#4487934 Talent system

Defensive row

Can be different, but they are still the same type
•too easily measured/compared
•one can too easily become 'just better'

Usually what it offers is a few games to try and see which one is the best, often, quickly becoming a 'need this and that's it', not a choice. Many talents similarily to Cauterize, end up being 'fillers' that just fill the empty spots but aren't ~ever used.

Posted ImagePosted Image

As CC/mobility, Dmg, Defensive row

The talents are very different types
•allows a spell with less 'value' to still be a better choice, based on playstyle/situation
•bigger decision to make, can go with the completely wrong/right choice
•difficult to compare, ~completely different types
•bigger impact on gameplay, more customization to playstyle
•vast combinations for specializations in a 3v3 team
•potentially difficult to determine a 'best choice', every choice has advantage/disadvantage, strength/weakness

It lets Cauterize and Greater Invis to be worse than Cold Snap, but still be sometimes chosen. Easier to make 'fun', unique, but useful talents.

example Fire Mage

example Holy Paladin

pretty sure everyone that plays rmd knows its retarded or at least i do and then on top of that if you're trying to say enhance shamans aren't retarded then idk rofl gg

enhance is retarded but if you put one wod rogue in a room with 420 enhance shamans the combined level of retard doesnt even compare to that one wod rogue :)

#4481979 New Ret Player - Viable Comps/Advice

Posted Kizume on 21 August 2015 - 11:02 AM

Hey there,

I am certainly not the best Ret Paladin out there (last season 2,1k on Horde) but I think I can give you at least some insight on what could work out for you.

I'd try to aim for Ret Hunter Shaman / Ret Hunter Priest or Ret Mage Shaman.
My Hunter did play Survival this season and it felt pretty smooth besides lacking Kill Shot. Can't tell for sure if BM is better. But with the recent Buffs to BM I think it will surpass SV by a lot.

Resto Shaman vs Disc Priest - a lot of ppl will argue that Resto Shaman is superior due to better healing and cds. However I feel like Ret Hunter is all about bursting someone down and vs caster comps your only chance is to 100-0 someone with your first wings or you are done anyway. Massdispel is key to this and the extra cc with fear is also a plus.
However if you face a Warlock team you will instantly lose with a Priest.
Ret Mage Heal used to be pretty fun in MoP however most Mages will refuse you since they can just faceroll to high ratings with every other class way more easily.

Also Tripple DPS is a no go if you don't want to ruin your reputation - on a side note it's also not viable (Ret Healing is garbage compared to what it used to be)

Regarding your gear question. I picked 2/5 set and used every versatility piece I could get. Reason is 4 set uptime is limited and I feel like the extra healing is not worth it. Right now I have ~20% verstility - 30% if I use my trinket - paired with wings it feels like I can do something to win the game.
You can copy the stats from Vanguards guide for gear slots you don't have versatility pieces.

Talent wise I won't go much into detail but:
SW EMP Seals is only worth in raiding environements and even then it falls behind SW Seraphim.
I always pick HA FV because it's the highest burst / lowest amount of micromanagement. FV has a big plus compared to TV. It has increased ranged and deals damage through BOPs (it's also higher damage than EMP Seals TV).

Keep in mind this has worked for me and doesn't mean it's the 100% accurate way of playing Ret.

I think boosting is bad for the game.
I report boosted characters on almost every occasion.
I can boost but I choose not to.
I'm sure there's others like me.

So no, you're wrong.

do you report ur teammates aswell?

-> going to be totally honest, the only people that complain about boosting is people who are too bad at the game to achieve glad/r1 which they have been trying to for ages, so instead of addressing their gameplay
-> look for irrelevant factors such as "BUT THIS GUY IS BOOSTING SO WE SHOULD LOSE GG HE IS MULTI R1 RUINING THE GAME STOPPING ME GETTING X,Y,Z KILLING THE GAME"
-> ...when in actual fact you refuse to accept you're bad/not performing at a high level and instead of trying to take control and fix the mistakes that you will have inevitably made in said games resort to "it kills the game" XYZ.
That's all irrelevant when you're missing the big picture.

you guys keep saying boosting hurts the game and the community but please tell me how?

please enlighten me
Sure.

