I play Warrior/Lock/Pally at 2400-2600mmr between my main and alts. It is frustrating i'll admit though because I feel like I'd have more success if I was a Rdruid. For the last three seasons, hpaladins have been like so lacking on healing that I had to reroll just to remain competitive. It looks like I may have to reroll Rdruid if I wanna keep playing competitive. Hpaladins right now require the most casting just to heal. Resto Druids can Rejuv->Rejuv->Swiftmend/Genesis all day to do maximized HPS while Hpaladins actually have to cast which make us more controllable after CC. So vs teams like Hunter/Spriest or Warlock or Godcomp, even with my Warlock playing imp dispel I get controlled so easily, it's frustrating. Although every healer can be controlled just as easily EXCEPT for Rdruids because they can play by a rule where they never have to cast any heals and still do maximized HPS through instants. This is what makes Lock/Druid/X so strong right now tho. If they just added a cast time to Genesis it would make all the better. Being a Rdruid allows you to completely avoid interrupts lowers the skill cap of the class so much that I am pretty excited to play my Rdruid soon.
Also did anyone notice that last season Holinka talked about making healers have to cast their heals? Rdruids only got a cast time on Wild Growth, Priest cast PoM, Shaman's healing stream got cut in half, and idk about monks but Hpals got a cast time on WoG which affects our single target healing the most while others got nerfs to AoE healing. And right now almost every Hpal plays Sanctified Wrath because the other two talents suck in comparison. I think a good solution to buff our heals outside of wings is to make WoG instant again. If you think about it, this allows us to pool holy power for emergency situations but it won't let us have as much as we did in MoP. We could cast flash heals behind pillars to pool up holy power for coming out of CC before but now, we can't do that anymore with pvp gear changes. I think, having WoG instant will allow us to spec into divine purpose which ultimately reduces our Wings healing and buffs our healing outside wings. Just having that 1 or 2 WoG instant casts out of CC can help us in being controlled.
Another possible solution besides buffing WoG to be instant is to buff saved by the light. Although I do remember seeing a blue post saying that this talent needs a buff to be more competitive with Beacon of Faith in PvE (almost every hpals plays beacon of faith in PvE). Whenever a target falls into Saved by the Light range, half the time they're dead anyway because they get into execute range for hunters, spriest, and rets. The shield literally disappears like a second later sometimes. I think making Saved by the Light talent also increase our healing done to our beacon targets by an additional 10-15% could be nice too.
In terms of hpally comps though, I think anything with a hpally can works because we do fairly well vs cleaves. But as people get more gear, there will be less cleaves and more caster cleaves. There has been more godcomps and caster cleaves at higher rating these days which will hurt hpal representation in the ladder unless we get a small fix. Right now Hpals are still doing well in like junglecleave or melee cleaves because theres still more cleaves than casters. But when casters get enough gear, it may be late MoP all over again. I personally like playing with a warlock for the spell power buff and healthstone tho. It makes being trained a lot more bearable. That and making our denounce glyph buff 2 stacks instead of 3 and undispellable would be nice too. I geared myself around multi-strike because I always denounce people before casting heals for more hps. But I've had some good teams just purge my denounce buffs so I can't even get crit anymore
