliable for a couple of reasons.

  • It doesn't scale correctly with gear, it's basically the equivalent of a quest item with INT on it
  • The trinket is only MEDIOCORE if its heroic and you have to spend half your life trying to get it with 24 other people who spend half their lives doing the same thing

I've started to do some number crunching with a few of my buddies we came up with these numbers after testing Cunning of the Cruel

This chart clearly shows it's doing less damage than Lightning Capacitor:

After number crunching, research shows Cunning of the Cruel is not scaling correctly, which is clearly shown by this equation

For all of you shadow priests that are picking this trinket up, I advise getting http://www.wowhead.com/item=77971 or http://www.wowhead.com/item=28785 <-which is ironically better than Cunning of the Cruel because it scales so well with gear

#3583348 NAO Invitational Tournament Discussion

Posted mukuld50 on 12 December 2011 - 03:37 AM

Hey guys!

I would like to thank you all for the awesome support that you gave us.  We definitely did not expect this to be as big as it was over this weekend.  Correct me if I am wrong, but I do not think that any  recent WoW event (besides Blizzcon obviously) has been able to generate the viewership numbers that we did over the weekend.

Below are some statistics from the two-days:

Saturday, December 10:

Average concurrent viewers: 3824
Maximum concurrent viewers: 6453
Unique visitors: 104,843

Sunday, December 11:

Average concurrent viewers: 5235
Maximum concurrent viewers: 7762
Unique visitors: 45046

With a total of: 963,770 page hits and 1,224 followers in only TWO days.

Continue to show us this kind of support, and we may actually be able to bring back WoW as an e-sport again :).  I know that there were a LOT of Blizzard people watching, and we have already created the buzz for them.

A huge shout out to Vhell and Hoodrych for their awesome shoutcasting, and Chris ThorMANN, Biotox, Novoz, and Austin for putting in the countless hours that they did to make this happen, and of course SKILL CAPPED for supporting us and making this possible financially.

Anyways! What did you guys think of the tournament? The games? The organization?  Please to post anything about any aspect of the tournament here.  We are learning, and we definitely want to make this as good of an experience for the WoW community as possible.  Post any kind of suggestions / feedback / comments / questions here!

Thanks again all, and expect to see another tournament in the next month or so ;)
