#4060580 @Nadagast, Moderation in Past Few Days

Posted Bigmoran on 22 February 2014 - 01:50 AM

My good friend and popular Arena Junkies poster Braindance has been permanently banned from AJ.

Once again, because of how bans and suspensions work on AJ, he has no idea when or why he recieved a final infraction, which is something in itself that the website should fix.

To me, this is the straw that broke the camels back in my tolerance for this website's moderation.

Barring my friendship as bias, regardless of whether or not you like Braindance, whether or not you think he's an idiot, he is an ICON of this website. I think at the time of his ban he had 3000+ posts over a few years.

If there is anyone who is destroying Arena Junkies right now it is their moderating team. It has been mentioned countless times that moderation has been getting progressively stricter over the years, leading to growing contempt from a large portion of the veteran members.

My last suspension, which was overruled on a promise that I produce instructional content (which I did) was because I called the user Pradafiend 'gay'.

I literally got a 14 day suspension for saying 'dan is gay' in which the subject of that sentence, Dan, is actually a VERY openly gay person.

Back to the point...

As mentioned in the other thread. You are not going to charge the social behavior of an entire online community by telling people to 'stop being an asshole.' You're not going to influence people to change how they act in an online anonymous community by threatening them with suspensions. For every member you ban, another will pop up who will do something equally volatile.

People who want to produce helpful content will continue to produce helpful content, regardless of how much so called 'trolling' and 'harassment' surrounds them.

Once again, lighten up on moderation. It will help your image.

I prefer not to.

Unfortunately, this website has been going down in quality (I've probably contributed to this a few times).

In my opinion, trolls are only part of the reason for this. The other major reason is lower rated players that don't really know what they are talking about, posting something (and usually being toxic about it).

Arena junkies in my head is a forum that should have good information from quality PvPers with good ratings. I think this, because that's where reliable information comes from - someone who is frustrated at say, 1700 ratings posting something doesn't really hold much weight.

#4056233 Tryhards of Season 14 Awards

Posted Bigmoran on 18 February 2014 - 04:26 PM

It's that time of the year again boys and girls. Last night marked the end of the season and unfortunately I spent my last 3v3 game offline. Oddly enough this is the second season in a row that my last arena game of the season ended in me being DDOSed. Exumbra probably hasn't given up his hatred and jealousy of me. Poor guy.

Anyway, just like last season here is the list of the TRYHARDS of SEASON 14.

Death Knight

Winning the title for two years in a row is HEUHEUEHUEHUE Brasil DK Vigaboy. Previously known as Vigarista and Vigaboyswag, this DK (who honestly plays like an Honorbuddy profile) farmed 1-2 point wins from 2470~ to safe Rank 1 rating.
Once again, this clever little bastard has backpeddled his way to another rank one title.

If this were the Olympics, Brasil would have a huge lead over everyone at this point. I say this because the tryhard druid of s14 is also a HEUHEUEHUEHEUHE BRBRRBRBRBRasil. If it wasn't obvious enough at this point, I am of course talking about Rynd. This emotional train wreck of a human being has five druids, most of which are getting rank 1. You trying to compensate for something there buddy? I hope it's your inability to grow a mustache.

Claiming the title of tryhard hunter is bucktooth Shaman Goat cleaver Tonystyle. At the beginning of the season he would queue Ret/Hunter/Shaman for literally hours every day. This guy had nearly 1500 games played at the START of the season running only ONE comp.

When he's not making donuts at Tim Hortons or yelling "DUDE DISPELL ME WHAT THE FUCK" to his teammates, Snaregodx is actually a pretty swell dude. This high calibur frost mage made it big this season, climbing his way to rank 1 of the ladder. I hear from some of my colleagues that his success in arena is due to him gemming full dodge and speccing into blazing speed when some other mage ques arena. Well praise Jahllah, because Snaregodx won his race against to Kwok to achieve rank 1 on multiple mages.

I couldn't really think of anyone relevant to put in this category. So instead I am opting to give this award to Ssjwindgodx aka Ssjwindvipx. If you don't hate him already because of his name, this black guy runs double monk (MW/WW) in 2s for multiple hours at a time. Cmon man, it's black history month. Live the dream and queue some 3v3.

