well if u think ice nova is mage's ony issue.. i have no words

each our "shiny" instant is doing 2-5 more dmg than frostbolt; mage is in perfect spot in current meta.. even if trained we're able to pull almost full dmg

ice nova is what makes us op, w/o this crap mage is fine

I don't know why I even read

#4325835 incanter's flow or Mirror Image

If you burst at 4/5 incanter's flow you are getting a hell of a lot more burst out of the talent and every once a minute with instead of every 2 mins.

You could even write a macro to play a sound everytime it hits 4 stacks.
It's not that hard to keep track of it. It doesn't change it's behavior. It doesn't act in response to anything.
It goes up. It goes down

There's honestly no reason to pick up RoF considering you're likely never going to get it off against competent players. Just rotating deep, CS, poly, cyclone, and Warrior fear is generally enough.

You've missed the most useful thing about ring+poly: tanking interrupt on one to instantly cast the other

I haven't been able to login this week, but are the buffs to comet storm and frostbolt noticeable at all?
Comet storm is aprox. 72% of an Ice Nova.
Using Ice Nova on your target gets you an additional 55% damage on from your nova (aoe for half + bonus 10% on that)

So using crystal will give you 38% of a nova in your 3-global burst more than using comet storm.

Obviously keep in mind that comet storm splits damage within 4 yards and crystal splits within 8 yards.
Comet storm has a 30s cd, allowing you to drop full burst every minute with a bonus comet inbetween as opposed to crystal's awkward 1.5m cd.
Crystal requires a fair amount of setup, requiring your target to stay in range for 2 globals after you've thrown down crystal
Comet storm can benefit slightly(likely an insignificant amount) from shatter whereas the crystal damage does not.

Frostbolt buff: lol

TL;DR: Blizzard are cruel to put crystal in game and should remove it or buff comet storm.

Not sure if people still cba with RBG's or if this is even still relevant with the new derpy 'meta', if I can use so strong a word; but here we go:

#3794943 Alter Time Macro

Posted firebunny on 25 October 2012 - 05:35 AM

Add /use 1 at the end of it to stop flamestrike aoe circle

eg:

#showtooltip
/castsequence reset=10 alter time, flamestrike
/use 1

What I'm using is

/castsequence reset=0.5 alter time, flamestrike
/use 1

So I can use 1 bind but not double tap

Its not hard. Get 3 heat-stacks.

Ring somebody alter time maxrange with haste or heroism
pyro pyro deep(glyphed) pompyro altertimereset pyro pyro pompyro combustion pyro

you will get 2 Pyros on Ring before you will have to DF, following 4 Pyros into Deep followed by combustion into deep (= crit) and another pyro. Its hilarious.

Maybe a stupid question but how do you get 2 pyros onto the ring?

#3785421 Intel and PvP Power gems

Posted firebunny on 02 October 2012 - 12:44 PM

So I suppose this is kind of important and seen a lot of people wondering which gems to use
It all depends on your spell power and how valuable crit is to you.

What you want to work out is the % increase from a single point of intel and the % increase from a single point of pvp power (1/265)

Seeing as pvp power gems give double you need it to be worth at least double intel because of the crit gained from intel (which can't be calculated in because of preferences, caps, spells etc blabla)
So 1 intel as a percentage increase of spellpower would be 105/spellpower by default, 111/spellpower with intel or 116/spellpower if you include kings/monkshit/motw.

When that number is lower than the % from each point of pvp power then the DIRECT increase from intel is not as much as PvP power.
You obviously don't need to reach that level because you get double from gems. So the point you are looking for is when the int sp % increase is is less than double that of pvp power (1/530).

So unbuffed you are looking at: 105*265/2 = 13913 spell power
Intel: 111*265/2 = 14708 spell power
Intel and kings/motw/monkcrap = 116*265/2 = 15370 spell power
Above these values the direct increase from Intel is less than that of PvP Power.
Again: This EXCLUDES the crit from intel.

Now... Set bonuses. Lets say there is a set bonus of 50 intel: You are now comparing 130 intel to 160 pvp power and so the intercept changes.
160/(80+50) = 1.230769
For example, unbuffed: 105*265/1.230769 = 22608 spell power
So somewhere above 22608 spell power that set bonus is no longer viable and that point depends on how much you value the crit from that 130 intel.

Keep in mind that the % increase of spell power increases the damage of your spells based on the specific calculations and therefore does not include constants.
These constants are different on every spell so if you want to work out the increase on a specific spell, use that.
SUPA IMPORTANT: Having a higher spell power coefficient in a spell does not make spell power any more viable than PvP power because you are comparing percentage increases.

TLDR;
This all depends on how valuable crit is to you as well as the constant damage value of the spell you are casting.
Unbuffed: PvP Power gems are better than int gems somewhere over 13913 spell power
Intel: PvP Power gems are better than int gems somewhere over 14708 spell power
Intel + kings/wtfever: PvP Power gems are better than int gems somewhere over 15370 spell power

Please point out any mistakes I've made.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS ONLY APPLIES TO DAMAGE
Healing requires 530 pvp power per % and is incorrectly displayed as 265 per %
Healers are looking at around 27825 sp unbuffed before PvP power is better
