#4023442 Aspiring to be a boomkin but I have some questions

Posted Udderly on 03 January 2014 - 03:11 AM

OK now that the negativity is out of the way....Moonkin can still be solid if you spend some time learning how to maximize using more than just dot spam and rejuv spam and you play a relatively decent comp.  Frost mage/Moonkin and Affl/moonkin are still really solid 3s comps you can play and enjoy.  Make the most of the incredible utility the spec brings.  Is it in it's best place ever?  No, not at all.  Do people on AJ like to complain no matter what?  I'll leave that one to you.

Personally, i've enjoyed being able to push full haste (after int) and actually get some solid casts off during nature's grace.  Getting an eclipsed Starfire into an instant Starsurge can be some awesome burst and just being able to use your on use trinket every minute with starfall, full dots, and some mini bursts like that can be solid.  Treants have become incredibly good for the class (the instant roots is friggin great) and makes the ability to get casts off much easier than before.

Truth be told, Moonkin isn't awesome, but it can still be fun if you make the most of it.  Certainly possible to climb ratings with it if you play a decent comp and practice with decent people.  GLHF! :)

Says the mage, the 2nd most repped pure DPS class at the end of last season. I'll be sure to take your unbiased view into account. I'm also sure your 1 hat can call Veev a fotm reroller despite the fact that he's one of the oldest warriors on the scene being that his team invented the TSG comp. But what would you know? You're nobody.

You use the word. But I don't think you know what it means. Especially when I use your site's data against you. Are you mad?

Are facts inconvenient for you?

The plural of anecdote isn't data. Do you actually have data to back up anything you say?

Did you just call someone nobody, in reference to a game?  If that's how you back up self worth, you are in for a world of disappointment in the real world some day kid.

Thought this might be useful to some folks - here is a good list of people to block posts from to start enjoying the site just a little bit more.  Personally, I find it's nice how fast I fly through threads, now that more than half of the posts don't show.  Enjoy!

You really are childish, aren't you? I sincerely hope you never get invited to a PvP summit or get consulted on PvP balancing. I dare not think what would happen considering how biased you are.

Besides the rest of the gibberish in this thread I just wanted to say that anyone who gets called childish by Urban needs only look to see any of his previous posts to see childishness.  Pot, meet kettle.

People in glass houses shouldn't cast stones....

The problem is you are losing 100 rating with a highest 3s rating of 1550. its clearly either you or your healer.

People like you must have serious IRL issues.  Picking on someone because of their rating in a video game.  Get a life.

1)Get rid of rng procs, give us something to set up damage.

2)Gut our healing, buff our survivabilty by a fuckton

3)Starsurge hits too hard, dots for too little. Shift the dmg to dots again, because right now they're just debuffs that can proc instants

I actually disagree with part 3.  My biggest issue is that we are SUPPOSED to nuke (cast) and there isn't incentive to Wrath (too little dmg) or Starfire (too long a cast time) because our gap creators no longer matter like they used to.  getting a typhoon/root/blink off don't actually give you space to cast anymore.  I prefer the move damage from surge into Wrath, give us a way to reduce the cast time of Starfire on occassion and balance out eclipse/non-eclipse dots more.  That way you have some pressure when trained whether you're in eclipse or not, but you aren't actually adding DPS (affect PVE).

Glad that we are at least having a discussion about this - I miss playing my Moonkin so much that I busted him out for the first time in months last time and thought how much potential the class has if Blizzard can fix some of our gimmicky shit:

-reliant on solar beam
-reliant on symbiosis
-reliant on rng procs
-reliant on stupidly OP healing

It's just not a fun playstyle IMHO

We're making a change to the way damage-to-healing conversions work so that the healing is not affected by resilience. The healing will be based on how much damage would have been done as if the target had no resilience. If you hit an opponent for 10K and have a mechanic that converts damage into 50% healing, your hit may land for 6K because of resilience, but the heal will still be 5K (50% of the unmitigated damage). This only applies to resilience, not to armor, Shield Wall or other forms of damage reduction.

This change currently includes Atonement, Glyph of Battle Healer, Ancestral Guidance, Vampiric Embrace, Nature's Vigil, Glyph of Siphon Life, Eminence, Glyph of Flame Shock, Leeching Poison, Death Siphon, Feral Spirit and Soul Leech.

Related, we have read feedback that certain mechanics, such as Retribution's mastery, Hand of Light, are double-dipping from resilience. If this happened, then your attack would be mitigated by resilience and then the mastery proc (which is supposed to be a percentage of the main attack) would also be mitigated by resilience. However, we can find no evidence that this is actually happening. In our testing, Hand of Light is never mitigated by resilience a second time. If anyone has additional information, please share.

This was the blue post for 5.2, but it doesn't seem to have been put on some variations of the patch notes. Without testing I can't say for sure if it happened, but they definitely wanted it to.

Yea I've never seen that blue and since it didn't make it into a patch note set I'm leary that it exists.  If it does, great - but let's not just assume.

Personally, as a long time lazerchicken, I'm disgusted with the MoP moonkin playstyle.  I've shelved my chicken for the last bunch of months because it's just not fun - has nothing to do with viability.  I really hope we move away from the dot and hot playstyle and go back toward a Balance playstyle that the spec always intended.  We need to cast, we need to have nukes that are actually scary.

I respect Veev for keep playing but he doesn't really queue with anyone other than r1 players :P

Player X = Zunniyaki, Xary, Azaels, Mes, Vexxius, Flahertyx
Players from 1st page with less than 100 wins
Not trying to point fingers at anyone but above players won't get any title with my suggested change.

I hear ya, but I guess I'm saying it's one of those tough things that you can't really estimate how people would react to it until it was live and it was too late.

I m trying  RMP atm ,thanx for the reply :)

Rogue comps that can work - not all of them are top tier, but they don't have to be when you aren't pushing glad IMO

Dancing With the Stars (Moonkin/Rogue/(priest/shaman/monk))
Smoke Bomb Cleave (DK/Rogue/(pala/priest/monk))
Scooby Doo cleave (Ret/Rogue/Priest)
Thug (Ret/Hunter/x)

Other things can work, but those are the best IMO.  GLHF

#3984379 Druid State and Specs, Comps

Posted Udderly on 07 November 2013 - 05:22 AM

Reedz is pretty on target.  Really Resto is the only spec doing remotely good.  As Moonkin or Feral you really need to gimmick your way around - do 2s as Moonkin or trip deeps threes and pretend you're a healer for 45 secs, while solar beaming their healer.  Feral just has no utility anymore, so just tunnel raw damage with a warrior to win.

As a super longtime moonkin player and theorycrafter, it's one of teh worst states we've been in, both from a decent place in the ranks perspective, as well as a fun perspective (i dont play any of my moonkin anymore, because it's gotten totally unfun)
