PvP Talents

Those are talents that I use as default in arena. Talents and Glyphs should be changed every arena match depending on what composition you're playing, what you're up against, and what strategy you and your opponent might execute.

Level 15:
Rolling blood for unholy Plague leech / Unholy blight for frost

Unholy : Rolling blood for unholy for more aoe dmg .

Frost : Plague leech if you play with aspxyxiate or death advance, Unholy blight if you play with chillblains

Level 30
Lichborne for both specs is only viable option as it provides fear break ,polymorph/sleep immunity as well as good self heals because you can use deathcoils to heal yourself while lichborne is active

purgeatory tend to bug in pvp like guardian spirit did in 5.0-5.4 so this is not viable option and anti-magic zone is reduced to 3 seconds duration for 40% spell reduction so lichborne is always better

Level 45
Aspxyxiate is recommended for most cases for both specs. If you play with rogue or warrior or any comp in which you got plenty of short cd stuns provided by your teammates you can go for chillblains or death advance

Level 60

Unholy :
Conversion - Usable while silenced conversion provides 3-6% heal per second (its possible to spam conversion without calceling conversion aura doubling the effect for double the cost check macros below ) and its far superior to death pact and death siphon..Dk 4 piece bonus also interacts here giving you 3 runic power every second for 5 seconds while you are slowed which is usually all the time making conversion costing 2rp per sec!
However against comps that have low sustained dmg but high burst I recomend Death pact over conversion

Frost :

Death pact - conversion is not an option if you play frost because runic power has much greater value then it does for unholy dk. Spamming your conversion while you are trained will totally shut down your offense resulting in much less dmg output.

Level 75
Blood tap - why blood tap, answer is simple no rng. Other 2 talents are rng and sometimes you can do 5-6 deathcoils or frost strikes and they wont proc

Level 90
Desecrated ground - Extra pvp trinket and best option in this tier

Gorefiend has usage in 5v5 and rbgs but for 2v2 and 3v3 its just not good enough as you can already grip 2 targets in ring of frost without using it.

Remorseless winter is a pve ability and it has no use in arena games but
you can sometimes pick chillblains + remorseless winter as 5.4 strangulate is no longer on global cooldown so using strangulate+remorseless at same time on a shaman , priest or paladin healer will guarantee that rw stun will go off as they cant dispell/freedom stacks while they are silenced. Yet again if those healers are paired with enhancemet shaman , hunter , ww monk , or ret they can freedom their healers every time you silence+rw them making your RW useless.

Glyphs

Prime Glyphs:

Frost :

Shifting presences - mandatory
Dark simulacrum - mandatory unless you meet mw/war/hunter for example
Icy touch - Frost dks can purge alot this glyph is mandatory
Regenerative magic - i swap it sometimes with ds glyph against kfc

Unholy :

Dark simulacrum - mandatory unless you meet mw/war/hunter for example
Shifting presences - optional
Icy touch - optional , unholy dks can not purge much but sometimes you can get that bop off in 1-2 purges
Pestilence - Paired with chillblains its easier to slow opponets down and its easier to keep your dots up on multiple targets
Enduring infection - against double disease dispel teams such as priest/monk/x

Minor glyph :

-Glyph of death embrace - refunds 20 runic if you succesfully heal your pet

Gems / Enchants / Stats
General Priorities for Stats :

Unholy :
3% Hit>3% Expertise>Crit>mastery>haste

Most of dks go for pure crit gemming and reforging. Why is this so? In 5.4 they changed Unholy Presence to grant a flat 20% Haste to all things, up from Haste for melee (attack speed and Rune regeneration) only.Gemming haste or reforging it is total overkill if you dance your presences

If you plan to sit in blood presence and never go out of it anytime haste reforging and full str gems work just fine

Frost :
3%hit/3% expertise > Haste > mastery > crit

Frost dks gem haste because with full 550 gear you can make your rune regen under 8 seconds. Why is this so important?
This means that you can actually sit in blood presence while trained and still do descent dmg output on single target.


