Hi again, Eldacar. Thanks so much for your ongoing contributions. I was wondering: do you have any plans to do a similar workup for patch 5.3? I know most people will move away from resilience altogether, but it might be nice, if only for academic purposes, to see how resilience scales relative to pvp power, primary stats, and stamina after the changes to resilience on gear, base resilience, and available resilience from gemming.
Yes I will be updating the guide for 5.3 to reflect all the changes to both stats that are coming with it. I have been waiting for things to roughly finalize on the PTR before doing the workup.
I honestly think Holinka may be the best thing to happen to WoW's PVP since the game launched. In the short time he has been there he has already gotten a lot of great stuff done and I am sure there is much more to come. Sure there are still big problems with PVP and he isn't going to fix them all overnight. But just knowing that there is someone there focused on PVP development constantly pushing things in a good direction gives me an enormous amount of hope for the future of the game.
I am really looking forward to seeing how the changes in 5.3 play out, and what he comes up with next. I am also really happy to see the community supporting him and giving lots of genuine constructive feedback, it really does matter.
I am actually really looking forward to this change, and after thinking about it for a bit I think it is really a great direction to go in.
Removing Resilience from most PVP gear and bumping the baseline up to 65% makes it much easier to get started with a new/undergeared characters. If they are leaving in resil gems and some resil on a few key items it will still be possible to go a bit higher if you want to build your character for survivability.
Of course all of that would have had the side effect of flooding PVP with PVE gear, but the item scaling combined with PVP power on PVP gear should make PVP gear even MORE competitive than it is today. We might still see the ocassional OP trinket or set bonus make its way into PVP, but overall I think this will actually make PVP gear unquestionably the best gear for PVP.
