#3700734 GW2 esport viability

The gaming community has really fallen down the drain. I have only played Guild Wars 2 for several hours (my friend let me log in, since my account was fucked), and yes, I have seen that the movement is different, but that is need bad, not bad at all. It is done for the sake of the game, and it fits perfectly for the game.

Basically, the main problem with everyone is setting WoW as a prime example and expanding from there, if something is not as it is in WoW, it is really bad and it "does not feel right". Remember, WoW is TOO noob-friendly, so noob-friendly that I get annoyed by it.

I come from the dawn of Everquest 1 and Dark Age of Camelot, I have challenged all players who played WoW as their first MMORPG to try and play DAoC, they went bananas at the movement system and how come there aren't 6 million spells to be used, and many other things. But, the movement system in DAoC fits the game perfectly, so it does in Guild Wars 2. Same goes for combat and all, you just can't stick to your opponent and bashing keys to make you win anymore.

I've played a variety of MMORPGs and was very successful at some, I have to say, WoW was the MMORPG that had the most potential to become a "perfect" MMORPG game, but they failed with it and are continuing to fail with it. Slow patches, major class imbalance, distinguishing PvE and PvP gear then merging them all into PvP, it is just bad, paired with other things as well.

That post is poorly written and doesn't make any good points.

A few examples:

- keybinds are terrible. fix them. the spell system with the current keybinds are clunky and lack fluidity. remove cooldowns of swapping between dif wep spells so we can be more “clutch”

- bg style gaming never stressed the importance of real real hardcore talent and is far less punishing then a format where you get one death. you must have a hardcore mode for hardcore players and esports

LoL doesn't have hardcore competition? Yes it does.

- nothing is important, spells are rather weak and most of the spells are glorified damage dealing spells with secondary cc effects taged on. they often are just the same spell with a dif name

This is just flat out wrong and ignorance on the writer's part. http://wiki.guildwar...om/wiki/Effects

Overall impression on the post: Dumb or troll. However more likely: Dumb, or dumb and troll. Definitely dumb.

Reason dictates GW2's validity as an esport will be proven/disproven when there is real competition and not by the ramblings of someone who feels WoW is a quality esport.
