Here's an explanation of the frostmage change, starting with Frostbolt:

  • Frost Specialization now only grants 2 base points of mastery (instead of 8), reducing all Frost damage to frozen targets by 15% from previous values. However, Frost Specialization now increases base Frostbolt damage by 15%.


So firstly it's a nerf of 6 mastery, which as said reduces all damage done to frozen targets by 15% (Which in my opinion is probably where they should've made a full stop).
However the damage of frostbolt is increased by 15%, rendering the damage frostbolt does to frozen targets at current values, and the damage frostbolt does outside of hitting frozen targets 15% higher than current values. As such frostbolt has recieved a slight buff

Secondly:
  • Fingers of Frost can no longer be dispelled and now also increases Ice Lance damage by 15%.


This means that when the mage has the Fingers of Frost proc (which treats the target as if it was frozen), icelance will hit 15% harder. However icelance will, in this case, also be affected by the mastery nerf and thus do 15% less damage as well leaving a Fingers of Frosted Icelance's damage as it is right now. However outside of fingers of frost icelance does not recieve any damage bonus and is only subject to the mastery nerf (in the case of being frozen, which is the only real time where I think Icelance is dangerous), which means that ANY non-Fingers of Frosted Icelance will be doing 15% less damage.

If anything this change encourages the casting of frostbolt, but is not a big buff nor nerf to frostmages in general.

Hope that sums it up..

Personally I think they should change the mastery stat-nerf of 6 to maybe 4 (10% nerf to dmg dealth to frozen targets) and leave it at that, with a possible buff to frostbolt. Icelance needs to be a filler on a shatter and nothing more.

Thanks for the vote of confidence :D  Definitely glad you got it working again.  If you're comfortable solving it without a reformat, more power to you - I'm way too paranoid though.  At least I don't recommend burning it with fire, heh.

Though, The Google is always more knowledgeable than I am, so I always consult it religiously.

I haven't played WoW in ages so I don't pay attention to any changes made to title requirements. If anything is incorrect send me a PM and I'll update, or feel free to take over/remake the thread.


*Gladiator can only be obtained from 3v3 and 5v5, no titles are rewarded for 2v2 (including Duelist, Rival, Challenger)
*All of the following requirements are the same for Duelist, Challenger, Rival. Only the cutoff ratings are different.

REQUIREMENTS TO OBTAIN GLADIATOR TITLE AND REWARDS AT THE END OF A SEASON:

1)Your team needs to be within the top .5% of your battlegroup.
2)You need to be within 100 personal rating of the team rating (doesnt apply if your personal rating is above team rating.).
3)You have to have played 20% of the total games played by the team for the season.

COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS:
1)My team will be "inactive" if I don't play during the last few weeks.
2)There needs to be two people in the team that meet the requirements.
3)Your account needs to be active when titles/rewards are handed out.

AN INACTIVE TEAM IS:
1)A team with no players in it
2)A team with nobody that meets the Personal Rating requirements (within 100 PR of the TR).
3)A team which does not have more then 20 games played for the season.
4)A team which has no members who have played 20% of the total games played during the season.

*Inactive teams do not count towards the total number of teams when calculating the cutoff for gladiator.
*Your in game team ranking is your actual ranking. It does not include inactive teams that are higher rated then you.

Read that before telling ppl to "read", where do you see the CC part? The CC part is at the end and has nothing to do with the part I quoted.
The part you quoted is something everyone on this forum has been asking for since as long as I remember. Healing power needs to be lower and health needs to be higher so players don't just bounce from 100% health to 10% to 100% all the time. There has to be an in-between, like everyone on AJ has said since WOTLK came out.

And the CC part is important because it clarifies what he's talking about. He has always said that it should be possible to kill a healer or a healer's partner without the healer being out of mana. Just like players could set kills up in TBC with clever CC and switches, it should be able to do that today.

Nowhere in his post did he even come close to saying that a player should be able to gib another. In fact, he said the direct opposite - he admitted that health needs to be higher, which is happening in Cataclysm.

Furthermore, he repeats that same point all throughout the thread, so if you didn't get the first time, it should be pretty undeniable after reading his follow-up posts.

For the record, do the people here know what context is? It's where someone starts a post with an argument and then clarifies what the argument means. It puts the argument in context.

That is exactly what GC did in his post. He wrote that last part to clarify the first part. He didn't just write all of that so you could take one sentence you dislike and go crazy about it.

Stop acting like idiots. If anything is going to make the developers pay less attention to us, it's acting like a dumb, uneducated mob.

Okay - so, per Aimlessgun's suggestion, I created a resilience detecting addon last night.  It is in very early development - but I decided to release it to ArenaJunkies nonetheless.  Posting it in it's own thread (though in the arena tournament forums, as this was where I first saw the suggestion) to give it more attention - may have it posted more prominently elsewhere on the wbesite soon.
