I think its kinda funny how people think holy pallies will all of a sudden be good because of this change. You guys realize our healing output while cced is still the worst right? we have pretty much no way to avoid fears, which will be a lot more noticeable next patch when warlocks become more viable. Pallies will definitely be better than they are now, but I still rank them as the worst healer going into 5.3. Pallies need eternal flame / sacred shield to be on par with healing stream totem for them to be remotely close to shamans, I don't see this happening though cause PvE l0l.
I have said this before and I will say this again..
Casters such as mages will always reign dominate in the current game meta, people always say melee cleaves are so mindless and wizard cleaves have to cc to win. This is very incorrect, running PHD you play against any half decent godcomp or MLS and you can just see how strong they are against melee. The biggest part being the dispel change in MoP, having a 8 second cooldown on dispell makes classes such as mages have complete control over melee. I have had this happen many times this season, I am running PHD or double melee cleave against a mage and we land a CC on healer and pop our CDS on a dps, lets just say a shadow priest. The mage just polys once, I dispell and polys again. This automatically makes it a 4 second CC that you cannot get out of and the shadow priest gets topped. Now it wasn't that I was cced and couldn't dispell, I am simply just sitting there because dispell is on CD and if this was CATA or WOTLK I could of dispelled my DK again and we would've won. Lets just say DK trinkets that 4 second poly, the mage can immedietly nova him and blanket healer, another CC on a very short cooldown. After any good wizard peels melee's CD's, its all in the wizards hands to set up a kill. AOE fear dps with no out, and deep on healer forces a major CD or a kill pretty much every time.
For those who say rofl S12 KFC look how melee dominated, I agree KFC was a top notch comp, one of the best. How come it was not rank 1 on BG9? Simple answer, a good godcomp, for example Jahmili or a good FPS could always beat a top notch KFC, its just how the game is. You live the burst, by spamming CC that you can only dispel once every 8 seconds, then set up a kill.
The dispell change in MoP made wizards with spammable CC to powerful, espically mages because of the ability to spam poly and nova and blanket on very short DR and CDS.
Mastery: Illuminated Healing now places an absorb shield for 10% of the amount healed, down from 12%.
Daybreak is now a stackable effect with a duration of 10 seconds, stacks up to 2 times, and causes the next Holy Shock to also heal other allies within 10 yards of the target for an amount equal to 75%/150% of the original healing done.
Hunter CC is a little too much, I will agree with that point, and I've played with a Hunter every season and every tournament I have played in, so no bias there. I think Hunters need pet CC taken away from them or something of that nature. Good teams can eat traps yes, but the good hunters can make it so they cant. For example trapping off of Scatter and or Hunter CC is predictable, trapping off of DK Aspyhxiate or Pally Hoj, isnt. Hojing the Warrior before he can intervene is another way to stop it. Good Hunters will land CC, end of story. The problem with this, is mainly shadow priests being able to just MD the trap, which is being addressed which is good.
I think a major problem with Paladin in MoP is this, the dispell change. Paladins have always been the best healer for cleaves, no one can really argue that. But with dispell having a cooldown, it makes it so I can only dispell one CC for my team. For example, as PHD we have all cooldowns up against godcomp and we are on the shadowpriest, the mage polys my DK, I dispell him, and the mage already has one precasted, just like that, my dk is in a 4 second undispellable CC. This time allows the healer to top his spriest and bascially reset the game. I wasn't CCed when the mage polyed again, and if this were Cata I would of been able to dispell again and we would of won the game. With that being said I think Disc Priests outshine Holy Paladins in all cleaves now. They have dispell, but they can also Mass Dispell a CC again, which is gamebreaking. They are a lot harder to kill than Holy Paladins, escpially by rogues and wizards. They have fear, which goes great with cleaves, ex: fear out of trap, or grip fear from DK. All of this makes discs a better option than Holy Paladin.
ALl in all, I hope they can address some of the issues holy paladins have, maybe making rebuke a ranged interupt such as wind shear could be a start.
Edit: and Before people say l0l S12 KFC, the only reason that comp was retarded is warrior and hunter, holy paladins are just the best healer for a 1-2 minute match. Which is what most of our matches as KFC lasted when we grinded to 2600 last season.
