#4151693 Best Rogue change in a while (WoD)

Hey guys, hey! Remember that time when blizz made us having to chose between Shadowstep and Prep? good times.

#4075306 Finding Teams/Lack of Tool to do so

Posted rob-hype on 09 March 2014 - 08:39 PM

The issue with teamfind, or Arenajunkies outlets to find partners is simply because they havent gotten blizzards attention/resources.
If they promoted arena, or "would you like to find parnters for 3v3" within the client then itd be more popular. The sheer fact is newer players getting into pvp do not necessarily even know about AJ.
Side Idea/Solution for blizzard:
I think with the addition of Garrisons they should add a wing where it only allows you into each small instanced war-room based on past experience/accolades on account/class. 1800-2k 2100-2200  2300+  Multiglad/r1. Where players get certain benefits based on past accolades. This way newer players, and old have somthing to work for, and a place to physically find players of their calibur to improve as a team.

-Picture champions hall in stormwind, but instanced so that you are segregated to your own bracket "war-rooms". With this they could add somthing similar to fishing tournament but in the form of 1v1 once a day do a tournament of your class/spec for gold, higher accolades the more rewards (free repairs, enchanting mats for recent gladiators etc)

TLDR: They need somthing like Durotar/IF Gates type of area for players to gather/make teams instead of being stuck in a chat box. I know many people met arena partners back in tbc/wrath based off player made pvp specific areas such as these.

#4035583 Is tab targeting as a hunter usefull in arena?

But how do you keybind all those for 123?
My keyboard is full basically and soon are my actionbars too.
I have regular 1-5, QRTFGXCVB and all those with shift too and shift ASD, 4 buttons on the mouse and a few ctrl binds for a few things I use rarely and also F1-F4.

It would be devestating to try and squeeze in 3 scatter binds and 3 silence shots or might my problem be  that my keybinds already are kinda bad, I feel very comfortable with them though.
No idea how one does it.
You should get the Razer Naga or Logitech G600 if you need more keys. I have the Naga and once you get used to it you can use it with the same (or even more) precision than the keyboard.

Here is how I do it:
Posted Image

This system is basically light years ahead of the classic way, since I don't need extra binds for Arena123 stuff, I just use the same ability button for target/focus/arena123, selecting the unit by pressing the appropriate modifier (nomod = target, Lshift = focus, Rshift = arena1, Rctrl = arena2, Ralt = arena3).

In my case as you can see in the image I use the Anansi thumb buttons to remap the Arena123 modifiers (rshift, rctrl, ralt), but you can imitate this with any remappable key (with the 1-2-3 buttons of the Naga or G600 for example). Cleary superior way... I'm using 1 button while with the classic mode you need 4 buttons FOR EACH ability, which is insane and completely suboptimal. In Cata there was a 3k rated player that used this system ( :rogue: Mahiko).

For the ActionBar space issue, with Ion you have infinite ActionButtons and macros (every button is a macro), you can create as many bars as you want with all the buttons you want, it's an excellent addon. If you try it beware that since 5.4.1 it has a bug but it's easy fixable.

Here are my targetting macros, I have removed the abilities I have binded with ctrl and alt because they're not relevant:

MouseWheel Up:
/targetenemy
/targetenemyplayer
/target [nomod] arena1
/focus [mod: lshift] arena1
The first 2 target commands make this macro work like tab targetting outside arena (giving priority to enemy players over mobs).

MouseWheel Down:
/assist [@focus, help]
/target [nomod] arena2
/focus [mod: lshift] arena2
The first command (assist) is for PvE, to get the same target as the Tank.

MouseWheel Button:
/target [nomod] arena3
/focus [mod: lshift] arena3

I didn't ban Braindance, but I did give him one infraction.  I'm not uber anti-Braindance or something, and I don't think I'd be against unbanning him, if he said he'd act nicer.  I don't give infractions very often, and I've never banned a single person.  I have no idea about anything regarding your last suspension, I was not involved at all.  If you have problems with the mod team, maybe they're valid, maybe they're not, but they aren't with me.

Asserting that doing something is pointless doesn't make you automatically right.  If you think nobody will change, then you don't have to participate or get your hopes up, I don't see why you feel the need to tell me that.  Worst case, I'm wasting my time.  Let me.

#4058114 Tryhards of Season 14 Awards

Posted Esiwdeer on 20 February 2014 - 09:13 AM

Knowing I am part of a community where people like Hotted and Khuna can somehow climb to levels where they're known for something other than obesity, win-trading or identity theft is something I can accept. I guess it wasn't fair to expect the game to just wait for me after I stopped returning her calls. Anyway, I absolutely refuse to become part of some EU circle jerk where disenfranchised Ali G's can come to talk about pop music using terms like flow, lyrical construction, Wu Tang, etc.