Recommended Gems:

Unholy :
Meta - 216 Strength / +3% Crit Damage or Tyrannical Meta Gem (Have both Helms ready, Strength meta still does more damage / burst while Tyrannical Meta Gem is better for surviving)
Red -  80 str / 160 crit
Yellow -  320 crit
Blue - 160 crit /  80 PvP Power

Frost :
Meta - 216 Strength / +3% Crit Damage or Tyrannical Meta Gem (Have both Helms ready, Strength meta still does more damage / burst while Tyrannical Meta Gem is better for surviving)

Viable DK Comps
Dks are in pretty bad shape in mop but you can still reach high ratings.
I recomed dk/ele/druid , tsg or phd for unholy and dk/rogue/healer for frost.

Professions
Doesn't really matter. Use any professions that give strength or attack power gains. Blacksmithing is really good since it can give you crit/haste if you choose to do so. Jewelcrafting also can give you crit/haste, these professions give you choices on what you want to do.

What rotation do you use in PvP?
There is no "specific" rotation in PvP.

Playing unholy dk you want to get some attack power procs first such as Unholy strenght, pvp proc trinket or on use trinket or all 3 at same time then spread powerfull diseases on as much targets possible and pop your gargoyle.
If you want to do a hard swap you should have dotted that target first have saved atleast 10 blood charges and 3-4 death runes then aspxyxiate enemy healer and do 5-6 necrotics +gnaw on target
If your partner is free to dps at this point and your team has follow-up cc  you are already forcing major defensives or pvp trinket

Frost is easy to understand if you are in blood presence keep 2 dots up on a target fish a km proc then obliterate. If you are free to be in frost presence don't fish anything just put 2 dots on do rotation with this prio:


KM proc obliterate > necrotic strike > frost strike > obliterate

Addons:

I recomend getting magic runes but you can use this script if you dislike addons

Instead of making a new post ill just elaborate abit on topic that i made like 4 months ago regarding concerns and suggestions i had for wod. You will notice alot of things I mentioned here are already implemented.

1 . casters should cast again , instant casts should be rare
- they said it will be fixed in wod

2. castable CC spells should not be affected by haste or cast slow debuffs

- we are speaking about 15+% difference between starting and last season in xpac. Latency etc also has great impact here not everyone can play on 10ms. Way it is now it just promotes people to use interupt bots etc since 0.5 sec cast clones are impossible to kick with 50 latency. Kicking should be a mind game not way it is now either you prekick or you get a clone in your face with a kick on cd

Im pretty sure every caster can get 30% passive haste from gems and gear on end of xpac. Why should a fear poly or clone be 30% easier to get off on end of xpac then it is on start of it?

3. cast slow debuffs should be reduced to 10% in pvp or removed from game
- this went through already on live

4. all crits should be reduced to 150% of normal dmg in pvp
- they also implemented this in wod

5. Offensive cd stacking should no longer exist because all specs shoul have 1 offensive cd on 1-3 mins

We all seen how bad cd stacking was in mop. Doubt anyone will disagree on this one



6. Removed should remove blankets

- Already done for mop

7. Fear and poly should share same dr

-Some people would disagree on this one but way it is now its impossible to keep a fluent game with 8sec dispell. They can either put those spammable cc on same dr or add CD on them which is more likely.Either way i think this is going to be fixed somehow

8. Armor penetration should be removed from pvp or greatly nerfed

Example : sub dmg is really bad with no restealths and insanly good with openers. If openers can be countered rogue dps is laughable. This just provides frustration both for rogues and their enemies. If arpen is up to stay in pvp it should be no more then 30% for any class that use it. Compensate dmg elsewhere


9. Melle specials should no longer do 400% more then autoattacks do

-400% + dmg obliterate for example? You cant predict when its going to happen twice or 3 times in a row resulting in a 3 gcd death


10. Necrotic strike healing debuff should be based on weapon dmg not ap procs

I had said this million times so far. NS should no longer be based on attack power because it scales much better for unholy then for frost.Also with abusing of tailoring+orc racial+engineer gloves + trinket on proc it could skyrocket in s12 for example more then doubling the absorb of a normal ns.


11. frost strike , envenom , chimera shot and all hunters/melle dmg abilities that do non-physical dmg shold get scourge strike treatment

-Armor should matter in pvp. Nowdays it doesnt mean anything because of how those attacks i mentioned work.

