1st i think you are lifetime duelist bad. That being said there is no excuse to keep broken abilities like BOS/Feathers and justifying it by other classes have broken stuff as well. Yes exotic frostshots are more broken then bos, but yet again that talent is there just because of bos and feral shapeshifting (which is even more broken then bos). Remove all 3 problem solved.

1.) Bad-mouthing doesn't make your arguments any better.
2.) In the text you quoted I justified nothing. I talked about the fundamental approach to pvp design.
3.) Removing or nerfing (or buffing) some abilities changes the power of certain classes but does not solve the overall problem. It just shifts which specs/classes are too good, which are average and which are bad.
4.) In order to achieve balance you need an approach that can deal with so many specs in pvp and keep them balanced but diverse. Simply buffing or nerfing some abilities doesn't achieve that.

The problem is probably that there is no organisation out there that could run smooth WoW tournaments currently. In my opinion organizations like ESL (that can run awesome tournaments) need more guidelines, like hiring experienced tournament organisators, set up rules early enough, have clear ways of communication as well as documentation of the games.

Just from a business side WoW does not look too interesting to host tournaments, especially as people are used to tournaments standards like SC2 has them. The money needed to make that work is a lot higher than the expected revenue.

With the new spectator mode it might be possible to do that but something like Hearthstone is just so much easier to set up and get decent viewer numbers with. It would take a massive effort and a big budget to make WoW tournaments work. The biggest factor in that is the community, there is very little hype around WoW tournaments. I spend my fair amount of time trying but after checking the numbers it would be so heavily dependant on external sponsorship that any organizer would have to do everything the sponsors ask for to pay the bills.

If Blizzard wants to create a tournament scene they need to invest heavily into organizations to build it up. Without financial backing I doubt there is a way to make it work.

I hope you get hit by a truck.

As for topic itself, while I personally adore the idea of a Shadowstep tier, I'd personally give Burst of Speed a sort of Vayne's passive. When you're 10 yards away from someone, it costs 20 energy. When you're 15 yards away, 30 energy; 20 yards, 60 energy; 30 yards, 80 energy; 40 yards, 100 energy.

It'd also be usable only while targetting someone who you've dealt damage to in past 20 seconds. As for crying about "how the fuck are we going to open then", use Sprint. I play a Rogue myself, I've completely removed Sprint from my bars, it'd give Sprint a reason to stay on your bars.

That idea is pretty cool but it might be too complex.

On lower ratings rogues, unless proven to be good players, are unpopular as team mates because it takes more effort to play with a rogue and make it work than with many other classes. That means you only find a team if you can already play the class or get lucky or rogues are op at that time. This is why rogues are generally less popular.

Rogue balance always shifts and they are usually rebalanced several times each expansion. Once rogues have their op time everyone gears their rogue alt and plays and once rogues are nerfed most players drop them again. We will see the same thing this expansions. Currently rogues look pretty weak and with 6.1 or 6.2 they are probably too strong again and the cycle continues. I think it's way easier to balance Assassination than Sub and so we might see a shift in that direction.

I had a long discussion about rogue balancing recently and I think either need to become more similar to other classes (buff Assassination) or other classes need to become more similar to rogues (make all movement, defensive and utility skills have an opportunity cost). The second is such a big change that it at least requires a new expansion (not WoD) to be implemented, maybe it's better suited for a newly designed game like Titan. Without that it's impossible in my opinion to balance such a huge amount of specs in pvp. The current version of "every spec gets their op time" cycle is somewhat ok but never feels really good.

Irrelevant argument. This is about sub rogues.

1.) Not just sub rogues are underplayed. Combat and Assassination are underplayed as well.

2.) Many players that play ele switch specs if ele is not strong enough in the current season. Rogues tend to switch characters more often than to play Combat or Assassination.

3.) Combat and Assassination are easier to get into but they are still not straight forward. No matter what rogue spec you play unless it's godmode season (like 5.2) you can never play standard. Try to find an arena team as rogue without achievements. I think you'd have an easier time as Shaman.

It's not even relevant though as that isn't why rogues aren't that played. They aren't played that much because they have a limited amount of comps and you have to Play gay to do well. It isn't hard or has a high skill cap, ask any decent multiclasser.

Class popularity is not based on what good players choose but on what is considered easy to be succesful or easy to get into groups. I think the skill-cap of classes is much closer than the skill floor but the skill floor is a big factor in the popularity.