And what are you even talking about? You're right, I can't say that all of you are white, or children but by the same logic you can't guarantee me that none of you are. I have seen every episode of Catfish and if you think you are going to trick me you are wrong. You are dead wrong. One of you is white and European as fuck. One of you is like, that picture of ol' Jensen aka Wizik in that picture where he's like, an 8th grader in a Nike shirt. Yeah? Do 11 year old European kids know a lot about gangster rap? You shouldn't even be on the internet. You weren't even alive when Wu Tang or half the other groups you mentioned were making popular music.

Plus it's that whole like, facet of your society where you copy American things like, 25 years too late. Literally every single part of your society is a shitty copy of something American from the early 90s. You guys know The Office is an American show, right? And that idiot Ricky Gervais copies it and you guys are like, "Wow what a novel idea, bloke! I can't wait 'til it comes on the telly again. Mum, fetch me umbrella; I'm gonna go watch Trainspotting again with me mates."

Parasites. It isn't just TV shows - it's everywhere. Is it just a coincidence the best comps in US are also the best in EU? Fucking copycats. Do you think it's a coincidence your royal family acts EXACTLY like Kanye West and Kim Kardashian? Do you really think you can just rip off the premise of an American movie, make the title rhyme and add Jason Statham to form some sort of permanent, Captain-Planet-like, unbeatable business model for making movies? What is Europe's obsession with rhyming, anyway?

Alas, why doesn't Europe stick to what it knows? Stuff like seasonal depression, cheating and never winning BlizzCon. Even the GOOD Europeans, like Bear Grylls, are only popular in the US because Bear Grylls, like Hydra, goes forever under-appreciated by the hordes of European peasants who are too busy debating "flow", DDoSing and calling each other shit.

#4056233 Tryhards of Season 14 Awards

Posted Bigmoran on 18 February 2014 - 04:26 PM

It's that time of the year again boys and girls. Last night marked the end of the season and unfortunately I spent my last 3v3 game offline. Oddly enough this is the second season in a row that my last arena game of the season ended in me being DDOSed. Exumbra probably hasn't given up his hatred and jealousy of me. Poor guy.

Anyway, just like last season here is the list of the TRYHARDS of SEASON 14.

Death Knight

Winning the title for two years in a row is HEUHEUEHUEHUE Brasil DK Vigaboy. Previously known as Vigarista and Vigaboyswag, this DK (who honestly plays like an Honorbuddy profile) farmed 1-2 point wins from 2470~ to safe Rank 1 rating.
http://i.imgur.com/zGDDvhU.png
Once again, this clever little bastard has backpeddled his way to another rank one title.

Druid

If this were the Olympics, Brasil would have a huge lead over everyone at this point. I say this because the tryhard druid of s14 is also a HEUHEUEHUEHEUHE BRBRRBRBRBRasil. If it wasn't obvious enough at this point, I am of course talking about Rynd. This emotional train wreck of a human being has five druids, most of which are getting rank 1. You trying to compensate for something there buddy? I hope it's your inability to grow a mustache.

Hunter

Claiming the title of tryhard hunter is bucktooth Shaman Goat cleaver Tonystyle. At the beginning of the season he would queue Ret/Hunter/Shaman for literally hours every day. This guy had nearly 1500 games played at the START of the season running only ONE comp.

Mage

When he's not making donuts at Tim Hortons or yelling "DUDE DISPELL ME WHAT THE FUCK" to his teammates, Snaregodx is actually a pretty swell dude. This high calibur frost mage made it big this season, climbing his way to rank 1 of the ladder. I hear from some of my colleagues that his success in arena is due to him gemming full dodge and speccing into blazing speed when some other mage ques arena. Well praise Jahllah, because Snaregodx won his race against to Kwok to achieve rank 1 on multiple mages.

Monk

I couldn't really think of anyone relevant to put in this category. So instead I am opting to give this award to Ssjwindgodx aka Ssjwindvipx. If you don't hate him already because of his name, this black guy runs double monk (MW/WW) in 2s for multiple hours at a time. Cmon man, it's black history month. Live the dream and queue some 3v3.

Paladin

It's been a while since he graduated from Bongwater University with a degree in Wind Raiding, but Eliteqt has certainly made a splash on the ladders this season. I'm sure it had nothing to do with playing with Jahmilli, but Elite climbed high on the ladders on three paladins (not to mention some obvious carries, but hustle over bitches amirite?)