It's been a while since he graduated from Bongwater University with a degree in Wind Raiding, but Eliteqt has certainly made a splash on the ladders this season. I'm sure it had nothing to do with playing with Jahmilli, but Elite climbed high on the ladders on three paladins (not to mention some obvious carries, but hustle over bitches amirite?)

I'm not sure if he is even capable of reading, but winning the tryhard award for priest is Dibbz. When he's not taking vodka shots off his bros' bellybuttons, he is spam queuing fire mage godcomp with Hansol, lord of fire. If you need some insight into the life of a sexually confused rich kid who pops his collar, drop by his stream every once  in a while. Ignore the subpar shadow priest play and focus on the two shirtless dudes in the background playing ping pong.

Jax. Not much to say here.

It's a bit ironic that the tryhard shaman comes from a server commonly abbreviated ED, because this guy certainly has a big dick with the moves he pulls against streamers. Playing four shamans, each with a unique kickbot profile is Kallis, some idiot that got high ratings running Honorbuddy cleave.

Winning the title once again is Dota. It seems he has gated in and out of ~3 online relationships during this season, causing him to name change every time. His names this season went from Juliaxo to Cleanupxo to Marilynxo to Marixo. Either he is just copying the lyrics of Mambo #5 or he genuinley has been the victim of some serious /cast seduction. (jesus christ i feel like Perez hilton at this point - hold me, dan)

The tryhard warrior of this season goes to 40 year old Korean father Irub. He played multiple warriors this season, each time running KFC with some of his other squinty eye friends. The main reason he is a tryhard tho is because of his ability to create a Great Wall of Texts on AJ, none of which people give a single fuck about.

#4046963 Why charge shouldn't be nerfed

Posted Braindance on 03 February 2014 - 07:29 PM

Plain and simple – no jibber jabber:
1. It adds one more layer of reaction complexity to a class with a low degree of complexity i.e. skillcapTM (All rights reserved, scumbags united, 2009).

a. Why? You can use to it reactively disrupt cc chains on your healer/teammates. Allows you to avoid cc, which is of paramount importance with an 8 second dispel system

b. How?

i. Example 1: You healer get’s deep frozen by a mage and the mage proceeds to cast polymorph (if and only if PoM is down). Being the true mongoloid warrior you are, you are currently in Antarctica spamming damage on something, but in a rare moment of clarity (or because your healer starts screaming Minpojke mode “STOP THE SHEEP PLS”) you decide to sacrifice your gapcloser to stop the cc, which would otherwise put your team behind (e.g. deep->sheep->blind->clone->-20)

ii. Example 2: You are close to getting a kill. That pesky hunter that has been jumping around for 5 minutes, looking cool and making your healer thirst for a Prozac is at 10%. But oh noes, the opposing team’s shaman has NS available, and if the coin flips heads the hunter will be at 100% in the next second. Being the good warrior you are, you decide to charge the shaman and stun that pesky queer for 1.5 so that your mage can “seal the deal” with an ice lance, before the hunter reloads his rifle and takes his head off.

2. It is one of the few remaining, versatile, multi-use tools in a warrior’s arsenal. It can be used:

a. Defensively

i. To charge a cast and stop some damage

ii. To stun a melee dps for a split second to allow your teammate to get some breathing room

iii. To generate some distance between you and the other team’s damage dealers (e.g. an enemy pet is clone to your healer – you charge it to get some distance from the enemy dps who is raping yo black ass)

b. Offensively

  i. See (1.b.ii)

c. As a gap closer (self-explanatory)

3. It is our most frequently used gap closer. Changing to a root will have the following repercussions:

a. It will no longer be reliable versus the following classed due to freedom effects and whatnot:

i. Paladins

ii. Druids

iii. Shamans

iv. Hunters

v. Monks

b. It will be impossible to do anything described in (1) and (2.a.1, 2.a.ii).

  i. Charge is not shadowstep – there is an actual time between you pressing the button and reaching the target. Ergo, the opposing side’s argument “But you can pummel after the charge” is rendered null, as long as things like Soul of the Forest clones exist, and as long as charge has a travel time. Now you can stop them. If it’s changed to a root you won’t be able to.

