In Topic: East/Central Server for ATR

I think it would be great if blizzard made the Arena Tournament Realm based on central / east coast servers this time around.   As a player that lives on the east coast i can say that it is terrible to try and compete at a high level when latency is 140+, especially as a melee.  I think for the US servers if you want an absolute balance it would be better for the ATR to be on a central server for obvious reasons.

It will also be easier on Euro Player's latency if they want to try and queue on the US realms also.   Can anyone with influence in the wow community tweet holinka / ghostcrawler about it?   I tried but i haven't received a response yet.

ATR used to be on east coast servers.  At the time, pretty much all the top teams were west coast.  Since blizzard/blizzcon was too, I think they were cool with changing it after a lot of people whinged.

I'm totally cool with a central-hosted ATR.  Not east though.

Double dps in 2s right now, unless you play a very limited number of good comps, is complete garbage.  Almost every team above 1600 is healer/dps, and attempting to beat them as double dps is incredibly difficult in the current state of the game.  Even if you completely outplay them and cc the healer hard while going all out on his teammate, or vice versa, players have so many defensive cooldowns and escape tools it's ridiculous.
Double pure DPS is awful, some DPS/hybrids are good, some hybrid/hybrid teams are amazing.  It's always been the case that most double DPS comps are bad.

vs stuff like thugcleave that trains a mage and actually bothers to break cc with nether tempest, living bomb is effectively nether tempest that gives slightly less frequent procs, but doesnt break cc unless you want it to, and if the healer actually wants to save dispel to prevent the explosion then more fool him, even more cc sticking as a result.
If NT and LB have the same uptime, and you're equivalently close to the closest haste breakpoint, they have the same proc % over time.  You'll probably end up getting more overall with living bomb, because you have time to spend them before the next tick in the case of double procs.  Definitely interested in trying LB more often, especially next patch.

nether tempest not breaking cc would be the single worst change ever for mages right now

reasonably free to cast? frostbomb
trained and dont need cc to win? nether tempest
trained and do need cc to win? living bomb

complain less and work with what you have more
This dynamic might work next patch when they make the living bomb ticks account for a higher percentage of the total damage done.  In reality, living bomb right now acts like a giant billboard that says "HEY GUYS HE JUST PUT UP 3 LBS IN A ROW, THEY WANT TO BURST IN 12 SECONDS".  It's just not very good.

anyone know if they are going to change how bombs effect CC? would be nice if they ignored your CC target
At the moment they are aware that NT breaks fragile CC, but have no immediate plans to change it.  I think it's a bit silly, because if they fix that it opens up two playstyles:

1)  fight healers via dispel cooldown abuse, using poly/ring to set up frost bombs
2)  NT for constant pressure, less casting, but a necessity to stack frostbolt debuffs and use things like frostjaw shatters for kill attempts

Frostjaw NT is actually really fun to play and not nearly as mongo as people here say.  You give up the semi-unpeelable RoF-dps healer gibs, but get back some of the burst and still have to cast to get kills (you actually have to cast more than bomb mages).

They already made frost nova break incredibly quickly against NT, to reduce the "I'm getting rotted and can't move at all".  I don't think NT should break poly, because that in and of itself is why the spec is pretty faceroll:  you can't rely on poly so you don't even try, so you have to do all this proc fishing nonsense.