Priest

I'm not sure if he is even capable of reading, but winning the tryhard award for priest is Dibbz. When he's not taking vodka shots off his bros' bellybuttons, he is spam queuing fire mage godcomp with Hansol, lord of fire. If you need some insight into the life of a sexually confused rich kid who pops his collar, drop by his stream every once  in a while. Ignore the subpar shadow priest play and focus on the two shirtless dudes in the background playing ping pong.

Rogue

Jax. Not much to say here.

Shaman

It's a bit ironic that the tryhard shaman comes from a server commonly abbreviated ED, because this guy certainly has a big dick with the moves he pulls against streamers. Playing four shamans, each with a unique kickbot profile is Kallis, some idiot that got high ratings running Honorbuddy cleave.

Warlock

Winning the title once again is Dota. It seems he has gated in and out of ~3 online relationships during this season, causing him to name change every time. His names this season went from Juliaxo to Cleanupxo to Marilynxo to Marixo. Either he is just copying the lyrics of Mambo #5 or he genuinley has been the victim of some serious /cast seduction. (jesus christ i feel like Perez hilton at this point - hold me, dan)

Warrior

The tryhard warrior of this season goes to 40 year old Korean father Irub. He played multiple warriors this season, each time running KFC with some of his other squinty eye friends. The main reason he is a tryhard tho is because of his ability to create a Great Wall of Texts on AJ, none of which people give a single fuck about.

I get it, you want to be to mutilate as what Abn is to arcane.  Problem is if you want anyone to take you serious you have to actually show up with real wins against quality players.   Otherwise you are just some rogue hipster claiming sub is too 'mainstream' to play.

So here since I'm sure youre itching to post it on this thread also ill do it for you

It'd be awesome if they made it so that titles were promoted daily instead of per season. That way when you achieve a new high rating you can login the next day with your new title. There would be active competition to be "rank 1" as well.

hi there. i'm the developer of that site. the website started off as an experiment but in the end it came out quite good, so that's what you are currently seeing. there are still some bugs and the server is really slow, i'm trying to work these things out. also, i'm trying to make the site as feature rich as possible, e.g. with a lot of filters (classes/specs/etc) as well as showing advanced statistics such as popular talents/glyphs and maybe also graphs that show the development of representations over time and how patches affected them.
thanks for posting it.

#3892618 How to play Mutilate.

How to play Mutilate rogue in 5.3

There are a few of you asking me questions in my inbox, in-game and here on AJ. These questions include: "What rotations do you do?, What poisons do you use? Why this over this?" And so on. Here is a general guide on how I, Mvp the rogue plays mutilate. You may change any of the suggestions I have made to better fit your play style or hear your responses in regards to my guide. I understand a lot of you think that Sub is the best for PVP because of all the control you have. While this is some what true, Mut also has it's amazing advantages.

A lot of players haven't played mutilate in arenas because they have not figured out on how to play it. Here are the main points I will be making in this guide:

1) Talent Specialization
2) Glyphs
3) Poisons
4) Gems/Reforging/Enchanting
5) Rotations

1) Talent Specialization:
Talent Specialization is something that anybody can make up to their own style/spec. It gives you the freedom of changing what is needed before the arena starts due to certain comps. Here is a quick talent tree of what I am using: http://www.wowhead.c...talent#r!md|Isu

Quote

Posted Image
The first tier for rogues gives you special abilities in your stealth. As assassination, I used to go with Shadow Focus due to the energy regen for assassination is terrible, but I realized how to fix this. Most sub players use this and I would like for more assassination rogues to as well. The reason why I went with Subterfuge is because it allows you to be able to use more stealth abilities after your initial opener (We all already know this, since most of us already play with it).

Quote

Posted Image
The second tier is more or less to take in less damage/stopping damage. I chose Combat Readiness because of it's utilities against melee/dps teams creating a "Wall" for us rogues. If you were facing caster teams, of course you would use Deadly Throw.

Quote

Posted Image
Almost the same as the second tier. Takes in less damage/gives health. I prefer elusiveness because who wouldn't want 30% less damage all around.

Quote

Posted Image
Now comes the real fun, this talent with Subterfuge is one of the most used talent tiers in the game as a rogue at the moment. If you already know how to play this as a Sub rogue, then assassination openers will be a breeze for you. This is probably the best thing that has happened for assassination. Cloak and Dagger allows you to be able to use your abilities 25 yards away. Which makes Shadowstep useless and burst of speed. Especially with how assassination works. Assassination is all about bleeds/poisons. I will get into the rotations a bit later, but the reason why you pick this over ShS or Burst of Speed is because of the freedom you have to CC/Bleed up your opponents. This ability alone will bring back the necessary CC that you need from Sub into Assassination.

