@Italialol I think its a chicken and egg situation, I do mention the arms race creating this current situation right after the part you quoted.
It all started with an OP buff one class got and instead of rolling it back someone else just got a buff instead and it started to spiral.

@Nitric Thanks buddy It was really depressing spending so much time on it and then just get some LOL did not read =/ .

I read your thread, and I get the main points. I also feel that what I have written is almost like a complement to your thread.
That's why I feel that maybe I could expand on my ideas with some of yours.
I'll have to give it a few more readings to really get to the core issue you discussed.

This is a good point, I'd like to add to what I said about the buff and debuff mechanics by also saying that should this model be followed, over time after reasonable balance has been achieved with the ( melee, caster, healer ) setups double melee and double caster compositions can then be brought to a reasonable standard of balance when compared to and balanced against the general meta aspect of team compositions.

However, allow me to refine my idea as follows, lets for get class archetype for a moment and focus on balancing from a combo stand point. Lets say that rather than balancing classes on an individual level, they are balanced upon the principle of how they function in a group regardless of the composition. It would be a monumental task indeed but a better approach in general.

Maybe balancing around melee caster healer can simply be the start of group balancing rather than the end goal.

What I meant by buffs and debuffs was more along the lines of giving melee classes buff abilities that benefit casters in some way or applicable debuffs that also benefit casters and vice versa. Rather than over compensation, so its my fault for leaving that idea out there with our really explaining or expanding it.
