As someone who hasn't played in a few seasons and dropped in to see how WoW 3v3 was going. I now realize how ridiculous for a layman to understand what is going on. Well I mean, I always knew that -- but having missed MoP and not having a handle on a lot of the new abilities makes it pretty hard to watch. Plus the meta seems to be based entirely around strong cooldowns, which makes it hard to appreciate any really skilled maneuvers or plays.
Yeah. To me it means less if it isn't on live. It's like, okay you win games on AT but the spells and mechanics that you used to win have changed because Blizzard thought they were either broken or overpowered or outdated or whathaveyou. Don't get me wrong, the constant balance tug-of-war between 11 classes that perpetually takes place on Live servers is ridiculous, but going back in time to previous patches just doesn't have the same feel (my opinion, if I were to play AT).
I'd like to see less of these abilities where there is a very binary decision-making process in their use. For instance, here's the thought process behind tremor totem:
- Am I feared -> Yes -> use tremor totem
- Am I feared -> No -> don't use tremor totem
It would be nice if they reworked a bit of the old design into it so that you have to place the totem BEFORE you get feared. Give it a 30 second cooldown, make it have high health, and make it remove fear for the next 3 seconds.