ii. “But you can take Warbringer”. No you can’t. Your predecessors tried that in s9 and it went so bad that they had to change it next patch. A gap closer that dr’s with itself? A gap closer that dr’s with every other stun in the game? Let’s take a journey down memory lane:

1. Patch 4.0.6 (source http://www.wowwiki.com/Patch_4.0.6):

Posted Image

2. Patch 4.1.0 (source http://www.wowwiki.com/Patch_4.1.0):

Posted Image

Once again, you repeat the same mistakes, while at the same time, dumping down the game, picking an ability that is relatively easy to use by every 1200 rated Noob Saibot. No me gusta.

Wanna nerf something?

Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

But no; the above 3 are precious little jewels since they are an "integral part of the talent tree system introduced in MoP". Instead an ability that has more or less worked the same way since WotLK, and has existed since the dawn of time is a better candidate to address issues with warriors (whom you already nerfed, while, at the same time ignoring classes like hunters and mages).

It seems unreasonable to me, to nerf a 1.5 second stun with the versatility I mentioned above, instead of nerfing one/two/three of the above abilities (while leaving stuff like PoM sheeps and Wyvern shot untouched).

Your move.

Sadly I decided to end my fabulous WoW-Career. I always had the feeling that People not being able to admit that someone is better in this Game is the main Problem. Obviously it's easy for me to say considering there actually was no one better then me.

#3970483 The Last Stand Against the Russian Wintraders

Posted Batenx on 22 October 2013 - 01:07 PM

Okay, I figure it's time for one of these threads.

As most of you lads are aware of, the EU RBG ladder and 5v5 ladder are basically owned by the russian troops. Just to clarify: when I say 'owned' I'm not talking about their superiority, I'm talking about their disgusting wintrading behavior. They wintrade with 5k MMR and there's no way the rest of EU can compete with that. For that reason, these brackets have been abandoned and are now being ruled under russian command.

As of last night, the russians invaded our homeland; the 3v3 bracket. We can't allow this. The russians must be stopped. Look for the ones in the top that are decked out in PvE gear or green gear. Or perhaps the ones that got 2.4k achievement and 2.7k achievement within a few hours...

I hereby call for soldiers who are willing to fight this battle until the russians are dead (read: banned). I'll make a report form and all you have to do is find these 'russian insects' and put their name in the report.

"Hello, I'd like to report players for wintrading. Players keep wintrading in both 5v5 and RBG and you even reset RBG ladders because you're aware of this. Now they started in 3v3 aswell.

The players are:

Name: Оргэг
Realm: Grom
Armory: http://eu.battle.net...om/Оргэг/simple

Name: Вангвадр
Realm: Razuvious

They wintraded last night to 2.7k rating in 3v3.

Please look into their recent activity and their match history and take action. They destroy the fun in this game and I will unsub if you don't take appropriate action."

Remember to always include the name and realm of the player you're reporting. The Armory links are fucked when you copy them here at AJ, so just click on the links first and copy paste into your ticket!

If you really want to shine you can throw in some hashtags if you want them to reply faster. That gets 'em going. I usually do that. #wintradinginsects #scum #bug #stuck #cheater #unsub #enjoy4millsubs #apocalypse #coldwar

That should be good enough. Just name all the russians and link their profiles and we'll report them all!

Please don't let this escalate. Keep it real.

ye having 2 kicks, 2 reflects, 2 charges, 2 stuns isn't op at all, just "good".

half that shit is even aoe

you know, i see everyone complaining about certain classes every season. But warriors could do everything you listed last season, but no one complained about them then. Why's that? The difference is their damage now from then.

each class does something unique and you can't really use another class as a basis for another. "Man, well feral druids can shift slows, why can't DKs do it? Fuck bro, that rogue can teleport directly behind people, why can't my warlock do it?!" Even though I know this, I still complain that DKs have no defensives and also compare them to rogues and warriors. A guy can dream can't he?

just because one class has a certain ability doesn't mean it'd be right for another. Imagine rogues with ice block.
