#4523037 eHEROES RBG WSG - Top EU RBGs

@Dilly, pretty much the reason we're creating the RBGDL (Draft League) is to promote competition and fun games, so look out for that soon!

#4513446 what a joke joke joke of a company

Posted by Borngood on 03 October 2015 - 11:40 PM

I'm not trying to point fingers, but if you look at the 2 different admin teams for the US and EU regionals, you can pretty much do the math and figure out what the problem is. Maybe I should just come out and say it, ESL (not Blizzard) fucking ruined the WoW Blizzcon tournament, but also Hearthstone in much the same fashion. Yes ESL still ran the US regionals, but in reality it was GCDTV doing all of the work. It's a damn shame of what could have been.

Edit: My post is actually pretty ridiculous, the point I was trying to make and failed to do so is that this is not the first time a Blizzard esports event in recent memory has gone awry when they actually pay ESL for the service they're providing. Whether it be WoW, Hearthstone, or god forbid an Overwatch tournament in the future, if nothing changes, this is what you're left with.

#4477943 Borngood's Holy Paladin PvP Guide Legion and (7.0.3)

Posted by Borngood on 17 August 2015 - 01:25 AM

Updated for 6.2, working on BiS gear lists, honestly gearing for paladin is interesting atm and will take me awhile to compile everything in a way that makes sense. There is not just one BiS list this season, as we have multiple gearing options to go on such as haste, versatility, and some other stats.

If I missed something feel free to comment, there were not too many changes to paladins other then these. (listing all the changes I made to the guide)

6.2 Change: The only 6.2 patch note change for holy paladins.
  • Devotion Aura now reduces all damage taken, not just magical damage.
6.2 Hotfix: Mastery: Illuminated Healing should now correctly have its damage absorption reduced by Dampening.

Sad nerf to paladins, when already struggling the most in dampening.

Hotfix: Execution Sentence healing reduced by 25% in PvP.

Pursuit of Justice: This movement speed boost is great against teams with purge such as enhance shamans and death knights, I honestly always run this as I prefer it.

Something to consider: Selfless Healer

It is important to note that selfless healer actually has a place in holy paladin play. If you could somehow master its use against teams such as turbo cleave or teams that try and oom you, it is better then sacred shield. It is relatively difficult to use though if the other team notices what you are doing because it can be purged.

Hand of Purity: The use of hand of purity is great against warlock comps, the downside is its weak against any of the enhance and ele comps out there.

Glyph of Hand of Freedom: (Sadly this glyph does not see much use anymore, you cannot freedom while stunned currently.)

Glyph of Flash of Light: Healing received from the Paladin's next spell increased by 10%.

If I'm going to fight against a comp such as FLS or WLS, I will mostly replace beacon glyph with flash of light glyph to increase healing output.

Glyph of Harsh Words: Your Word of Glory can now also be used on enemy targets, causing Holy damage approximately equal to the amount it would have healed.

For use as shockadin, the 3 shockadin glyphs are Harsh Words, Denounce, and Holy Shock.

Stat Priorities

Int > Versatility = Haste > Crit > Multistrike > Spirit > Mastery

(Recommended) Enchant Weapon - Mark of Warsong will be for haste output.

Enchant gear with either versatility or haste depending on your play style or preference.

What race should I play?

Alliance: Dwarf. The stats on medallions were buffed greatly, and stoneform is very useful against warlocks, ferals, mages, who dominate the current meta.

Final Comments and Thoughts

Holy Paladins are in a very interesting spot as of late. Coming off their best season in recent memory s16, paladins were expected to keep up dominance, as they did for awhile. But then hit with the 15% healing reduction, execution sentence nerf, and the general uprising of warlocks and spread pressure teams, has put paladins about mid tier, behind resto shamans and druids. This is not to say you cannot still be successful with
paladin, but you will notice most people who rerolled to paladin last season, are now flocking in droves to the shaman and druid class.

I promise to update the gear list this week, thanks guys. Sorry again for the delay.

6.2 update is coming this week, but first I want to hear peoples thoughts on stat priorities.

Right now I am considering, int>versatility>crit>mastery>haste>multistrike

My reasoning thus far, is the buff to infusion of light for 40% extra healing on the next flash of light, and the fact that holy shock doubles the base crit chance itself. Also I RBG'd in full tournament gear (730 ilvl) and the damage is really bursty, like out of control bursty, so I'm finding more and more that crit will be very valuable to heal as quickly and as high as possible.

Before I do the final 6.2 update, I would like some feedback to what people are seeing in terms of damage/healing.

#4420780 Good Bye

Posted by Borngood on 08 May 2015 - 10:24 PM

As of today I am quitting World of Warcraft, a game I played and loved for 8 years. I learned many things over my time spent on the internet, whether it be good or bad, I would never trade it for anything else in this world. It was my pleasure to meet and talk with all of you over the years, and I wish all of you good fortune in all future endeavors. I will still be around in the community, but a bystander in what is hopefully a new era for this game. Special thanks to everyone who got to know me personally on this game, you know who you are.

Last but not least, I leave us with a message from one of my favorite authors, "Giving up smoking is the easiest thing in the world. I know because I've done it thousands of times."

Take care friends. -Borngood

@Darkrizen, the short answer as I understand it, and correct me if I'm wrong, versatility scales better over haste as you gain more of it. I have it as versatility=haste>mastery, because for current gear levels we do not reach haste points where mastery starts to outshine haste, just yet.

It should be noted, that when playing comps such as god comp, or any wizard variant where the game becomes increasing slowed down and easier to heal (yes playing with mages is a joke but might as well enjoy it while it lasts), mastery becomes more valuable over haste, because you have a ton of time to get off your heals, where if you're playing a comp such as KFC for example, the difference of .02 seconds could mean the difference between winning or losing.

Furthermore, crit is not valued highly because our set pc bonus gives us crit. And multistrike is too rng based and nerfed in pvp to be taken at current gear levels.

Hopefully this wall of text makes sense, it seemed to make sense when I typed it out, and by all means if anybody has counter arguments or different points to bring up, I am all ears.

Good read on kitty cleave by the way, it's one of the sleeper comps I was planning to destroy ladder with at the end of the season.

tl;dr I'm playing with a mage, versatility=mastery>haste
I'm playing with anything but a mage, versatility=haste>mastery
Maybe I should add this to the guide huh.

Going to be brutally honest, paladins have become easily the second worst healer (priest being the only one worse), and it's getting to the point where it's becoming MoP all over again. The games aren't fun, we can try and kid ourselves saying we're playing for fun, the usual bullshit, but it's never fun, it hasn't been for the past 3-4 seasons.

We need some big changes next season, something the blizzard developers are not willing to do mid season, or quite frankly ever going to do for that matter. (As shown by the years of blatant disregard for holy paladins in PvP.)

It might seem like I'm complaining, or whining, or whatever. But you can ask any paladin in our community, we are NOT okay, we are far from it.

Versatility is an amazing stat for us, and for most classes by the way, but blizzard made it so the stat itself scales poorly, so you would need a great deal of it to actually make it worth taking over crit or haste for example. So it is worth having, just not going out of our way to gear for it. Maybe in the future at higher item levels we may see versatility gear "sets" for surviving being trained, but until then, it's kind of just there.
