Are you're trolling? I'm pretty sure most people would rather decent flowing queues. Removing everyone but the elite means queues take forever and/or become non-existent outside of primetime hours or scheduled matches. You end up with more sniping/dodging when the ladder is thin. Would rather just get a decent amount of games in and tolerate that some will be vs. goods, some vs. bads, and some auto win/loss cause bad design.
Of course, the population/activity tie-in with shitty balance and awful design decisions. When you create awful fotm/meta conditions, you lose people, which further reinforces awful ladder conditions. Runaway effect gg.
Right now the game is worse than badly designed -- it just feels plain dead. These 7.1 million "subs" somehow widdles down FAST. Based on several screenshots, this translates to ~40 people in stormwind (US-Tichondrius) around prime time hours with maybe 10-15 in elwynn forest and the rest scattered in WoD-land. Thats our "best and most populous faction/server in the US". These 7.1 million "subs" somehow translate into 3-4 actual RBG teams and a pool of maybe 30 high-end arena players who mix and match arena charters.
So the sub loss is real and its effects even more so. From 7.1 million subs you somehow map to an active arena ladder that is logarithmically reduced. I.e. Ln(7,100,000) ~= 16 teams?