The whole core of WoW arena competition (just like any other competition in the world) is built around titles (=rewards). Technically, the only thing keeping up competition is people's believe in titles being worth something. Everything which reduces people's believe in titles being worth something is therefore directly harmful for PvP.

People who do boosts and buy them are, like, combined maybe max 5% of the actual problem. Blizzard is probably like 15% of the problem as they are doing a pretty bad job at stopping boosting. But like, u guys are missing 80% of the problem. It's the streamers who advertise boosting sites on twitch or wherever. There's literally nothing more disgusting nor harmful for PvP than those guys.

Literally nothing.

Posted Image

99.9% of PvP population wouldn't even know boosting exists, if it wasn't for these type of people openly advertising boosting services to thousands of people every day on stream since season 8 or whenever.

-> also, IM CERTAIN if any of you who had the chance to make money out of a 'passtime/hobby' you would jump at the opportunity. Especially when there is a lot of money at stake for boosting on a video game.

-> personally when i started playing pvp for the first time, i loved playing against boosts, its a totally different game comparing 2k-2200 to 3k+ and the chance to play against the best players in the game as opposed to mediocre players and even being able to learn from these top players inadvertently makes you play a lot better.

disclaimer: obviously this is just considering boosting as a inconsistent income as opposed to a full time job

Also fuck ferals, they should've been nerfed 5% globally, 90% less healing, 5% less damage, etc. Disgusting spec, ten times more aids than enhancement.
fixed that

I'm pretty sure no sane person will cash out 45 euros per character ( and most have 3 or more ) just to play on racials that are pretty much only good for melee cleaves and shamans.

Also fuck ferals, they should've been nerfed 5% globally, 5% less healing, 5% less damage, etc. Disgusting spec, ten times more aids than enhancement.

#4477088 HOLINKA IS THE MAN

Posted Odrareg on 16 August 2015 - 02:47 AM

with all due respect, anyone praising holinka out of nowhere kind of makes me laugh.

can you please stop being a sheep? do you not realize these guys are like politicians and we're like the idiotic populace that believes almost everything they say? they realized the sub drop hit them hard so now they're trying to make us fall in love with their sudden changes of heart.

i deeply love the game, i'll never say sentences like "i'm NOT going to buy this expansion!", and even today due to the competitive nature of arenas, even if WoD is horrible, i'll still enjoy playing a 3v3 session with all myself. i even love doing random battlegrounds!

however PLEASE stop being so manipulated by a few fucking sentences. we've had tons of experience dealing with blizzard devs and giving them feedback and you know BETTER THAN ME how SOMETHING will not go right.

don't love holonko out of nowhere. he fucking forced ashran into people, ability pruning was strongly supported from him, and much, much, more. sure, these changes they are PROMISING for Legion look interesting because they seem to be "right choices" similar to when they removed heroism from arena or allowed trinkets to remove silence effects and what not, but again, such choices WILL NOT FIX THE GAME. his crocodile tears on a stream don't mean anything to me. please do not be deceived, it's for your own sake.

then again there's nothing to be surprised with when people on this forum that i could even point out spent days and days spitting on MoP and considering pandas the disgrace of the civilized world, and now they don't say "MoP is better than WoD"...they actually say "MoP pvp was actually really balanced and fun". Just to let you know, everytime someone will say WoD pvp was balanced when Legion comes out, a kitten will die.

please do not lose your touch with reality. the time when mana management will matter again, or when they won't wait A WHOLE FUCKING EXPANSION to change Wings for holy paladin (not a single paladin I know plays without the known glyph) rather than making a hotfix, i'll maybe smile at Blizzard again as much as I used to in the past. (of course i just made two small examples now).

Obligatory Nether Drake post. I suppose they could do Fel-infused Nether Drakes. Fel green first season and then that red fan edit 2nd season.
