#4152770 Seems legit

Posted Ayrasaurus on 23 June 2014 - 05:36 PM

I actually made an appearance at DH2014 and met up with Solo (the warlock) and his 3v3 team there, I talked about the game from my perspective as a autistic player and we actually shared a lot of opinions. All I'm saying is a lot of people will be VERY surprised about the future of his rating in the coming weeks :)

#4158897 Incredible amount of crying

Posted washboardabsx on 29 June 2014 - 03:26 PM

I can't believe people are crying about the catch-up cap. Wow you have 20k to cap? Be glad they even allow catching up now. Does everyone forget a mere season or two ago when there wasn't any catching up? Or how about all the BS pve gear? Yep that's gone too.

I agree deserter sucks for I indeed tanked my 2s rating too. But it had to be implemented. 2s is the gateway to arena and 1100's should never be facing gladiators. We want more participation in arena and by having them hazed by glads in the 1100 bracket is counterproductive. It turns many away.

And flavour. Stop. You're too white for that sh*t. And frankly no one respects it. You sound like a wanna-be vanilla ice ice tea ice cube gangsta fruitcake. Right when Regentlord left the flame is carried by someone else, you...seriously why does someone always fill in the others place since I can remember?

Finally @ Lolflay...what's happened? Since TBC you were my priest hero always adding great input to the game. I loved reading your insightful posts and you definitely made me want to be like you on my priest. But ever since you've left the game all your posts seem to be trolling or complaints. Like an old renowned star that's become senile about the sport they've played. It's depressing.

#4088668 The Current MMR/Personal Rating +0 thing explained.

Posted Bigmoran on 29 March 2014 - 04:32 AM

The change is intentional, I made a post as to why this is a terrible idea. Please offer your feedback (and your rep).

PLEASE BUMP: http://us.battle.net...pic/12329612883

As many people have pointed out on this forum, there is currently a change to MMR and CR that causes some players to not gain rating on wins in PvP. This change has effected every bracket of arena aswell as RBGs.

A blue post on the matter explained:

"We recently implemented a hotfix to address a bug that allowed Personal Ratings to exceed Matchmaking Rating. As a result, some players may notice that they do not gain or lose Personal Rating in the wake of a match. As more matches are played, these ratings will normalize and converge to the correct rating, and Personal Rating will then rise or drop accordingly.

In the meantime, we will continue to monitor the situation and make further adjustments if necessary."

From my understanding, the hotfix was implemented to help remedy some of the MMR problems at the beginning of the season, where players were not losing MMR and their ratings were getting considerably high in a short period of time. The change, from what I gather, prevents you from gaining personal rating until your MMR catches up to that rating.

So, say you are 2500 CR in 3v3 and you win a game at 2400 MMR, you will not gain any points.

If you are 2500 CR in 3v3 and lose a game at 2400 MMR, you will lose points.

The problem with this change is that it has completely ruined incentive for higher rated players to queue arena/RBGS. It is highly unlikely that the players at the top of the ladder queue at an MMR that is higher than their personal rating. Therefore, they have NO reason to queue outside of their willingness to compete. In fact, they will be penalized for queuing as if they lose (which is inevitable) they will go down in rating that they will be unable to get back for a considerable amount of time.

This creates not only a mathematical dilemma for these players, but also a psychological problem as it is very hard to continue queing in an environment in which you don't see positive gains.

The MMR problem is considerably more complicated in RBGs, as the highest RBG team that ques on a consistent basis is below 2200 MMR. Most players, especially on the higher end of the bracket, have personal ratings that DRAMATICALLY exceed their teams MMR. I have experience playing against Abn's team. He is ~2500 CR and most of his teammates are at around 2200-2400 CR. Thier team mmr, despite their players individual high ratings, is never above 2.2k. Teams like ABN have very little incentive to que as if they do actually play the game, they will lose 200-300 rating before they are able to go back up again.

What would have been a better change?

Instead of penalizing the high end of the ladder for queuing (mind you PVP is top down - in that inactivity at the top creates rating deflation for everything below it) penalize not queuing. MMR should have been INFLATED for those teams that queue. Create a system (much like the one we saw in S13) where there is incentive to queue regularly throughout the season. People LIKE to see high ratings. It will be impossible (at least for the time being) for some players to reach 2.2k in RBGS, and probably 2500 in arena.

#4058807 Don't be an asshole

Posted Nadagast on 21 February 2014 - 12:09 AM

I'm sure everyone has seen how much trolling and general douchebaggery have infected AJ.  I'd like it to stop.

Trolling and assholery puts AJ on a downward spiral.  People troll/asshole-it-up, which leads to less people using this as a forum for serious/reasonable discussion, which leads to more trolling, etc.  AJ always was and continues to be the most popular place for new players to get into the PvP scene.  Any community relies on new members to sustain itself--by making this place a wasteland we are doing nothing but ensuring our own demise.

Before you post a reply or topic, ask yourself: am I being an asshole?  If you are, change your post to take a more educational tone.  If you're feeling heated about something, take some time to cool off before replying.  Don't immediately assume someone is trolling you, some people are just not very knowledgeable.  Worst case, if you reply in a calm educational manner, you've posted something informative for the hundreds or thousands of lurkers who will view your reply.  These are generally newer PvPers, and anything you do to help sustain them as arena players helps all of us.

On any set of forums, it's easy to forget that almost all of the people reading it are lurkers, who will never make any posts.  Lurkers cannot be trolls, they can't be assholes, they are just here to learn or read interesting things.  Post interesting, informative content.  Post drama if you want, but don't be an asshole.  Fuck the trolls, post for the lurkers.

