As a person that plays LSD on my alt warlock (i'm actually on the team that farmed the OP), I have to say there is no way for the RMP to win unless they get a lucky gib on our 365 shaman on the opener.

So basically, this is a thread mainly for the random 1x gladiators that think they're good, and if they have more than 1x glad it's either inflated or pro dodgers. Don, your officially the best sniper i have ever seen, and your also the most fun to play against strictly because you NEVER change your strats against us, and any other comp. I wonder why you get what you achieve with 5s and 3s? I mean Commix is a mediocre player, playing with a random 1x gladiator such as yourself and you think your amazing along with Commix. R1 5s? how faceroll is that? Why do you have to run the most op comp in the beginning of cata-now and still not change anything you do as a player? This is strictly for negative feedbacks and i expect nothing else besides you just keeping to try and snipe us with the most op comps just to "try" and beat us. P.S. I dont really care what you and your terrible crew think of my team and myself, so please respond so i have something to laugh about you and your comp you run. Thanks

gotta add this yeah, the PHD played like no other PHD in the world. Just the fact that nobody actually plays the comp leaves the teams that were at blizzcon with 0 practise vs that specific comp. Nobody thought they'd even go through to top 4, but they surprised everyone and beat team after team, focus deathgripping into timed traps aswell as multi interupting the whole fkin team by the hunter was just crazy to play against. The paladin played PERFECT almost every single game aswell, rotating cooldowns like a baws.

Hands down to them, well deserved

an elitist feeling of you're a noob and im better than you because i obtained a higher rating runs the show here..

and as much as i hate the threads, like i stated before, about class balance and specs that are NOT constructive and just meant to be threads about how overpowered something is and woe is me.

the site used to be a place where people could obtain valuable information / strategies / macros to help them in arena .. now you are snubbed by "randoms" who just so happen to play the right class at the right time and feel they have an expert view on the overall aspect of the game when in fact they played a wizard in s8 and make fun of the up and coming player who is playing something whether its FOTM / OP whatever you want to call it ..

you cant go into a forum and post about RMP strats without 13 people saying the following

when you CONSTANTLY see this in every thread it tends to send a negative vibe to someone who is looking for help .. would you ever choose a place to help you if the first time you looked you just got

A) made fun of
B) given some left field advice that really did NOT help you in any way shape or form

the answer is : No

you wouldnt want help from people who just constantly complain / bash you for playing a certain comp .. the ask a gladiator forum is meant for just that - people asking for help on their specific comp, know how many threads you can pull up about a new feral druid or mage asking for help on their comps and people respond with "lol you're doing it wrong" "hahaha FOTM needs help" - yes they do need help this is why you are here .. this is why this site allows you to keep your titles because they believe you have a valuable opinion that can help the up and coming generation of arena players essentially ..

people tend to lose sight of the simple fact that they were once that novice who needed help and forget that they were that same person asking a simple question just to see what would come of it..

#3063093 How to Fix Mages in Arena

Simply put, Mages are a broken class right now.
Class mechanics need an overhaul in an attempt to balance Mages with both buffs and nerfs.

There are several contributing factors:

1) Novas are far too powerful and plentiful. Playing against Mages, no matter how awful the Mages are, will always be miserable and no fun so long as Mages have so many instant aoe roots at their disposal.

2) Mages are too powerful when the healer is crowd controlled, and not nearly powerful enough when not. This has to do with dispels and the momentum we're able to create through casting opportunities when novas etc aren't dispelled.

3) You are not rewarded at all for casting frostbolt. By successfully kiting and juking, you can cast frostbolt for a massive 5500 noncrit damage on players with 3500 resil. Mages are not rewarded adequately for being able to play well enough to get off Frostbolts; risk vs reward problem.

4) Extreme devaluation of polymorph on anything but the healer. The abundance and availability of dispels from healers, interrupts from dps, loss of r1 frostbolt and winter's chill, and increased cast time on polymorph make using polymorph on anything but the healer a waste of time unless the healer is cc'd by someone else. It's just almost never worthwhile; another risk vs reward problem.

5) Mages are GCD locked while being trained. Mage defenses are all activated abilities that require the use of a global cooldown (ice barrier, mana shield, cone of cold root, frost nova, mage ward); contrast this to warlocks whose defenses are far more passive in nature (damage mitigation from soul link etc).  This leaves little time to do damage of any sort besides Ice Lance on Fingers of Frost procs or on an Improved Cone of Cold target. This is also a contributing factor to Frostbolt not really being worthwhile to cast while trained.

6) The Shatter talent change from WotLK to Cataclysm forces Mages to gear for crit in order to do deal semi-reliable damage that is already insufficient in arena. This severely cuts back on haste and other stats that Mages would have been collecting instead (when Shatter was just a flat +50% crit chance).

7) Time is a Mage's enemy. Mage usefulness slowly expires with time due to cooldown dependency and the extremely long downtime between cold snaps.

