#4278001 Resto stat priority for arenas

Posted hotcowz on 27 November 2014 - 09:20 PM

They changed how HOTs scale with haste, such that you get a linear benefit (e.g., no more breakpoints) to the increase in number of ticks (e.g., a ‘partial tick’ is always paid out in the end).

The current stat priority for pve:
Spirit (On accessories such as rings and necklaces only) > Haste (there are NO breakpoints) = Mastery > Multi-strike > Crit > Versatility

Obviously Versatility is a lot more useful in pvp. I don't know yet how much more useful than Haste and Mastery though, but I'd probably try and get it over Multistrike and Crit.

Looking good so far. Though resto shamans definitely need additional work. Innervate and Hymn removed, but mana tide staying? Psychic scream is up to 45 sec cd and replaces Psyfiend, but tremor cd reduction talent is unchanged? Also disc priests are getting hit harder than other healers with renew removed and PoM on hard cast.

#3980092 This game used to be so great

People got older, other things came up. If I were still a kid, I'm sure I'd be enjoying whatever expansion now.

#3963569 Your wishlist for 6.0 PvP

Posted hotcowz on 14 October 2013 - 02:15 AM

Only 3 weeks left till the next expansion is announced. What changes would you like to see in 6.0? You can focus on a single class / classes or just some common wishes.

My own wishlist:
- Reduce the bloat! This game now has way too many cd's and is going to have even more if Blizzard keeps doing what they've been doing. No need to have 5+ different defensives and 5+ offensives. The whole playstyle "Oh he popped his offensive cd, so I have to pop my defensive cd because I have so many of them" is boring.
- Revert to the old no-cd dispel system. You used to be able to tell if your healer is any decent by the speed of dispels. Now it's "Sorry, can't get you, it's on cd".
- Return skirmishes. Sometimes you just want to kill time without trying hard. Or maybe you want to practice your 1v2 skills.
- Make players think before they instantly cc you from range. Blizzard should already learn that none wants shadowfury>fear, old blood fear, feral clones, enhance hexes, chastise>fear, scatter>trap while whole team can't move etc. The best design for this problem is deep>poly where a mage has to sacrifice his major dps cd in order to have an opportunity to hard cast a poly without an LoS issue. If you want to instantly cc a healer and put him in position where he may eat a minute-long cc chain, pay an adequate price!

So what's your wishlist?

#3925643 WoW down to 7.7m, Vivendi finally sells

Posted hotcowz on 13 August 2013 - 06:57 AM

Yet another apocalyptic thread on the virtual game world scale. Doesn't everyone deep inside want the world (of warcraft) to end? Maybe it's because they must or want to leave and want everyone else to go with them?

@jaybuyers We wrote off 2s for a long time as impossible to balance. We're changing our minds though.

#3879880 Been 1year+ since I last played, how is game?

Posted hotcowz on 25 April 2013 - 01:24 AM

it's definitely more fun than cata, but nothing like tbc/wotlk offensive play.

#3860864 Gladius fix

Posted hotcowz on 13 March 2013 - 01:33 AM

Go to your interface folder in your WoW folder, open your Gladius folder, find a file named "Speclist.lua," open it with a word editor (notepad works), and delete the following line (it should be at the top):

[GetSpellInfo(56638)] = L["Arms"]. -- Taste For Blood

Restart the game and it should be working.

#3810515 S5 vs S12

Posted hotcowz on 25 November 2012 - 07:38 AM

Balance doesn't really matter. Not every class and spec is supposed to be viable. It's always been like this. In fact, comparing to previous seasons, current class balance is ok-ish. The real issue with this season (and I personally believe, expansion as a whole) is how boring it is due to bloated spellbook, enormous amount of instant cc and cooldowns, one-shot mechanics etc.

MoP is just basically Cata 2. Same boring playstyle, more (dumb) stuff. In Wotlk/TBC there was much more emphasis on positioning, situational awareness, and other individual skills. Remember that time when you could feel you were clearly outplaying someone? Now when was the last time you felt you were massively outplaying or getting outplayed and it mattered? Even though class balance in s5 was worse than now, it was by far more fun to play. Boring arena playstyle, plus being forced to do those horrible rbgs to stay competive is what makes this season (and probably whole expansion, just like Cata) less exciting than s5.

- Blood Fear now has 15 second cd (old: 10 second).
- Presence of Mind, Nature's Swiftness and Ancestral Swiftness now have 2 minute cooldown (old: 1 minute)
- Glyph of Gag Order removed.
- Void Shift is now for Disc and Holy only.

#3791904 Staff Vs MH+OH

Posted hotcowz on 17 October 2012 - 07:32 AM

oh right, forgot about offhand enchant

In that case, for t2 it's

342 spi & 16 int vs 165 int & 331 crit

which comes down to

210 spi vs 149 int & 199 crit (after reforging)

so mh+oh wins.

Once they fix bm and not every other team in the game is kfc, it should be fun.

#3712281 Has WoW had a negative or positive influence on your life?

Posted hotcowz on 09 June 2012 - 07:32 AM

Be happy that you at least didnt get hooked by an even shittier game. I realized that after playing Diablo for 2 weeks. That game is somewhat addictive too, but totally dumb, not social and puts huge strain on muscles. Must be not the only shitty addictive game out there, but if you are a lazy fuck who can't live without video games, WoW pvp is not the worst thing that could have happened.

And really the problem is not in WoW or any other video games. It's just your life is void and you can't simply remove shit from it and then start trying to fill the empty space with good stuff. Instead, you first must start doing good stuff and wow or any other shit that you hate doing will be suppressed. If you've already tried to "quit" before, you know what I'm talking about. You don't quit it, it quits you when you get busy with other things.