#4056233 Tryhards of Season 14 Awards

Posted Bigmoran on 18 February 2014 - 04:26 PM

It's that time of the year again boys and girls. Last night marked the end of the season and unfortunately I spent my last 3v3 game offline. Oddly enough this is the second season in a row that my last arena game of the season ended in me being DDOSed. Exumbra probably hasn't given up his hatred and jealousy of me. Poor guy.

Anyway, just like last season here is the list of the TRYHARDS of SEASON 14.

Death Knight

Winning the title for two years in a row is HEUHEUEHUEHUE Brasil DK Vigaboy. Previously known as Vigarista and Vigaboyswag, this DK (who honestly plays like an Honorbuddy profile) farmed 1-2 point wins from 2470~ to safe Rank 1 rating.
http://i.imgur.com/zGDDvhU.png
Once again, this clever little bastard has backpeddled his way to another rank one title.

Druid

If this were the Olympics, Brasil would have a huge lead over everyone at this point. I say this because the tryhard druid of s14 is also a HEUHEUEHUEHEUHE BRBRRBRBRBRasil. If it wasn't obvious enough at this point, I am of course talking about Rynd. This emotional train wreck of a human being has five druids, most of which are getting rank 1. You trying to compensate for something there buddy? I hope it's your inability to grow a mustache.

Hunter

Claiming the title of tryhard hunter is bucktooth Shaman Goat cleaver Tonystyle. At the beginning of the season he would queue Ret/Hunter/Shaman for literally hours every day. This guy had nearly 1500 games played at the START of the season running only ONE comp.

Mage

When he's not making donuts at Tim Hortons or yelling "DUDE DISPELL ME WHAT THE FUCK" to his teammates, Snaregodx is actually a pretty swell dude. This high calibur frost mage made it big this season, climbing his way to rank 1 of the ladder. I hear from some of my colleagues that his success in arena is due to him gemming full dodge and speccing into blazing speed when some other mage ques arena. Well praise Jahllah, because Snaregodx won his race against to Kwok to achieve rank 1 on multiple mages.

Monk

I couldn't really think of anyone relevant to put in this category. So instead I am opting to give this award to Ssjwindgodx aka Ssjwindvipx. If you don't hate him already because of his name, this black guy runs double monk (MW/WW) in 2s for multiple hours at a time. Cmon man, it's black history month. Live the dream and queue some 3v3.

Paladin

It's been a while since he graduated from Bongwater University with a degree in Wind Raiding, but Eliteqt has certainly made a splash on the ladders this season. I'm sure it had nothing to do with playing with Jahmilli, but Elite climbed high on the ladders on three paladins (not to mention some obvious carries, but hustle over bitches amirite?)

Priest

I'm not sure if he is even capable of reading, but winning the tryhard award for priest is Dibbz. When he's not taking vodka shots off his bros' bellybuttons, he is spam queuing fire mage godcomp with Hansol, lord of fire. If you need some insight into the life of a sexually confused rich kid who pops his collar, drop by his stream every once  in a while. Ignore the subpar shadow priest play and focus on the two shirtless dudes in the background playing ping pong.

Rogue

Jax. Not much to say here.

Shaman

It's a bit ironic that the tryhard shaman comes from a server commonly abbreviated ED, because this guy certainly has a big dick with the moves he pulls against streamers. Playing four shamans, each with a unique kickbot profile is Kallis, some idiot that got high ratings running Honorbuddy cleave.

Warlock

Winning the title once again is Dota. It seems he has gated in and out of ~3 online relationships during this season, causing him to name change every time. His names this season went from Juliaxo to Cleanupxo to Marilynxo to Marixo. Either he is just copying the lyrics of Mambo #5 or he genuinley has been the victim of some serious /cast seduction. (jesus christ i feel like Perez hilton at this point - hold me, dan)

Warrior

The tryhard warrior of this season goes to 40 year old Korean father Irub. He played multiple warriors this season, each time running KFC with some of his other squinty eye friends. The main reason he is a tryhard tho is because of his ability to create a Great Wall of Texts on AJ, none of which people give a single fuck about.

Guys seriously do you even know how many times he has saved the raid group cause of the second interrupt? Its mindblowing when you think about it, I dont think we can fully understand the complex situation of PvE interrupts. The mindgame between the raid boss and tank must be exhausting with all the jukes

#4045178 Nerve Strike NERF on PTR

update on ptr.. to make things easier it is now called Nerf Strike

#4045163 Nerve Strike NERF on PTR

Posted Selicia on 31 January 2014 - 09:47 PM

Needs more nerf bat:

1. Remove MS effects. They are homogenizing everything else and don't balance around the mechanic anymore. Nobody is going to want 65% BF with Warrior MS. They can gut the other ones too.
2. Remove NS from the fucking Shaman talent tree. Make it baseline for Resto. Ele can cast Hex, and Enhance already has a joke of a system to make it instant already so NS was redundant.
3. Nerf self/off healing for hybrids and pure dps. I hate how this game has become guild wars 2. You have a healer for a reason.
4. Nerf the absurd amount of positioning/movement abilities they added.
5. Remove subterfuge.
6. Nerf tricks damage bonus against players.
7. Nerf the amount of free avoidance melee have. It's annoying to watch them RNG avoid disarms and shit on each other.

Someone else add more. The list can go on forever.

Oh, and..

Make every healer's 4pc set also reduce the cooldown of cleanse by X seconds (at least 4).
