i think the way cyclone has worked with fear in cases of wizards has been extremely powerful at almost no risk. in most cases where wizards grow extremely powerful defensively and still have offensive ability based on control (s8 MLD, early s12 god comp, LSD today) it's usually always based on the idea that whenever anyone isn't immune to either fear or cyclone, you can just throw it at them and it's good. cyclone is undispellable, which makes it extremely easy to cross with, doesn't remove dots or heal, so there's no downside for putting it on someone, and it blocks incoming healing, so even a low target can be cycloned while you wait to get something on someone else. the same is true for fear, except it's dispellable (kind of with UA) and the target takes damage with it on. it's worth restating that it doesn't matter if these comps (today, LSD) are good or not - it's about how the powerful the CC is relative to how hard it is to set up and how it affects the other team's ability to play the game, which are both major concerns with cyclone in its current implementation

wizards having cc chains that punish a team for an extremely long period of time for a single mistake have been an issue with the game since MLD became strong in wrath, and i believe that two spammable CCs that have little to no downside are a culprit. there are other ways to fix this, like making cyclone wipe dots or heal the target it hits, but this is a more intuitive, less intrusive way of doing it. cyclone was previously on DR with blind and was changed to accomodate the state of the game, and it was a change for the better given the strength of priest/rogue at the time.

this change also presumably nerfs the amount of instant, consecutive CC that RMP/RMD have on a single target. maybe encourages using blind or cyclone on dps instead of (sometimes) exclusively for the healer. there's a lot of stuff i don't like about WoD, but if we can reduce the amount of CC available to wizards, and add more strategy to the way it has to be used, i'm an advocate

Balance hasn't been particularly good, but honestly no better or worse then most other seasons. There have absolutely been massive improvements, things that people have been asking for for years that were just ignored until now.

*Region wide arenas
*First expansion not dominated by pve gear
*Conquest point catch up

These three things are massive, not to mention Holinka, having a dedicated pvp "dev". and blizzard flying out the top players to discuss balance.

MoP has its problems, warriors, hunters, and mages have been ridiculous for the entire expansion. That's not to say imbalanced classes are acceptable, but it is expected. Rogues/warriors/druids/warlocks in BC, DKs/hunters/pallies in early WOTLK, prot class/wizards in late wrath. rogues/shaman/warlocks in cata. Balance will always be an issue, but the difference between MoP and every other expansion is they seem to be making a real tangible effort with the arena community, though it may be too late at this point, they're still trying.

there is way to much cc in arena, it is actually quite frustrating to play arena at the moment.

Ret/hunter/disc comes to mind, even when you win the game you are frustrated out of your mind as a healer since you were in scatter/trap/silence/fear/fist of justice spam for close to 80% of the game.

regardless of a balance perspective, it is just reaching a point where it's frustrating and unfun to play.

I missed the memo which dubbed all this super hard to land CC (that's sarcasm btw) without the need to cover/cross cc as fine yet anything which could possibly break it consistently as "mindless". I apologize on behalf of the shaman community that this one spell causes you to think as you sprint in and press your AoE fear keybind.
What should obv happen is every 30 seconds due to said instant fearing a trinket/defensive should be forced or the shaman should sit in at least another 20 seconds of follow up cc.
Lets all essentially just become holy paladins, i mean it sounds like they have SO MUCH FUN right now.
Whilst we're at it lets remove typhoon,displacer because when you spectral guise and sprint to a druid sometimes you miss fear because of these OP abilities :(
Also lets give priests a pocket druid they carry around constantly, just so they can completely lock down one character with fear, mind control and cyclone spam. i guess 3 different dring cc's, 2 of which were spammable somehow made it through blizzards quality checks.

I guess an instant AoE fear (lol 8 sec cd on dispel) which runs you into random stupid spots, can cc an entire team by itself or easilly make it a 3vs1 with a small amount of setups (double grips/well palced rings/hell just tunneling the healers and forcing the melee ontop of them to peel). Combined with level 30 mobility talents and spectral guise making it easier than ever to land deserves the only thing keeping it in check to be removed.
I'd hate for teams to actually learn how to cross cc properly.

I mean what this game needs right now is for people to sit in even longer cc chains.
