prot's a gimmick, there is no need to bash alloran or anyone for PLAYING it - it will get nerfed and it just won't be viable, period. it's no different then the clicking destruction locks or prot paladins that were 2700 and after nerfs are 2300 caliber.
shockwave is a 20sec cooldown, 17 glyphed
concussion blow is 30sec cd 5 sec stun
shield bash blanket silence 3sec on a 12s cd
heroic throw ranged 3 sec silence 45sec cd
shield slam critting for 7k+ consistently, dispels a buff
you think about wotlk and how the first 45 seconds determines almost every game, and think about these abilities and how you are literally taking 1 person out of the game single handedly as a prot warrior by spamming cooldowns, you are rewarded for playing unintelligent - and not only are you silencing/stunning your target for almost a minute straight, you're doing close to arms warrior damage while doing it.
this is not the only problem, there is a hunter. with MS that cannot be dodged or parried (just like their ranged attacks, sweet). their ranged attacks cut through every class like nothing. even if you manage to lock down the 45 resilience prot warrior, 1 blanket silence and an undodgeable shockwave is enough to send any team on the back burner instantly. this is due to again, prots ability to remove someone from the game with instant unavoidable cooldown spamming and......
50% crit 5000 attack power hunters
yes. this is armory unbuffed, i'm not entirely sure but factor in pally buffs or any kind of weapon procs and hunters are sitting somewhere around 6.5k attack power+ with well over 50% crit. while maintaining 850 resilience...
why no one has brought up the ridiculous stats of hunters is beyond me. but this is a major problem and in my opinion is getting overlooked because of the retardedness of prot.
all of these things allow this comp to work. these are the reasons alloran intervenes a kidney shot and thinks he's being swapped to, why their paladin doesn't get lights grace or cast holy light, etc. god bless wotlk
TSG is dead. Most high rated TSG teams got their rating at beginning of s7. Most comps counter them. A good rmp will always always beat TSG. A good RMP will shut down the DK and War to nowhere NEAR the priest.
Yes DK / Warrior / Paladin is sort of dead.
The juggernaught power it once was has been deadened by the constant nerfs to DK's. One minute ghoul stun makes myself personally have to use strang and grip in a chain and peel off a target and interrupt to hope for a kill.
Yes it is still glad viable. On reckoning at least there are 3 TSGS(one mine) that will probably get gladiator with the comp. But with reduced DK damage / 1 min ghoulstun and tidbit nerfs to Hpally and Arms(lol slight ArP nerf whatever) it doesn't compare to the new wizard cleaves or standard comps at higher play IMO.
At least... in the U.S. - Last I checked the highest TSG in the U.S. was barely over 2600 and my teams sittin at 2551 where we feel we can easily try and take that #1 spot; Whereas, other comps such as Druid/Lock/Dk - RMP - Beastcleave - RLS - Healspam - and many other comps can be seen at 2700+. Those comps I feel I can achieve the same rating and higher as my TSG but also feel more room for improvement.
I don't know about mage / warlock perspective but from an Ele shaman perspective. Playing Ele + Range + Healer feels stronger/easier/ and more faceroll than TSG against MOST comps.
The only free win comp I ever run into as TSG anymore that feels like a free win is Druid/Lock/Warrior.
P.S. - I play TSG over Druid/Lock/Dk due to playing druid/warrior/dk s6 but I kept playing with the warrior as a friend thing.
TLDR: Only play TSG if you can't find a Hunter or Warlock. Or if you want to play with friends.
It's fun, competitive, has a good reward system as far as character development goes, and is the only game of it's kind. The social aspect is amazing too, if I ever quit I'm still going to be in vent or skype all day talking to my friends/partners.
Pretty much the same reasons now as when I was a Duelist in S2 :p
