#4211191 How I got screwed out of the tournament

Posted Talbadar on 18 September 2014 - 06:31 AM

It's difficult to be a teammate that only looks at each game as a way to improve themselves or to improve your team strategy. It took me a long time as a player to get better at this as I used to rage at my teammates for playing badly when a game was their fault. Statements made that let somebody know the game was their fault, even if indirect, do nothing but hurt your team.
"idk why you trinketed that fear"
"you die without blocking every time dude"
"I played with so and so and they did this" (I used to do this so much.)
These comments never help, so if you want to become a part of a long-lasting team you will learn to say more helpful things to your teammates.

If your teammate is too full of themselves to think they had no fault in the game, then it's time to find somebody else to play with or try to set them straight. The game should never be lost with "I don't know I feel like I played that perfect on my end. I mean I did the most damage, most CC, etc." Sure even if you think you played perfect there's no reason to mention this to dishearten your team.

I was in a situation with Novoz a long time ago where we felt forced to replace Drmayonaise in Season 8 before regionals. He was getting mad every single game we lost to RLS which was a near impossible matchup for us that lasted several minutes. He's changed a lot as a person since that time thankfully and I still play with him from time to time. I'm sure Dannycarey knows his druid isn't the best just like anyone knows that their alt isn't the greatest. It's not like I log onto Starbadar and convince myself that I'm the world's greatest mage. This whole situation with Dannycarey's replacement makes it seem like they don't care about him at all. I know for a fact that he is one of the best healer monks in the game and it's not like he rages at his teammates or doesn't talk about what's going on. I know Sharpstorm is a great Monk too and probably an equal replacement, but ditching your Blizzcon healer from last year at moments notice is simply not cool.

Hey everyone,

So as some people noticed I didn't play with thugonomicz/novos in the tournament.  We had been planning on it up until 2 nights before signups ended, when they replaced me.  I got no warning, just saw that they had replaced me with Sharpstorm on the ESL website.  So over night my team of the last year and a half - the team I got third place with at last year's Blizzcon - decided they'd do better without me and gave me the axe. After I found out I practically begged them to keep me, but they had made up their minds.

With only two nights left before signups closed I was lucky to find a new team at all, and ended up finding a very good one:  Me(MW monk), Steve(WW monk), and Ald on his destro warlock.  An unconventional comp, yeah, but we queued up in the tournament with only one day's practice and got to the last match of the loser's bracket.  All we had to do was beat supatease and we were top 8.  We got off to a 1-0 start vs them, but before we could queue up our second game the ESL admin disqualified us because Ald lives in Montreal.  So they gave the junglecleave we 3-0'd the series retroactively.  They ended up 3-0ing supatease and are now top 8.  The thing about that is the hunter on that junglecleave is also from a banned state.  Will they disqualify them and give supatease top 8?  We'll see.

So yeah, that all sucks, but there was a pretty good moment in it for me at least.  Dillypoo/Avang/Shwayzee were about to fight my old team, Thug/Novos/Sharpstorm, for top 8.  So I queued up with Talbadar(ele) and Maldiva(affliction) into Dillypoo to give them practice and hope they would knock out my old team.  Me/talbadar/maldiva - running the EXACT same comp as thug/novos/sharp - literally 15-1'd Dillypoo in practice matches.  They had no chance.  To my unsurprise, however, Dillypoo's team won the series vs my old team and took top 8. lol.

Now it looks like my old team will get top 8 because of disqualifications.

The end

PS. I heard the warlock in Jeff/Barry's team is from Maryland.  Will Blizzard let these teams replace the people that can't go?  Or will they disqualify them and give their spots to the 9th-12th place teams?  If Blizzard lets them replace the person that can't go, shouldn't they let us play another match vs supatease for top 8, and let us find a replacement too?

Keep in mind that this tournament is for a trip to NYC and then Blizzcon, and $250,000 in cash prizes.

Hi, regarding how high the current rating in 3v3 are, please make 2400 rating junkie status again, i can understand lowering it at the first seasons, but right now 2200 is barely duelist.

ArenaJunkies: where someone will spend time constructing a positive post seeking to better the community, and, be greeted by an array of pithy one liners from witless, socially marginalized nerds with the mental age of twelve.

Shouldn't you kiddos be watching Sodapoppin dye his hair pink or something?

I don't understand how for many, many seasons these Europeans have insanely high mmr with flawless win-loss ratios, but when they're put to the test against Americans, they flop!!
2012 yaspresnt finals - 3 eu 1 us, eu winner
MiR - eu wins
Bleached bones - eu wins

Hardest BG in US - rmp did 2800 when that setup was bad. It seems like ye, we flop. Idk how retarded you had to be to lose vs rmp while playing BM hunters comps. But on misery this rmp maybe  would do 2,5 :)
