In my opinion, it is because this game is mostly social and not at all balanced. If I fail my flash in League or get wallbanged in CS I'm not bad forever, I just fucked up. These games are fair and competitive, my rating in them most likely means something close to accurate. Still, sometimes I clutch, sometimes I don't. Nobody wins every time. We have all missed lethal, we have all fatfingered something, we have all used Pain Suppression in the starting area, we have all Flashbanged our entire teams on accident and then teamkilled as many of them as possible afterwards out of shame, to make it seem like we were trolling the entire time.

Not in World of Warcraft. In this game, if you get Sapped you're trash forever. A 27 year old diabetic named Johnwald Dickson(merely a friend of the Rogue who sapped you) who, in 2004, lived with his mother Robertsa in the swamps of North Carolina will remember killing you forever. In fact, 6 years after knowing you he will tell people he farmed you on Shadowburn in Season 6. "That kid is trash." he'll say, and nobody will defend you, because nobody but him cares. You have never even been to Shadowburn. He is still playing. He has been playing this entire time.

It starts with Blizzard. Blizzard’s je ne sais quoi is making you feel like you're really good at their games. Everyone running around is the main character, the hero, the best. The same people who 3 weeks ago were posting RealID statuses about winning the next year's BlizzCon have today listed their 5 x R1 Spectral Tiger Disc Priest on EpicNPC.

These people, when they feel like they're good and known for being good, have a great deal of their self-worth invested into their characters. When they lose it's very a very emotional experience for them. Once the game stops reinforcing their delusions of grandeur, they stop caring about it and, in the same stroke, stop caring about the relationships which are no longer useful to them.  

So, we have these idiots who have invested a noticeable portion of their self-worth into a game where the outcome may or may not be changed by the happenstance that their enemy was a Dwarf. Let that sink in for a second, you nerds.

That’s the whole point I think, to watch nerds get mad because they had to fight a Dwarf, basically. Anything else just seems kind of like a waste of time.

Don't play with people just because you think they are really good and you think you can climb with them find people who you like playing with then climb with them. That's what I do and it makes the game a lot funner when you hit a hard spot because it's more "we got them next game"s and less "this healer fuckin blows must have bought his account"

Finding people to play with has been an ongoing issue with wow since TBC. Currently the group finder system has been working great for me. Last night me and a long time friend found a rogue to play with and we ran rsham/rogue/mage. To be honest the comp was pretty garbage against any melee cleaves but we did OK.

The last couple rounds I noticed the rogue was a Malevolent Gladiator and I had never played with someone that was a rank 1 player before. (Sad I know) The fact of the matter is that people don't give players a chance. Just because someone has never got Glad or been 2600 a lot of people think they are garbage. Even if someone hasn't been very high you should give them at least 3 games to see if they are really shit or just inexperienced. You'll be surprised what you run into.

One thing to add is that I really wish the AJ website would either modify their recruit section or if someone could make a mod for finding people to play with.

Hand of freedom x2 (rREDUCES cc duration from healer)
Hand of protection x2 (REMOVES physical cc from healer)
Shield Wall low CD (Can be used while stunned, up to 40% magical damage reduction)
Rets take 10% less dmg when they target someone
Fist of Justice (6s stun DR cc for healer)
Chance to heal (best heals for your healer so enemy needs to tunnel you)
Ability to cleanse poisons (Remove DK dots and wyverng sting
Aura mastery for your healer (not avalaible anymore)

What you got for WoD that should maybe been in MoP!

+ wings reduces cc duration
+ freedom reduces cc duration


and with all this shit  you are top damage :D top healer after healers, and you say here "ret arent the preblem"



Say one class that can help so much in this game atm.

cant even peel rets during wings even if they pop them while off every DR, ret + burst of speed rogue/feral druid or dk is completely unpeelable damage

and even you do manage to get away from a ret for a couple seconds their ranged damage is still better than their melee damage?

Well, that's one way to go about it, my second recommendation would have to be this.  Rule of thumb, if the enemy team has an interrupt available at their disposal you don't cast until they don't have one available, if you don't cast then they have nothing to interrupt therefor you can't get locked out.

though snodz and jaime is doing a shitty job of explaining and randomly hating on everyone that doesnt say "you're right" they do actually have pretty legitimate points about ele in its current state.
So yea im writing this before taking my meds so I apologize if its a mess...

The new mastery is the biggest part of the problem. When 50% of your dmg is passive and dealt every few seconds you cant have big burst without being op with eles current way of dealing dmg.
If they increase lava burst for the burst the sustained will go out of control.
If they increase lightning bolt dmg you wont use any other spells unless you're locked on nature, and as with lava burst the sustained could easily get around of control too.
If they increase fulmination, you get too big dmg spread from non-crit with no multistrike to crit+multistrike, relying on rng to determine if you'll 1 shot or tickle someone.
If they increase elemental Blast the 2 other talents becomes pointless.

So since they couldn't do any of those things ele is stuck having all spells except fulmination hit for basically the same, and really low, dmg. Your overall dmg throughout a game is not really that terrible, a bit below average, but the way it's dealt makes it no threat to anyone and extremely dissatisfying to play. It feels like it doesn't matter if you play your character or not. To put it in perspective: if you run out when gates open and melee hit someone 1 time and press no dmg spells for the rest of the game while making sure to stay in combat with the guy you hit, you'll still do 50% of the dmg you would've done if you were flat out pve'ing all game.

The second big issue for ele currently is mana. While it's true, as blizzard has pointed out in tweets, ele dmg abilities costs almost no mana, support abilities, heals or purge on the other hand are very expensive spells. Ele lost all its previous mana regen/conservation mechanics in wod and after a few minutes when your mana bar hits 0, you cant cast any spells. It doesn't matter if your dmg spells are cheap if you dont regen more than enough for a lightning bolt every 2-3 seconds and enough for 1 purge every 8-9 seconds, assuming your dont press any other abilities in between. With no way to regen or way to leave combat except running to behind your pillar and pray the enemy doesn't try to keep you in combat, ele are essentially on a very short timer in arena, where you become a target dummy, providing none of the utility we rely on, or dmg, when it expires.

There is a few more minor problems besides those, though they're generally negligible compared to the mastery and the mana issues.
The easiest way to fix it imo, is giving back the 2% mana regen on rolling thunder, remove current mastery replacing it with either a % dmg or maybe % multi strike dmg or something like that instead, reduce lava burst proc chance by 50% or make it not instant, and give back lightning bolt while running. This would fix the mana regen, and shift the dmg back to your abilities. Having the dmg in your abilities and casted with with less instants will make it more rewarding to play well as the dmg (and utility because of more risk for nature lock) difference between a good ele and bad one would increase dramatically, open up for the possibility of tuning ele burst to something else than 0 and make it possible for other ppl to lock ele down with good play.

Personally I don't really mind if my class is OP or bad. Fun gameplay is my priority and mop almost ruined ele for me with the lava burst turret, but wod is on a different lvl of boring.


TLDR: It doesn't matter to me personally whether ele is strong or weak, but the design of ele atm dissatisfying, unrewarding and just plain boring because it feels like it doesn't matter if you play your character or not and you become a target dummy after a while.