Quote

Posted Image
This tier really depends on what you're playing. For 2's/duels, I prefer playing with Dirty Tricks over Prey because of the ability of being able to blind over your DoTs. Also, gouge is now 0 energy, which allows you to spam one mutilate the very most, but for threes, I still prefer of Prey on the Weak combined with Tricks, it does a large amount of damage boost to your partners.

Quote

Posted Image
This last tier is all based on the kind of opponents you are facing. I see a lot of rogues using Marked for Death, while it is a good talent, it's terrible for Assassination. Reasons? Marked for death may give you an instant 5 combo points, but assassination generates combo points fairly easy. You may want to save these combo points for your Recup/Ruptures. Which is why Anticipation is amazing. Allows the use of your combo points where it's needed. I mostly use anticipation for melee/dps teams. I usually choose ST for caster teams because it's a troll move and it hits harder than icelances which mages usually cry about.

2) Glyphs:
I use a rotation of these five:

Quote

Glyph of CoS: dmg reduction vs Melee Cleaves

Quote

Glyph of Stealth: For quicker stealth's to be able to restart my openers/cc's), people ask why Stealth? In arena's it does help a lot because as soon as you use your first ability, stealth goes on CD meaning you have 3 seconds to try and get behind a wall and with this glyph, it allows you to be able to get that re-stealth quicker. So you can Vanish, open, hide and gain the stealth quicker rather than being Faerie Fired through the fucking walls while waiting for stealth to come off cooldown.

Quote

Glyph Of Garrote: That extra silence helps, especially since you will be mass spamming garrote anyways.

Quote

Glype of Shadow Walk: Against other rogues. Assassination will destroy a sub rogue if he gets the opener.

Quote

Glyph Of Feint: Against caster teams. Most caster teams will try and kite you, so having this will help with damage reduction.

3) Poisons:
Deadly and Mind Numbing: Why? Deadly causes a lot of damage with Mastery, you'll learn why in the next section. Mind Numbing? You as a rogue should already know. No reason to explain this one.

4) Gems/Reforging/Enchanting:

Wraithaur did some math on where we should stop chasing after mastery. 79.5% seems to be the cutoff.

View Postwraithaur, on 06 June 2013 - 03:34 AM, said:

Did some more calcs with a certain level of assumption considering i don't have damage sources % so i did it just based on poison damage only. Worked out the sweet spot for Mastery being 79.5% before you start loosing too much AP and Crit from your agility gems\enchants.

Gems:

Quote

Wondering what you should gem as an assassination rogue? There are three main gems for an assassination rogue. I've been messing around with how it works and I've come to realize that Agility/Mastery are the main gems needed. I am also gemming for socket bonuses.

Red slots: 80 Agility + 160 Mastery
Blue slots: 80 PvP Power + 160 Mastery
Yellow Slots: +320 Mastery

Why so much mastery you may be asking? Well, mastery affects your poison damage as assassination. At the moment, I am running with 71% mastery:

Posted Image

That is 71% more damage that I am doing with my poisons on other players. I am usually seeing between 20k - 50k deadly poison ticks. Now add this damage to mutilate, dispatch, envenom and your garrote/rupture ticks. It's a lot of damage.

Reforging:

Quote

Posted Image

I normally reforge anything that is not needed. These three, are the main ones and I'm still over capped with them being reforged. If your gear already has mastery on it, reforge to crit; if it doesn't have mastery, reforge to mastery. Remember to always stay at the hit cap and expertise cap for PVP. Haste doesn't have much affect unless you have SnD up.

Enchanting:

Quote

Helm - Trololo, Blizzard removed helm enchants.

Neck - ^

Back - Superior Critical Strike

Chest - Super Stats or Resil (I prefer resil, at high rating arenas, that extra bit of resil will help)

Shirt - Nude

Tabard - It has to be pink for assassination to work.

Armwraps (Bracers) - You can either do 140 Agil or 170 Mastery. You really don't notice much of a difference in damage wise, but I see Mastery affect my poisons more of course. I usually choose mastery for my multi dotting.

Hands - Superior Mastery

Legs - Shadowleather Leg Armor

Boots - You can go either Blurred Speed (180 Agil + Speed) or Pandaren Step (170 Mastery + Speed); I choose Agil to help the damage output from Mutilate and Dispatch.