12. mages,locks got some additional dmg reduction from ranged physical attacks

- I dont belive there is anyone here that thinks that hunters dmg on mages is fine.

13. They should reduced number of stuns each class have (example : shockwave and stormbolt in same tier)

-already done

14. They should reduce number of defensive cds for dps specs

-With removal of cd stacking defensive cds should chill as well. There is no reasoning behind resto druids have 8 major defensive cds they can rotate infinately. That is just an example


15. They should reduced healing of hybrid classes can do and they actually got some utility spells instead

Healing on hybrids is really bad thing. Either its too strong and promotes turtling or its too weak making those specs broken and weak.
Giving them more utility spells and limiting heals to minimum is a fair tradeoff i belive.
Example if a ret pally can do 1 instant flash every 30 seconds but that heal is like 20-30% of someone's hp thats ok.But then give them something else. Hand spells can actually harm instead of help etc.
I think that they can do this and keep niche of a certain spec but limmit it to couple 20-30 sec offheals. Please do not get me wrong! Im not saying that every hybrid spec should be the same or every ret should become arms war with 1 heal they can use every 30 sec on teammates.Im just saying that defensive healing hybrid with burst was proven to be bad. Its either op or really really weak.

16.They should reduced number of instant cc spells or put them on a very long cd.

They already making this happen

17.They should reduced frequency of instant heals , smartheals and their efficiency in pvp

This is also being done as i read.

18.They should reduce almost all self-freedom or snare removing mechanics undispelable snares should matter way more in pvp (chains of ice,hamstring,piercing howl,concussive shot)

This is crucial part. With dispell being 8 sec cd roots and magic slows are almost impossible to dispell.Magic slow should never be stronger then a non magic one. IT use to be that since day 1 of world of warcraft. Now magic slows are much better due to dispell change
Undispelable snares should matter way more then they are now.

19. They have to reduce number of all mini trinkets in game

CC is taking a big hit. Breaks have to do it as well.There is no need to have multiple trinkets if cc is reduced they way it is going to be


20. They should remove all double gap closer/excape spells

If they fix mobility and undispellable snares there is no reasoning to have multiple gapclosing or gapmaking spells. Melee will have uptime with only 1 gap closer and casters can kite with just 1 gap maker.


21. Agility and str should no longer provide parry/dodge for non tank specs. ****

This is crucial as well. Not a single melee is having fun hitting someone that has 20-50% passive parry or dodge on end of xpac.Its too much rng and with expertise being removed i dont see reasoning for this to stay. Mitigation is tank thing not dps thing. Evasion and other things are cds. Those should matter but passive mitigation should take a hit


22. Getting polyd with pummel on cd and spellreflect should not happen anymore
This is lattency issue but with longer casts and haste not affecting cc spells it should happen very very rare.

23. shapeshifts should no longer remove snare effects and provide  immunity against polymorph effects, resto druids can rootbreak but not snarebreak

Once again snares should be more important in pvp.Giving someone 30 sec minifreedom is ok even to every healer spec but total immunity or no cd removal of snares is just bad game mechanic in my oppinion.


24. Hunters cc is completly reworked they cant keep healer in cc 50% of arena game anymore

This is already being done but Im not quite happy how it looks for now as well

25. Tremor totem - See removal of minitrinkets tremor is one of them that needs to go or have a 3+ min cd

Ill also add a lis of spells and abilities that in my oppinion need a overhaul

-dematerialize
If they need some sort of stun protection they can give 10-30% reduced dmg in stuns.Or shorter stuns or anything. Compensate on any possible way but total 2.5 sec immunity on 10 sec cd is just too much. This means you cant put a hamstring after charge etc.

