This game's PvP is not fun at the moment.

 

Like, I considered PvP always fun ( even during seasons when it was not really fun ) because you at least get fun rewards from it, but this shitshow is annoying to play. Shadow's mechanics are designed for PvE and not for PvP, no point banging your head against the wall. Don't get me wrong, Shadow is strong in a few comps and as long as you play good you'll do just fine, but Priests at the moment are simply not fun at all. Honestly I don't think any class is fun atm ( outside of stuff like.. WW Monks? )

 

Game overall is fun though if you're into PvE, that's what's keeping me subbed.

You can play disc RMP or disc jungle afaik.

 

Shadow pretty much only plays with a Feral Druid in 3s as well, save for an occasional Shatter.

 

Not a good time to be playing this game as a Priest tbh, both Shadow and Disc are not fun. You can climb ladder just fine if you're playing good, but it's completely antifun to play a Priest right now.

For Shadow:

 

- defensive ( self ) magic dispel.

- prayer of mending

- renew

- mind sear ( gone in 7.1.5......... ..................... ........................................................................................................................... )

- psychic horror

 

Other fixes:

 

- mana bar being horrible ( namely PWS spamming OOM's you, which should never happen; psychic scream should not cost mana )

- being tied to Torrent and Voidform, which are two mechanics unsustainable in PvP ( maybe increase insanity generation in PvP&make Void Torrent either uninterruptable or castable while moving )

Wow, first time in a quite a long time that an AJ topic is actually flourishing.

 

Disc IMO is fine. It's not fun having to turret Shadow Mend in certain situations but whatever really, spec works fine if you can play it properly.

 

Yeah there are a few healers that are over the top but that's something you need to solve by nerfing dumb shit on those healers. There are more pressing issues with the game than this ( fuck Ferals ).

First week or so of the season were super fun when people were just trying out random shit. Now that everyone started melee cleaving, the game basically became super boring to play and honestly, this is the first time I've thought to myself "heh, I might not bother queueing for the rest of the season".

 

The mechanics/fluidity of the game feels better than MoP/WoD ( other than the remaining instant CC still in the game ), however all of the improvements they actually made with Legion is overshadowed by how disgusting melee cleaves are and how much damage+pressure they do. The game pacing is ( almost ) perfect, there is almost no scripted PvP like there was in WoD, ordinary DPS rotation actually matters outside of cooldowns, but all of that is moot in a meta where if you're not playing 2x melee DPS+healer, you're doing it wrong.

 

You can obviously do fine as a caster ( RMP, Hpala Shatter, etc ), but it's not fun in the slightest.

 

 

If you do a mistake, you should pay for it - that was always my opinion when it came to this game's PvP, and everyone should be able to punish you HARD for that mistake ( melee cleavers, melee/caster/healer players, spell cleavers ) - current meta is basically 2 melee training one target until it dies, and your target rarely can do shit about it. There are also a lot of dumb mechanics to compliment this. For example, why is current spell reflect a thing? WHY does it not consume the spell after reflecting something? 

 

 

I still stand by my stance that Legion is the best expansion they've produced in ages. World content is fun, raiding is fun, mythic+ instance system is fun, artifacts are fun, professions are fun etc. PvP would be fun if melees weren't so ridiculously strong.

Im no theory crafter myself, so im really curious. In WoD versa was really good for SPs. Why is it lowest prio now? 

 

Because of the way SPs played. Like 99% of the time you were throwing out instants ( MB, DP, Horror, MS ( when procced ) ), and when you weren't throwing out instants, you were either Mindflaying or VTing. Mastery buffed majority of your damage in PvP by a larger margin than haste did, and Versa buffed both your damage and your survivability. Haste and crit were obsolete. If you'd geared for Haste in WoD, you'd do less damage than a Mastery/Versa Priest simply because he has harder hitting spells, whereas your Haste simply makes you cast a bit faster ( and your dots to tick a bit faster, your DoTs did like 10-20% of your damage back then, whereas dots do like 50-60% of your damage right now )

 

Actually now that I think about it, I'd go for Haste+Mastery. Crit is better than Mastery in PvE but that's only because of Auspicious Spirits, it's hard to imagine you'd get a lot of Insanity out of Apparitions in duels vs a single target. As for Versa, you'd have no use for Versatility if you geared for it ( we had like ~8% damage reduction from versatility in S18 IIRC? ) - that kind of thing is extremely good in prolonged 3v3 games when you've got a healer, while it's completely useless in 1v1 situations because that reduced damage is pointless unless you can get a shitload of it. It'd honestly be good for duels/worldpvp only if you'd manage to get like 20+% damage reduction out of it.

 

Haste buffs your damage the highest out of any stat ( its stat weight atm is above intellect, go figure ), and Mastery is a better stat in PvP in a situation where you can't multidot ( and we're talking world pvp/duels here ). So yeah.

 

 

Yep there's no PvP stat templates in World PvP/Duels, gear matters 100% in that situations. Legendaries, trinkets and all that stuff works.

Dunno what talents you use but i feel like, if you play with the insta void form talent and the rng mind blast proq you have a fair chance. Throw SwP on everything so you get MB proqs, then you get void form kinda fast. And with insta void you can easily control your burst with your partner.

 

Void Origins+Shadowy Insight should be a nobrainer choice in PvP at this moment. Idiots who pick Driven to Madness are precisely that, idiots. That talent is not going to save you from being stunned/snared/kicked/polymorphed/etc during Voidform.

 

And I keep seeing those "shadow will be good until people learn to lock down their damage and afterwards Shadow will be garbage". Yeah, people with a brain will eventually realise that they have your Insanity bar shown on their Gladius/arena frames and that they should pay attention once you hit 100 stacks because you'll enter Voidform and start to do more damage - at that point they'll stun/interrupt you once you enter Voidform and render it useless - in that situation, what exactly stops you from speccing Edge of Insanity, staying at 100 insanity and doing more damage than you do in Voidform and only entering Voidform once a minute to have some Lingering stacks up for the haste?

 

 

Answer: absolutely nothing stops you from doing that.

 

 

Voidform, Voidbolt and VoiT are obviously insanely good, but this isn't PvE. Voidform was designed with PvE in mind, and if we're being shut down super hard in Voidform, there's no point trying your hardest to play around a flawed mechanic when there's an almost-equally-good solution available.

You can only have one if you had wod ones in your bags unused before the prepatch. They are gone from the game currently

why is everyone even hating on double healer? one of the rare comps where you can usually control your character 100% of the game.
+ double healer was terrible for the last 2 expansions lol


I honestly didn't mind 2x healers back when mana actually mattered and they could actually go oom and shit. In WoD though? It was horrible. BEYOND horrible. Paladin&Priest who don't oom and a Combat Rogue who's wailing on your healer without ever even focuskicking.

Yeah i agree, it defeats the purpose of the system but I'm okay with it.


"The purpose of the system". You basically can't play arena or any form of competitive PvP if you're prestigeing, so the system was inherently broken to begin with. Nobody in their right mind will prestige if they're losing the ability to seriously PvP on the character for the next 2 weeks or so.

They're probably wrong. The only purpose that would have is extending Voidform, and the damage we do is retarded even without Voidform.

I'm usually not wrong regarding choosing stuff like this, let's see if this is an exception.