5) Rotations:

I won't be giving away all my secrets, but I will teach a few for the newer rogues that just recently changed to mutilate. I have two main keybinds/macros in my stealth bar. These two are what will  make the game a bit life changing and will make or break you playing assassination rogue.

Macros:

Quote

#showtooltip
/cast [@Arena1] Garrote

#showtooltip
/cast [@Arena2] Garrote

#showtooltip
/cast [@Arena3] Garrote

3's

Quote

Normally in three's it's a bit different, sap one, and garrote the other two. Why? Because garrote automatically applies Venomous Wounds and Deadly Poison. This gives you +10 energy every Nature damage tick(Deadly Poison tick). So now you have two targets that have Dots, you're now gaining +20 energy every tick (This does not work if the person with bleeds have an asorb on them), but you're also causing huge damage by DoTs because of your mastery being so high. So you're now basically a Shadow Priest, Afflicition Warlock and all other DoT classes. Only difference is, you have three DoTs( Rupture and/or Garotte, Deadly Poison and any extra damage that comes out of Venemous Wounds).  Now you have damage all over the map.

You only need to put 1 combo point into Slice and Dice because after you envenom for the first time, your Slice and Dice automatically gets renewed.

Your opener is important because assassination openers have really nice pressure output. You can literally bring any class from 100% - 20% within the opener (No Burst). So you have to be mindful of how you play assassination and pay attention to your energy because you will run out fast with Mutilate being 55 energy. Normally openers in 3's look like this:

Sap > Arena1, Garrote > Arena2/3, CS > Kill target, SnD, Mutilate > Mutilate > Rupture. After this opening rotation, you can do anything you like, either refresh your Dots across the map or CC through out the map. Vanish > Garrote all the map or CS all the map. Depending how the game is going. Now you have the necessary CC from Sub in Mutilate because of Subterfuge/CnD.

I normally just redirect > rupture to refresh DoTs because it's just much simpler and use my vanish for their opening burst which allows me to open all over again and apply dots all over again. Assassination also has a lot of pressure output. Now with having damage scattered across the map, you can focus on your kill target.

Kill target/Burst: Vendetta/Trinket First > Shadow Blades after. Burst should only be used when you're about to do a kill. Why? Because Assassination does a lot of damage outside of it's burst anyways. On top of it, Vendetta is 2min's long and Shadow Blades is 3mins. You can trinket every minute if you want. I have these three cooldowns in a cast sequence/reset of 40 macro. Trinket being the first cast in the cast sequence.

The use of Dispatch, when dispatch does that bright thingy, use it after you use a Combo Point Quencher, it will give you a free combo point/no energy used/dmg. Spam dispatch after the person is 30% less health. Very low in energy (20) and it hits like an ambush. It will also generate quick combo points for those nice 5point envenoms that hit like a truck.

2's

Quote

Remember when I said I use different tiers for different brackets? This is why garrote the entire map and start on the kill target, blind the other, blind won't break because of "Dirty Tricks" Which in the end of the blind, your bleeds may have already done about 15% damage extra to the "blinded" target, which already backs him up from healing his partner/himself, but you get the picture.

Spam dispatch after the person is 30% less health. Very low in energy (20) and it hits like an ambush. It will also generate quick combo points for those nice 5point envenoms that hit like a truck.

Well, it was a quick and short guide on how to play assassination in my eyes, but so far it's been the best playstyle(2300 in 3's, but I barely play the team and I'm trying to find a new comp to play for shits and giggles). You can take this guide and change anything you like to your playstyle, but this is mostly for more beginner mutilate players. I've played Sub and Mutilate during most of my seasons, but I prefer to just stick to Mut these next few seasons. Kind of tired of playing Sub, but if you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I hope I make sense, I normally visit AJ during work, so this guide was written during my work hours ^^;

#3879108 blind randomly breaking

Posted Snuggli on 23 April 2013 - 05:08 PM

Went through and took SS's of the global before and after the blind breaks.

1st one, someone casts a spell and the grounding gets eaten. The Feral Druid also has some sort of arcane animation happen on him, but no buffs/debuffs/damage happen. Did your healer moonfire into grounding? It could be a bug with grounding not properly stopping the spell.

Posted Image

2nd one:

Couldn't see much for this one, as you were moving and your focus frame is pretty blurry. This time there is no spell animation, but a debuff on the priest doesn't go when you blind him. This debuff looks like it ticks, procs his prayer of mending and breaks your blind. I have no idea what the debuff is, but it does roughly ~4k damage. I can't tell the exact numbers though.
