#4633873 "Your new profile page is here!"

Posted by Violatrix on 10 May 2017 - 06:48 PM

Okay, so yesterday I launched WoW, and in the bnet app's news pane, Blizzard proudly proclaimed that our "new profile page is here!"  The announcement went on to describe new features with info on raids, pvp, etc.

Was anyone else excited at the prospect of having something akin to the old wow armory again?  I sure was.  I wasted no time in checking out one of my toons, only to see that the new profile actually has less pvp information that the previous iteration of the armory, yet we now have access to comprehensive information on our battle pet/mount collections.

Am I missing something?  Honestly, I feel like I am still sleeping.  Do we really only have access to our pvp ratings now (not even win/loss stats)?

That's crazy that somebody cheating in a dead video game would make you that mad. Obviously him cheating and acting retarded about it is stupid. You just care way too much.

By "dead video game" you really mean--of course--either a "computer game with millions of subscribers" or "one of the most popular computer games of all time."

But yeah, that really is crazy.

I feel like you are intentionally misconstruing Blizzard's patch notes solely for the sake of justifying a complaint.

The notes do not say it would so the same damage in PVE and PVP, only that it would not benefit from a 10% damage modifier that had been in place previously in PVP combat.  "Normal" and "same" are not synonyms.

#4621684 PvP titles mean something again

Posted by Violatrix on 22 December 2016 - 10:38 PM

When did people get rank 1 for participating?  I don't think you understand how the titles work.

The rating (1500, 2000, 3000, 9001) is irrelevant.  What matters is the percentages.  If, for example, the Gladiator cutoff were 2000,  99.5% of people failed to reach 2000.  In other words, 2000 is a damned high rating relative to the rating the overwhelming majority of players achieved.

Rank 1 still means--as it has always meant--that a person (okay, technically, character) has achieved a higher rating than 99.9% of players.

#4619959 Seeking improvement

Posted by Violatrix on 06 December 2016 - 03:39 AM

I see a lot of solid advice here.  I played fairly seriously in Cata, and then took a few long breaks, and when I finally got back into playing again, I found that literally all of my former WoW pals had moved on, so in a way, I was in the same boat as you are in now.

First and foremost, keep playing.  You'll meet people, even if you are losing to them.  Even message people you play against, not to be a jackass rager, but to congratulate them sincerely on their gameplay.  As Shendelz noted above (side note, I learned to DK last xpac from his guide and got to well over 2k in 3s yolo-style, so I highly recommend listening/reading anything he has to say), don't worry about rating.  Just get in there and play.

Play RBGs.  I know, RBGs are not arenas, but you will meet people that way.  I met my most regular partner in an RBG, started to run fives with him, and eventually ran regular threes with him.

Finally, and this may be the hardest, record your own games and watch them with a critical eye.  What are you doing that is setting you back.  Could you stop more CC on your healer if you paid more attention?  Do you get faked all the time?  Are you using defensives unwisely?  How fast is your reaction time?  For example, after eating a CC that you must trinket/IBF, how long does it take you to do it?  This last question could be one of reaction time or of efficient keybinding.

Good luck. :)

Not rly meant to be an 'addon', instead, could be a way of 'solo' q for rated arena as Jimjim mentioned. For example could queue up either alone or with 2 players in group, and then select which classes you want to get matched with as 3rd. It could auto join with a similar mmr'd player from the chosen specs

Well, either way, I think it's awesome.  I hope Blizzard will take notice :)

Is this some sort of OQ-esque add-on for rated arena, perhaps?

What are they saying about 'we can confirm that this is correct'? What is 'this'? If you are banned for a reason (software or something), they have to say what it is I'd say.

The "we can confirm this is correct part" refers to the legitimacy of the original suspension, and Blizzard did say what the reason is:  "There is no evidence of any unauthorised access, and several instances of third party program usage."

I'm sorry, but I'm having a really hard time buying that someone out there hacked this dude's account, hacked into his network and/or spoofed his IP/MAC address (since Blizzard clearly determined that there was nothing suspicious in the network activity), and played rated games using prohibited third party programs.

Oh, oh!  I know, his mom logged into his account to get him banned so that he'd have no excuse not to do his homework.

#4612735 Generally BoPing Vendetta as AvengingCrusader Hpal?

Posted by Violatrix on 27 October 2016 - 08:45 PM

your mage friend is a moron. 5mins cd vs 1.5. as mage rogue pala
u can do lots of stuff: peel or outheal rather easilly. different if he wants to keep offensive but it's very situational. everyone playing "i see ability X i pop ability Y" is a mongoloid, results of the last 3shitty xpacs (mop, wod and this piece of shit, legion)

^  Pretty much this.  If you aren't having a problem healing through it, the mage needs to go $#@! himself.  Using a major cooldown when you don't have to is the very pinnacle of "bad."

Also, you might point out to him (if you even want to waste your time doing so) the grand irony of criticizing you for being unwilling to take advice while at the same time refusing to even consider your point of view.

#4563645 Question on MM ignoring sniper training (yes) what stat prio?

Posted by Violatrix on 04 February 2016 - 10:32 PM

Look, OP, I get that you are looking for "experts" to answer you, but that doesn't justify being a piece of garbage to people you deem to be non-experts.

Yes, you mentioned Lone Wolf, a level 100 talent, but you also used the term twink which means below level 100. You contradicted yourself, so the confusion is understandable and completely your own damned fault.

And yes, I second your call for the mods to close this topic, but let's be clear, the only "special" individual here is you. This isn't a restaurant, kid, where you have paid for a meal and can talk down to your waiter. You have come to a community site to ask for free advice. When nobody replied (you waited a whopping 3.5 hours), you commenced complaining that 75 people had viewed your topic, but not one had replied. So, out of kindness, someone replied, and you immediately jumped all over him like you are some kind of spoiled child.

I'll add your btag when I get home from work later tonight--I am always down for some games.

I see you do RBGs. I may be the last person here on AJ that actually enjoys RBGs (low pressure, low stakes), so I am willing to run some RBGs on my disc priest or hpally, too.

#4549389 Legion is the end

Posted by Violatrix on 05 December 2015 - 08:24 AM

with everything i've read and seen so far i can safely say blizzard are still clueless and legion is the end, of not only warcraft but blizzard as a company ive never seen a company make a game worse and worse as each expansion rolls out like ever. how can they not learn or listen why is there more pruning more fucking removal of key pvp elements why? srsly.

It's not even close to out yet. Do you look in your mom's pantry at the flour and sugar and say, "Mom, your cake looks like shit"?
