I've been wanting to make a post on this for a while, and i will make a longer post in case this one doesn't get the recognition I'm looking for, but basically i was wondering how we still have that old-school outdated DIminishing Returns system?
Right now, if you polymorph somebody and it breaks, he's unable to get polymorphed full for a random number between 15 and 20 seconds, because the servers only update every 5 seconds. In order to counter this, the way we set our timers and DR trackers are as if the DRs last 17.5 or 18 seconds, but I honestly think that this is something people have just gotten way too used to, and that there's no reason for not updating it. I'm sure that if blizzard could make it update every 5 seconds 9 years ago, they have the technology to make it update every second or less by now.
I feel like, in an environment that's supposed to be competitive, leaving something like this to chance when you're trying to land a clutch CC such as a counterspell or a blind, sounds really weird and doesn't sound like a competitive philosophy, but more like something that didn't really matter at the time and has just been long forgotten.
Did they ever post a reason for this design? It weirds me out that i have never seen it come up on any forum...
I'd love some enlightenment and discussion, thanks guys
TLDR FOR NISSE: WHY DOES DR ONLY UPDATE EVERY 5 SECONDS?

From the wowwiki:
It should be noted that the server does not reset diminishing returns after exactly 15 seconds. Instead, it checks every 5 seconds if there are any diminishing returns that should be reset because the last spell in their category was cast on the target more than 15 seconds ago. As a result, a particular diminishing return category may take anywhere between 15 and 20 seconds to reset. Most addons guess that a DR category has reset after 18 seconds by default.
nothing to laugh at, immagine the amount of people you have played against that has no awarness and would of walked around like a confused retard just dying without their precious gladiatorlossa. if they didnt have it you would completely smash them. its a joke
i didnt get picked, no, but im not "butthurt" about that. What im butthurt about is that is a LOT of money for a lot of people and the idea that someone as bad as Doomsen could win it just cause their comp is perceived as balanced annoys me. The LSD2 is far from bad, but I was just saying the comp is as much as a joke as LSD.
maybe at the 2400 mmr you play at, but when you don't play in the rat leagues you'll see just how boring it is to watch doomsen or melby play.
Anyway, done derailing the thread, gl to all teams.
You are flaming left and right these days, acting as if you are a big deal now at 2799 rating.
But you are not even on the first page and still a Duelist. Just stop writing...
i wouldnt recommend use any addon to track how strong your dots are, when you are a dotter you need to be ONE with your dots, thats what you are and all you are aiming to be, the same you do when you walk on the street, you dont think about how to walk, you just walk.... here its the same you dont question yourself about if yours dots have the haste of DS or the tailoring proc you just know that because you re in control of the game and you re totally aware of what you re doing, you dont need any help from any addon the same you dont need any help to walk.
Anyways extremely solid guides, cant think about anything else better for beginners or even people who is just trying to get better.
Better question is: why haven't they made it so that you can only queue as double dps? Or at least if you queue as double dps to give you an option to queue into other people who queue double dps ONLY, so then tryhard healer/dps teams can have their glorious twenty minute battles, people who play double dps can have fast games, and everyone is happy.
