#4475618 Shaman totems in legion

Posted ROKMODE on 14 August 2015 - 09:21 PM

There are a lot of factors to consider when thinking about going back to pre-cata dispel system. Mostly from a wotlk pov b/c honestly shamans were pretty gimmicky in TBC.

1. There was very little instant CC. This meant that the shaman system of preventing CC was extremely effective if you were skilled. With a 6 second wind shear CD and an 11.5 second cd grounding totem, resto shamans were difficult to CC unless you set up a long chain.

2. Bloodlust existed. This meant that there was ALWAYS a good reason to bring a resto shaman to a team. Even still on AT, resto shaman teams are extremely scary because of lust. Without lust, it would be a bit of a challenge to compensate for a lack of a dispel, but then again every class has every tool now, so it shouldn't be too difficult

3. Tremor totem had no CD. This meant that shamans basically had a dispel vs. all fear cc, which is definitely something to consider. It also meant that ele/enhancement could provide a fear dispel system for resto druid teams to compensate as well.

4. Earth Shield was pretty fuckin dope in wrath. A lot of wrath gameplay revolved around preemptively earthshielding before you got stunned/cced. This gave ~70% chance the target wouldn't die, regardless of the shaman being CC'd.

5. Shadowpriest/Ret/Warlock Dispel. This helped out a lot and was noticeable in dominant comps like sp/mage(lock)/shaman ret/hunter/rshaman, mls, etc.It was fine team construction and largely eliminated the dispel issue. Same rule applies to druids.

6. Druids could shift out of poly, meaning you couldn't just deep poly or whatever into a free poly. People will argue that it was op and brainless, but shifting mid poly was most definitely a good thing for the game when there was no druid dispel.

7. Druid and shaman mobility was FAR more meaningful in a world where you had to WORK for your positioning. There weren't nearly as many HAHAHAHA FUCK YOU gravity moves in the game so having ghost wolf and travel form was a damn blessing when priests and paladins were maxing out at Tuskar's vitality walk speed.

8. among other things

Still, the healer system pre cata was far more interesting without that added homogenization. Wotlk late expansion healer balance is still something to praise, even after all these years. Every single healer was completely viable while also being extremely unique. Priests: Offense, Dispel Gods, Paladin: Defense, Druid: Longevity, CC, Mobility, Shamans: CC prevention, bloodlust

Ferals are fine, apart from being entirely unbalanced in duels/2's (meaningless) , just annoying to play against as a mage, doesn't matter how many times I can get away, only class that is always in my face is a feral

I'm sorry beating ferals is annoying for you, must be an oversight from blizzard

The PROBLEM is that out of all the cheating going on in this game, in the places where it matters (arena/raiding/challenge modes), they went after the easy target. The largest demographic. The people who aren't ruining the game.

You might not see it since you aren't a raider, or a top arena player, but there is an incredible amount of ACTUAL cheating going on in this game, and Blizzard doesn't care.

What are you talking about?
Blizzard clearly found a way to finally detect Honorbuddy, so they banned anyone caught using it.
They didn't specifically ban everyone that used HB to level and avoid banning people that use it in Arena. They just detect the program and ban you.

So many people have been crying so hard about the amount of kickbotters in Arena and perfect damage/cc in RBGS (which purely the fault of Honorbuddy) - yet as soon as that program has been detected you're crying that is Blizzards fault?

Doesn't matter what you used the program for - you shouldn't have used it, and clearly blizzard doesn't care to differentiate it either.
