#3847294 Guild Wars 2: Guru's State of the Game

PvP is way to bursty, and there is very big flaws in certain class design.

The game was fun for a while, but eventually became extremely stressful when half the time you were either one shotting someone, or not able to kill them at all.

Sounds familiar.

GW2 already has it's own section and you don't have to read the GW2 posts.

Not everyone on here is interested in any of the games that are on any section of the board.

#3748247 PvP Titles in this Stress Test

Hmm, they seem grind-based.

PvP titles were difficult to get in GW1 aswell. I guess they just want the hardcore PvPers to stand out  since the gear is random the titles are a good idea in my opinion.

#3747840 how is pvp?

I just watched a few videos and read a little more about the pvp side of things. There are two things that I find surprising:

1. Teambased play is nonexistant in GW2.
2. People are comically talking about e-sport potential when Anet isn't marketing to Asians.

In a basic nutshell, Guild Wars devs have seriously dumbed down pvp. I hate to say it, but they have turned it into some sort of special olympics. Half the top teams in GW1 were asians... And some of the best callers I ever ran with were asian.

Seems like a lot of games go this route. People complain about how hard something is to play, and the devs kindly respond by dumbing it down.

The f**k did I just read.

I don't really get this, people like the main attack on the Axe. Yes, it bounces, but it does so little damage per bounce.

In a group fight the axe is way above the rest of our weapons.

#3745728 Anyone giving up WoW for GW2?

Seeing the thing on the front page with the lack of R1 players interested in GW2 just solidifies my position that this game is going to flop on the E-Sports level.

Yea, because R1 WoW players will make or break another game right.

#3744929 Build thoughts/Most important traits

My only thoughts are that spirits can be targeted VERY easily and die without traits, so i feel its a lot of utility but at the same time its worth the ost to the enemy to take out an extra 1 sec of their time to completely stomp an elite skill, i will say that it should be possible to use it and rez people/condi cleanse off the bat other wise i wouldnt keep it out

Well  in most games I've played in tPvP  the SoN gets ignored by teams and can go for it's full duration. Although I always try to put it somewhere out of LoS. If you can position it well then it'll never be killed, like behind the pillar or at the top of keep.

I changed the vigor trait, I still think sharp stone is a huge damage increase , is quickening zephyr that good? Also does anyone use the strangle instead of RoA?

QZ is good but you can't be healed during the time it's up and it's pretty obvious when it is. So a good team can burst you down if they notice it.

Strangle is good for stopping point caps and keeping people where you want them. Otherwise SoN is probably the best elite, group and self rez is amazing and it also heals+removes conditions every 3seconds it's up.

I like
  • PvP is good and fun
  • No gear/exp grind for PvP
  • No monthly fee
  • Can play on any server US or EU without been region locked

I don't like
  • Ayra and Blowi play (JK! <3<3)