-void tendrils not having a dmg treshold is really bad , If they want to make them undispellable but killable its fine but not having dmg treshold is just bad

-psyfiend is another one which should take a hit. Either its too op or just too bad like now anyone can 1 shot it by just an autoattack or whatever

-feathers and body and soul should be reworked .Too easy to get fears

-spectral guise should have much longer cd but they should compensate and make it a 2 min oh shit button for a priest.Means removes slows dots etc and you vanish for 6 sec reposition even get a winning fear with it but if you use it bad you will be penalised

-symbiosis should be banned from arena

-sotf should no longer increases cast time of cc spells , already explained this before

-heart of the wild should have 15 sec duration or no longer work in arena

-ring of frost should have a longer cd and they can compensate on it making it bigger or even changing its radius every sec meaning you can easier get people or use it to reposition teams

-frozen orb generating procs should be looked at

-demonic gate should get nerfed even more or removed completly from arena

-subterfuge is already fixed for wod no remarks on it

-disorienting roar should be looked at

-double time should be looked at they alredy stated that warbringer will be mandatory

-msr should replace sr - think this is already done

-disrupting shout should replace pummel - think this one is already done as well

-safeguard should no longer break roots - alot of cc breaks should go this is one of them

-monk glove bonus should be removed - snares should matter

-double grip bonus should be removed- Retarded mechanic i doubt anyone will disagree on this one

-sparring and glyph of sparring should be removed- Rng and it provides frustrations for both monks and melle hitting them

-tigereye brew  should be looked at

-stampede , wild imps and forest of totems should no longer be usable in arena and you can actually see something around you once they are up

This is just a annoying mechanic. Makes you lag and you cant see clearly whats happening with 10 pets on you.They also do 25% dmg in arenas why allow them anyways then?

-double freedom,sac,bop should go as well - see too much defensive cds

I'm sure everyone has seen how much trolling and general douchebaggery have infected AJ.  I'd like it to stop.

Trolling and assholery puts AJ on a downward spiral.  People troll/asshole-it-up, which leads to less people using this as a forum for serious/reasonable discussion, which leads to more trolling, etc.  AJ always was and continues to be the most popular place for new players to get into the PvP scene.  Any community relies on new members to sustain itself--by making this place a wasteland we are doing nothing but ensuring our own demise.

Before you post a reply or topic, ask yourself: am I being an asshole?  If you are, change your post to take a more educational tone.  If you're feeling heated about something, take some time to cool off before replying.  Don't immediately assume someone is trolling you, some people are just not very knowledgeable.  Worst case, if you reply in a calm educational manner, you've posted something informative for the hundreds or thousands of lurkers who will view your reply.  These are generally newer PvPers, and anything you do to help sustain them as arena players helps all of us.

On any set of forums, it's easy to forget that almost all of the people reading it are lurkers, who will never make any posts.  Lurkers cannot be trolls, they can't be assholes, they are just here to learn or read interesting things.  Post interesting, informative content.  Post drama if you want, but don't be an asshole.  Fuck the trolls, post for the lurkers.

This of course is everyone's favorite paladin, Rambojohny. It all starts as most arena stories do, with a bit of win trading. Rambo, ever thirsty for that elusive Rank 1 title, decided to trade with "FUN TIME JENNA" a game a piece to land on a rank 1 tie with "boys are back in town."

However, Rambo and this team have a volatile relationship, so he sent an envoy to speak on his behalf. Ryanz extended the Tyrannical Gladiators Olive Branch to Fadezz, only to be completely ignored:

Diplomacy isn't always the answer, so this of course meant war. Another round of wintrading was scheduled to go down, but this time the wool was pulled over our hero Rambo's eyes and he was left high and dry. A 1-1 wintrade turned into a 1-0 DDOS and dip, leaving him down 8 points and without a paddle. "Not this time" whispered Rambo, quivering with rage. Desperate times often call for desperate measures, and it was time for Johny to talk not with his gaming, but with his wallet.

Deplorable. Despicable. Just downright dirty. The Department of Justice are supposed to be pillars of Honor and Integrity. Rambo being among this elite cadre, even if only in a Janitorial capacity, should be absolutely ashamed of himself. But our big spender doesn't stop there. He approached Poppychulo, inquiring about DDOS or hacked team disband services for $1000. Reedz was asked to wintrade, despite being on a non linked BG (smooth Rambo). And of course there was the money proposal to seestraightz that backfired as previously mentioned.

Obviously this is nothing new to RamboJohny, but its always nice to see the proof and the stories. So please gentleman, do your part in assuring that Rambo receives proper punishment. Cheating never wins.