Proposed Solutions: (numbers are examples; changes made with as little PvE impact as possible)

1) Completely change Shattered Barrier so that it reduces incoming damage by 20% for 8 seconds after breaking; remove nova effect. The current Shattered Barrier promotes further use of Ice Lance over Frostbolt while being trained, and the amount of instant novas available is currently absurd.

2) Change Improved Cone of Cold talent so that it roots the opponent only when the Cone of Cold slow is dispelled, change the root so that it is undispellable and 3sec instead of 4sec. This further cuts back on instant roots/peels and the promotion of Ice Lance while being trained, but it also makes it so that Mages aren't so badly punished by spam dispels. It also makes Cone of Cold more dynamic and makes Mages put more thought into the use of the ability.

3) Add a new major glyph ("Glyph of Quickening" or whatever) that reduces the base global cooldown of Ice Barrier, Cone of Cold, and Frost Nova to 1sec with a .5sec gcd cap for the abilities (meaning gcd will be affected by haste).  This essentially serves to shave off a combined 2-3 seconds every 30sec so that Mages can actually cast an additional Frostbolt here or there while being trained without actually lowering the cast time of Frostbolt.

4) Add new ability to frost talent tree choice or frost talents that functions as a modified R1 Frostbolt: .5sec cast, no cooldown, no damage or very very minimal damage; applies debuff that snares the target. When used, the ability lowers the cast time of the Mage's next Polymorph by .3sec, and when dispelled increases the damage of the Mage's frostbolts by 20% for 10sec.

The new ability's debuff wouldn't override the Frostbolt or Cone of Cold debuff, but instead both could exist simultaneously on same target.  For reference, noncrit frostbolts currently do 5.5k damage on 3500 resil targets, so a 20% frostbolt increase in damage would just be 6.6k frostbolts. This lowers Mage susceptibility to dispels, provides a minor cover debuff for Polymorph, and allows Polymorphs to actually land more often.

5) Reduce the base cooldown of Cold Snap from 8 minutes to 6 minutes. This hopefully will make it actually feel like time is less the enemy than it currently is; Rogue Preparation got the same treatment.

Net Effect of Proposed Changes:

1) Less instant novas / peels.
2) Less Ice Lance opportunities.
3) Less susceptibility to spam dispels.
4) Less awful in really long games.
5) Greater reward for casting Frostbolt.
6) Polymorph more effective.

Will AJ ever return to the state it was in a couple of years ago?
I kind of stopped reading AJ because every topic is about how awful and easy the game is and people just cry all the time.

Imo this is one of the best seasons so far.
I'm pretty sure everyone here called the game fucking terrible after dying in a mace stun from 70-0% because windfury procced at the same time in TBC.
But people only remember the good things about old expansions, where's the time people called Wotlk awful when it just released and now I'm reading the complete opposite.

After Druid being the best healer by far in TBC, together with mace stuns, windfury, viper sting and so on..

I don't see how you can call Cataclysm bad.

It's an MMO, it will never be balanced, if you're looking forward to a game like GW2 I'm already going to have to dissapoint you because it's not going to be balanced either.

A lot of the stuff people are whining about is getting fixed like unavoidable CC.
Deep Ring got nerfed, they're looking into Predatory Swiftness aswell.
Atleast it's better than s8 where I didn't even bother to fake cast a polymorph because gl interrupting a 30% passive haste, icy veins, bloodlusted sheep.
You had to preemptively cast a wind shear if you wanted to interrupt a Fear for example.
A couple of small changes balance wise and the game would be great imo, they're looking into wind shear which is an outdated TBC mechanic when shamans didn't have magic dispel,
removing NS/Mind numbing slowing effects, a nerf to Frost mage mastery and a couple of other things and it would be even better.

The top players are still at the top and if you say the game became too easy in Cataclysm you should be a Vicious Glad who got it in 3s with a 90%+ win loss.
You should realize that about 80-90% of the entire WoW population has never even broken 1800 rating in 3v3.

This season would be amazing if they resetted the ladder after changing the way MMR works because right now it's almost impossible to break 2.7k but why would I care?
I'm not aiming for rank 1 this season and if you're good enough, gladiator shouldn't be a problem.
If you don't like the game just because you won't be able to get Ruthless Gladiator this season, I'd start looking for a different game because just playing for titles is a waste of time.

For me, the WoW PvP community is killing the game, not Blizzard.
If you really don't like WoW anymore, you should stop playing it and stop crying on AJ so we can turn this forum back into a place where people discuss on how to beat a certain comp instead of whining about how overpowered it is.

I could give you 10 million more examples why the game is good right now but I think I made my point.

Here's the updated chart for Season 10, enjoy! I'll update the chart as I receive more accurate data. This season's data was easier to capture a good regression for. The blue line indicates your conquest pt cap based on your personal arena rating (2's, 3's, or 5's all award the same cap). The red line indicates your conquest pt cap based on your personal RBG rating. Each week you can only receive conquest pts equal to the higher of your two caps.
