Im not done farming the elite Set.. does anyone know if there will be a token to buy the whole set again?

I assume there will be, since there were tokens for S1 / S2 it would make sense for them to continue it.

#4630228 Blizzard PvP Developer Q&A | 2017 WoW Arena Championship Announcement

Posted by Vanguards on 09 March 2017 - 08:36 PM

Lots of cool news regarding the eSports part, excited to see far more teams this year and more tournaments in general. Also, everything is really transparent! Hopefully they continue this way, if you guys remember the year where people weren't even sure if a Tournament Realm would exist or not...

A huge question for any competitors is if the April cups will be in 7.2 or the current patch.

#4630213 Blizzard PvP Developer Q&A | 2017 WoW Arena Championship Announcement

Posted by Vanguards on 09 March 2017 - 07:19 PM

2017 WoW Arena Championship Announcement

Watch the VOD at https://www.twitch.tv/videos/127508776.

- Happy with the 2016 Blizzcon, they plan for 2017 WoW eSports to be bigger than it has ever been

- Global Finals at Blizzcon will have 12 Teams and seeded based on their points in Cups

- More teams in every Regionals, NA and EU will have 12 teams

- Cups will start in April

- Signup for Cups will start in a few weeks

- Last year they had no rating requirement to join the Cups, they liked this and will continue it this year

- Plans to increase the amount of Cups, biggest changes for the NA and EU regions

- 2016 had 3 Cups for EU and NA, this year there will be 5

- Prize Pool will be replicated, meaning more money in total since there is more Cups compared to 2016

- Tournament format will be changed, rather than qualifying for Regionals it will be more based off a point system similar to Hearthstone

This way players who won in a previous Cup can keep playing to earn more money and also increase their points

For more information on Cups and the 2017 Championships check out the official battle.net post here.

Blizzard PvP Developer Q&A

- Leveling via PvP will be buffed

- Developers are still undecided on Solo Queue for PvP

One of the many things they're concerned about for Solo Queue is there is a lot more DPS than healers.

- In 7.2 players can melt their gear acquired from PvP at the Obliterium forge and turn it into a currency to purchase different PvP gear

- Bonus rolls will be added for the weekly rated gear rewards

- Certain PvP mounts such as Vicous and Battleground mounts will now be account wide, Gladiator mounts remain character bound

- For Legion Season 3 you'll be able to purchase Legion Season 1 and 2 gear from the vendor

- Developers don't like how complicated the stat differences are in PvP and PvE currently

- Stat templates might be added to duels, but not in 7.2

Rated Battlegrounds

- Developers see Balance Druids and Mistweavers as a problem in RBGs when competitive teams are looking to find 3 Mistweavers + 5 Balance Druids per team

Title Rewards

- Blizzard is working on ways to be more transparent about title ranges

Legion PvP Season Ending Soon

Official Blizzard Quote:

Attention arena and Battleground competitors! Legion PvP Season 2 is coming to a close soon. Once ended, the battle will begin again a few hours after, when Legion PvP Season 3 begins!

Season 2 – End of Season Rewards
If you participated in Season 2, in order to ensure you receive the rewards that you’re due, please keep the following in mind:

Refrain from transferring your character(s) to another realm or faction until after Legion Season 1 has ended.
Legion Season 2 titles and mounts will be awarded approximately two weeks after the season ends.
Season 3 Updates
With Legion Season 3, the maximum number of times you can Prestige will increase from 9 to 13.

Faction-based Rewards
Don’t forget—end-of-season rewards are based on your faction. The top 0.5% of Alliance PvPers will be awarded the Gladiator: Legion Season 2 achievement and mount, and the same will go to the top 0.5% of Horde PvPers. If you transfer your character to the other faction, you must have 50 wins after your transfer to receive the reward.

Where will you rank at the end of this season?

#4622626 Legion PvP Season 1 - Rewards Clarification

Posted by Vanguards on 29 December 2016 - 07:42 PM

Updated tweet link from Holinka.

