#4202122 Wounded state in WoD

Posted Lolflay on 05 September 2014 - 10:33 AM

The state they want to achieve with healing is directly tied to the problem melee classes face - they're either too shit, or too powerful.

MS effect being 50% was probably the best thing this game had. It forced people into certain comps, and precisely because of this mechanic, TBC saw the most balanced comps, and precisely because of this mechanic, no matter how much casters outscaled melee calsses, melees were still necessary and were balanced around this thing. You needed two things to be successful in arena before - you needed CC and you needed MS, everything else was up to you.

Rogues and Warriors brought MS, and later on Hunters. Warriors for example have mongoloid damage and control right now precisely because they bring NOTHING to the table but damage. Viable classes being decided around who has the most damage and control is something that Blizzard should NOT strive for, and it'd automatically kill comps like LSD.

If I was in place of WoD devs, these things are what I would do to make the game bearable again :

- bump MS effects to 40%

- warriors, rogues, unholy death knights, hunters, feral druids now apply mortal strike mechanic

- warriors would bring mobility and MS, and they'd lose this retarded control they have right now.

- rogues would bring control and MS, and they'd lose burst of speed ( buff Shadowstep to 20 second cooldown and make it usable while rooted though, to not keep them entirely as sitting ducks in a game where snares/roots are still in abundance, it's so fucking hilarious how all those snares/roots survived the ability purge :D :D :D )  .

- retris would bring offheals, utility, and they can keep their interrupt.

- enhancements would bring utility, burst, keep interrupt.

- ferals would bring mobility, control, MS, lose interrupt.

- hunters would bring control, MS, keep interrupt, keep traps, do a bit lower damage due to all the control potential they have ( because right now, hunters have insane control but also insane damage, CCing hunters partner during hunters own CC should be a viable strat to push the pressure down )

- ww monks would bring burst AND sustained damage, keep interrupt and mobility, lose the unnecessary control they have.

- I'd keep Arms the only viable spec for warriors to DPS with, but for Rogues and Hunters ( pure DPS melee classes ), I'd give them a choice - probably make Assassination the sustained damage spec, while Sub would be the control spec, do the same for 2 Hunter specs.

- remove infinite mana on casters

- I'd honestly give halved MS effect to two or three casters. Mages and Shadowpriests perhaps ? To keep wizardcleaves viable, mostly, because all wizardcleaves either have a Warlock ( and let's be real, with their spread damage, locks and their wizcleave comp really don't need MS effect ), or a Mage/Shadowpriest, in which case you'd need a MS to make the damage *stick* in a game where healing without MS is easy, but with MS applied is hard.

- with the removal of infinite mana on casters, healer mana matters again - aka, comp matters again

- with reintroduced importance of MS effect, it reintroduces an element of balanced play ( aka, you don't play offensive OR defensive, you utilize both playstyles, because you really want to make the MS effect drop as much as possible in effort to outmana the enemy healer )

- there's more, but I know community and devs don't really give a shit so I'll stop here

This game could be glorious again, if only they wanted to add depth to it again. Shame they don't.

Any post involving DDoS gets deleted within hours, and why?

DDoS is as much as an issue as not knowing how to beat certain comps,

Knowing who to avoid in the PvP community is just as valuable as knowing who to kill in arena matches.

So what is the reasoning behind the deleted posts?

Anyone who thinks the game is actually better now than it used to be in its prime (wotlk) is either mentally challenged, didnt play the game back then, or you were shit and finally after 6 years u learned the game, and therefore think its better now.

Yes, there were some op shit back then, just like its been every season, just like it is in every game. Difference is that u had to put a lot more effort into the game to suceed.

Healers had to cast, every single healer roll had their own "thing". Pick a priest if you wanted an offensive comp e. g rmp, pick a shaman if you want something a bit more passive but with a strong all in for example rps. Pick a paladin for strong all-in cds and mobility (meleecleaves). Druids, overall very strong in most comps (talking about s7-8 not s5 :D). Now you simply pick a shaman or resto druid, or you will be at a disadvantage from the very start.

Back then all classes didnt have cc, and most importantly, there were very few instant cc abilities. Now every single class has a lot of cc and its mostly instant casts. But the biggest difference is that, while there werent that much cc in the game, when you actually hit a cc chain, you could get a kill. Now someone can sit ccd for 15 sec, come out and top someone off in a single global, and these globals are all instant casts, before you could come out of a 15 sec cc chain, still struggeling to keep ur allies up, maybe you had to fakecast in order to heal ur team back up, yes, you actually had to be decent at fakecasting, cus pretty much all ur heals were casts, except for resto druids. Oh and btw, now every single fucking healer in the game has aura mastery (not like its needed though, but still retarded).

Same goes for dps classes about the instant cast part, mages dont cast, warlocks dont cast, boomkins doesnt cast, does any CASTER dps actually cast? Ele shammys i guess. Now the best mage is the one that casts the leasts, if ure casting, ure doing something wrong. Yes it was frustrating playing a mage while getin trained, but that was also what sorted the good mages from the bad ones, they made it work, even while getin trained. Oh, and yes. Mages had to kite. Now mages are just as tanky as any other class in the game, well, almost. All mages do the same, they pop their shit and do a lot of damage without casting a spell, what differs the very best from the other high rated is only their timing of when they pop their shit.

tl;dr in wotlk all healers had their specifik role, and they were best at that role. Healers had to cast. Dps classes had to cast. The gap between good and GOOD mages (other classes as well) was huge.

yes, im mad.

Forgot the biggest issue of them all. Every class has like 5 defensive abilities each to go through, its simply to many and extremely frustrating at times.

dat feel when you come back to the game and pay 60 dollars to level up an enhancement shaman, queue up a game of 2v2, get killed in less than a global by a warrior and hunter only to have them whisper:

"get shit on ddosing faggot"

because a dude who literally named himself after you has somehow surpassed your legend

#3869386 Tournament announced and Junkie status change!

1.) Arena Junkies Pet Battle Invitationals

Pet Battles are PvP! Pet battles will now be featured by ArenaJunkies and  we are looking for guides, videos and the AJ Pet Battle Invitational will soon be hosted. Our marketing team determined that there is much larger viewer base available for pet battles than for arena battles. Based on this we also decided to have a 18000$ price pool for the first tournament. The rules will be double elimination and we will have qualifiers on selected US & EU PvP realms. You will have to choose a comp of three pets prior to the tournament and are not allowed to change them. We got the confirmation that Brian Holinka himself will be co-commentating the final round. Lovely to see such a support by Blizzard!

2.) Junkie status change

In the past many players bought Junkie access over boosts and similar shady things. We decided it is not determinable by us who might or might not be a real junkies. So we decided to replace the Junkie requirement with the Brutally Dedicated achievement and give access to everyone with that achievement. We think 300 won arena matches prove someone knows what he is talking about and can be a viable member of this site.

Note: This feature will be implemented soon along with an update of the forum software.

3.) Female gamer support

We noticed that comments about female streamers were often not as respectful as they could have been. We decided to counter this by featuring streams of female gamers more prominently in the future. We also consider doing "Girl of the month" vote on female streamers in the tradition of World of Ming. If you want your stream featured please send Hildegard a private message and add some screenshots of your stream.

4.) Suggestions needed!

We are sill looking for your suggestions to make ArenaJunkies better. Just reply to this thread and let us know what you think about the latest changes
