All you people keep ripping him for having a stupid argument, yet no one explains what's stupid about it. He's right... every (viable) class has a macro or can otherwise set up cooldowns to do an insane amount of burst. And every (viable) class has a major defensive cooldown to SURVIVE said burst. I do agree with one of the previous posters, that the problem is in the details (at least to some extent). Who wants a class that doesn't burst? Who wants a class that can't survive burst?
Again, I feel like this is a fine model for the game, so long as instant cast CC is toned down. Or there has to be more balance as to which classes can dish out tons of damage and which can CC. It's not really fair for BM hunters to cc a healer for years, AND do tons of damage. Either there should be more dedicated roles, or they should just tune down instant CC for everyone.
Up until my last attempt at point capping, I was really upset that no one tries to have fun in the game anymore, everything is about just winning and how good the team record is, and all this competitive nonsense. I just wanted to play and have fun.
While I still think thats a good philosophy to have, fuck this game. OP is right, its like starcraft. You get countered with some build (comp), and you counter another. Except for the fact that you can't just reroll, and your stuck with whatever class you have.
There isn't anything wrong with the game as you just described it.. the way damage works is fine. Defensives, fine. The problem is the retardedness of instant CC, and just CC in general. I want to play the fucking game. Not just sit in crowd control all day. The game literally is no fun anymore.
The other large issue is theres no real satisfaction from winning in general. You either just countered the fuck out of them, they sucked, or you got lucky. Very occasionally you actually have a good match, and you can respect your opponents. Most times when you lose, its because of some dumbass fucking broken shit game mechanic... Ring of Peace, 400000 years of instant CC, mage deep froze you, etc
Obviously there is still some room to outplay opponents and thats why some people are higher rated than others consistently. But the way I perceive it now anyway, there just isn't any fun in winning, and a huge disappointment in losing.
Im a competitive person and I dont mind losing to superior competition. I would mind losing to someone when I run in a race and have to wear flip flops, or I have to start 100 meters behind. Same as I wouldn't find joy in winning if the reverse was true. Don't hate the player, hate the game. They also don't make big enough changes, and its about time they separated PVE from PVP.
I've held onto this game as long as I could, because there is just so much nostalgia, its hard to give up for good. But honestly, this game is trash. When you've played for so long, its just hard to accept that its over, but this expansion has finally done it for me
Frankly BM needs a nerf, no matter how you look at it. Marksman is honestly fine, I only play marks and my damage is usually top, and the CC is the same as BM minus intimidate of course. BM is just too strong with all the trinkets. I agree with the other poster who said earlier, BM gained all of the MM/SV utility, and MM/SV didnt gain anything (in fact, MM lost entrapment).
Reality is, just like many things in this game now, most players don't actually like playing BM. Most players dont like playing AGAINST BM. Hunter talents need to be reworked frankly. There are so many fucking trash pieces of garbage talents, like Murder of Crows, Posthaste, Dire Beast, glaive toss (come on its not a good level 90 talent), Barrage, binding shot, wyvern sting (bindin and wyvern arent terrible, just outshined by silencing shot SO hard). etc. The only talent I ever switch pre game is narrow escape and crouching tiger..
Hunters absolutely do NOT need any more CC, so I don't want that to be what they change. I would like a more dynamic talent setup as well though. Maybe make a talent that unbinds frost/freezing cooldowns? I've been asking this for ages. Or otherwise make snakes useful again? If they could nerf BM and put this as a talent that would work.
In general this game just has too many fucking outs, and too many instant CCs. Because of the quantity of instant CCs, the best classes are going to be the ones who can get out (or get there teammates out) consistently. Instant CC needs to be toned down.
Lastly, I would also support nerfing hunters instant cc in some way. Any thoughts?
TLDR, nerf BM, fix our useless ass talents, game sux.
I miss competitive 2's so badly... I know it was never really balanced, but the idea of being able to just pick up and play with one person made it so easy to coordinate. I'm getting kind of sick of 3's being the only meaningful pvp bracket.
1. Unite all the battlegroups to really help out queue times.
2. Make 2s, 3s, 5s each give more points like it used to.. Or at least make 5s do the rbg cap.. that would improve participation SOOO MUCH.
3. RealID arena teams.. Come on, its time.
4. Probably should allow multiple teams... e.g. starcraft system. I really see no reason why this couldn't be implemented, and make the game better.
After these types of things are fixed, then worry about class balance? Fixing class balance isn't going to help a dying game. The reason the pvp game is dying is because people are getting bored most likely. (At least I am getting bored of just doing 3s with one team at a time over and over...)
Great, now we arent overpowered, just viable playing the least fun spec in the game. The only joy I got from BM was 100-0ing people in intimidate stuns, and lawling about it. At least I can still punt people off the great wall of Pandafuck by the pvp vendors...
Im hitting like 17 mastery in my gear at 20/20 expertise and its pretty retarded, ive had 21k evisc crits without find weakness on players in full gear. Like if you have a high ping or enjoy hemo spec, mastery is def my preference. Whenmy legendaries proc with FW up im chaining 30k crits, and even without legendary procs since i already have 100% ambush crit chance, the mastery makes me do more Sdance damage than more crit would. Also SnD gives a huge atk speed boost with 17 mastery (56-57%) which shouldnt be forgotten either.
