Is that a joke? Roughly 6-8% dmg decrease (assuming no armor pen ability like colossus smash or find weakness) which doesn't even affect spells, bleeds or 90% of DK damage is the compensation for losing the 15% damage reduction on shadow form? Surely there are more changes incoming, because if that's the only defensive change coming to shadow priests, then you'll never see a shadow priest in arena again.

Armor in general has been a joke since cata because pretty much every physical damage class either has armor penetration abilities or has 50% of the damage with spells/bleeds anyway.

There are a ton of problems with the banning format, but I'm excited to hear about a tournament regardless.

If one team bans a spec does that mean it's banned for both teams?  That'd mean 6 specs could be banned altogether if you do it after each pick.

Also would really make classes with only one viable spec pretty trash.  For example banning Arms Warrior means you're going to see no Warrior at all, since they won't go prot or fury really.  Ban UH DK and they're pretty much gone as Frost doesn't really exist at high levels neither does Blood.  Etc etc.

I think like people said it's cool in games with tons and tons of heroes where a player just learns one general playstyle IE jungle, carry, support etc etc and then selects from a multitude of heroes within that play style but it's more tricky when you're in a game without so many.

I think each team banning a map makes great sense as there are very imbalanced maps, but I worry that you might just end up with a lower level of play with the tournament with people banning out specs and whatnot that players are famous for.  How many people really want to tune in to see Venruki login a BM hunter after Frost gets banned out, or to see Another on a Feral druid because UH DK got banned out etc.  You'll just end up with players who're worse on the classes and games less people care to see, but perhaps I'm wrong!

Anyway, cool idea and would love to be involved - also awesome prize pool!  Not trying to be a downer just trying to make sure everything is thought through for one of the few high profile tournaments we have these days!

They said they're compensating by buffing resilience. And as far as I know, resilience affects all classes, not just those classes. So no matter how you see it, those classes are still nerfed by the 15% dmg reduction being gone.

Even if you do have a dispeller in your team, dispelling against a shattree for example is almost impossible. Every time I try to dispel fear ward (an example), it's just so RNG I've had times where it's taken me roughly 10 dispels due to lifeblooms, shields etc

I don't consider this a nerf at all. They should just keep the duration the same alongside the 15% dmg nerf. Nobody uses that talent in PvE anyway, so it wouldn't affect PvE at all. I don't understand why they have to compensate mages for a dmg nerf that they obviously need. It's not even the worst thing about mages right now, their burst altogether even without incanters is retarded.

You can take subterfuge, cheapshot glyph, garrote glyph, and increase the energy cost of ambush during dance, and even remove shuriken toss. But please, please, give rogues a way to live a single stun. I cannot count the number of times I've feinted or pre walled(and partially stacked) a stun and died 100-0 in a blanket on my healer. What rogues need is less burst, more sustain and more survivability.

Yeah, I also remember Cataclysm Blizzcon that the Asian PHD won. The paladin saving cooldowns and bubble even in the most ridiculous situations vs MLS.

After reading other people's comments and from my own experience, nerfing life swap and MD is completely justifed in a world where teams such as thugcleave dont exist, it will definetly make the game more enjoyable for mages and warlocks as well as putting spriest to par with the other casters. MD should never even be used if a team is playing how they are supposed to, MD shouldnt be a tool for your healer who happens to space out and get sheep'd. So a 1.5 sec MD is completely justifed in this situation. As for lifeswap, the spell is just completely unnecessary in the game, no one should have a jail free card in the game that takes basically take no skill to use. Alot of people are aruging that healers cant live without lifeswap, well thats just bad design of the game in general which has nothing to do with spriests balance.

But the problem I see that most people are debating about is hunters or huntercleaves in general. Even with the current 0.5sec MD and lifeswap any half decent thugcleave should not have problem stopping the MD as well as having more than enough cds to blow through lifeswap. But this is a separate issue in itself. If the thugcleave plays perfectly, they should never lose anyways so it really has nothing to with lifeswap and MD, the issue lies with hunter and rogues vs casters in general.There's going to be more changes guaranteed, so just stayed tunned.