Personal thoughts:

Titles being more strict can be argued both ways, my only concern is I don't believe there was a single post or announcement regarding a change. Seems irresponsible to ninja change a system that has people putting in hundreds of hours towards as their goal. This seems especially harsh for PvPers trying to get their first R1 or Glad, I can see many of those people would probably just quit the game after this.

This is assuming something new or hidden was used to calculate titles, the wording on that tweet is a bit confusing.

edit: new tweet from holinka says stricter metric is unintentional

#4616743 Upcoming Hotfixes - 11/15/2016

Posted by Vanguards on 15 November 2016 - 01:27 AM

Upcoming Hotfixes - 11/15/2016

Official Blizzard Quote:

Withthis week’s maintenance period, we plan to apply several hotfixes to classes (particularly in regards to PvP balance) and item rewards. We’d like to share with you a preview of those changes, along with some insight from the development team.

Shadow: Voidform’s Insanity drain now begins at 8 Insanity per second (down from 9), but will increase at a 10% faster rate
Developers’ Notes: We want to reduce the maximum amount of time that Surrender to Madness can be maintained, without significantly impacting Shadow otherwise. Our intent in this hotfix is that it’s still effective to use Surrender similarly to how it is currently used, but that its maximum potential in ideal situations is slightly less extreme.

All Legion Legendary items have had their item level increased by 15. This change will be applied retroactively.
All items from the Trial of Valor have had their base item level increased by 5. This change will be applied retroactively.

(Note: The changes listed in this section only apply in PvP situations)

Death Knight
Frost: Strength reduced by 10%
Blood: Blood Boil no longer has its damage reduced in PvP (was previously reduced by 70%)
Developers’ Notes: Frost Death Knight damage continues to be higher than we’d like following the changes in Patch 7.1. For Blood, we no longer feel the damage reduction on Blood Boil is necessary. We plan to make a broader set of changes for them (and other tanks) in Patch 7.1.5.

Feral: Rake damage reduced by 20% in PvP
Developers’ Notes: We like that Feral Druids can apply a lot of spread pressure through their bleeds, but Rake’s damage feels out of line.

Fire: Intellect increased by 10%
Developers’ Notes: Fire Mages have simply fallen behind in terms of damage output, and we felt they needed an increase.

Holy: Mana regeneration rate has been reduced by 23% while in a PvP instance
Holy: Avenging Crusader (Honor Talent) now costs 110,000 mana (previously had no mana cost)
Developers’ Notes: Holy Paladins are too mana efficient in current PvP gameplay. We’re reducing their overall regeneration, as well as adding a mana cost to Avenging Crusader, since it was essentially mana-free healing.

Feint now reduces damage taken from player-cast area-of-effect spells by 30% (down from 50%)
Stamina for all Rogue specializations has been increased by 5%
Developers’ Notes: Feint’s AoE damage reduction is intended to protect Rogues during dungeon and raid encounters, but many class abilities that feel like single target spells in PvP are treated as AoE effects (e.g. Lunar Strike, Ice Nova). This makes Rogues unintentionally resistant to those abilities. We’re reducing Feint’s AoE damage reduction in PvP, but increasing Stamina to compensate.

Elemental: Stormkeeper now increases damage of Lightning Bolt, Chain Lightning, and Lava Beam by 100% against players (down from 200%)
Elemental: Intellect increased by 5%
Developers' Notes: Stormkeeper is at the center of a combination of cooldowns and procs that can cause extraordinarily high damage in a very short time. We're reducing its impact but increasing Elemental's damage overall to compensate.

Affliction: The damage caused by dispelling Unstable Affliction has been increased by 100%
Destruction: Chaos Bolt damage bonus against players increased to 35% (was previously increased by 20%)
Developers’ Notes: Patch 7.1 changed the design of Unstable Affliction, and our initial tuning on the dispel damage was simply too low. For Destruction, we want spending Soul Shards on Chaos Bolt to feel rewarding when weighed against the alternatives.
