#4518372 Ban advertisements of boosting sites?

Posted Voksen on 11 October 2015 - 08:37 AM

The time to earn respect and prestige from ratings and titles was back years ago.   Thats before most of these kiddies even played video games.  Sorry S17 boosters but you're a bit late to the party.

I somehow doubt there is much of a market for boosts with how shitty WoD/WoW are.  Boosting as a thing in general games?  Sure, I'd even expect it to be on the rise with the growth of 'gaming culture' and esports.  But boosting in WoW -- talk about weak.  Its a 10 year old game that is dying and on the way out.  wtb supply/demand data.

So I just don't buy the "easy money" argument.   Maybe somewhat easy money if you're 14 y.o. and skilled at this game and basically unskilled at everything else in life.  Seriously.  Remember that by getting good at a video game you're getting bad somewhere else.  No free lunch.  For what life/time is worth, you'd be better off logging hours at IT/networking -- i heard you can make a killing ddos'ing entire RBG teams.  Or coding bots.  Or learning Russian.  All these services are in demand and the skills are transferable.

Oh and don't get me started about how elo ratings work.  As others have pointed out, boosting changes the cutoffs and percentages.  So you just make shit toxic for everyone.  Its a clear violation of the ToS and I'd be careful advocating it even on AJ.

Right now there's just no incentive not to boost
other then hurting everyone that enjoys pvp and doesn't happen to be in your circle of friends selling boosts, by destroying the value of pvp rewards

but yep, other then at, absolutely no incentive at all ;)

Remembering that he had logged his own account from his girlfriends computer earlier that week, he asked his girlfriend to check her e-mail aswell, and just as expected she had also received a warning and what I believe was a message saying she would be ineligible to receive any titles this season.
I still don't understand why logging onto his own account on a second pc one room away from his usual pc, using the same internet connection as his usual pc, would result in the usual user of the second pc receiving an email warning for account sharing, since their account/email address has absolutely nothing to do with what happened?

thats dumb.

it was dumb of them to remove titles from 2s aswell. every bracket is competitive. the only reason to shove people into the small box of 3v3 is to streamline the game to become more of an esport.

the only reason 5s has a bad image is because of the cheating minority (myself included). there are fewer teams and more cheating teams, so naturally its the bracket everyone points to when they think of generally scummery. if you ignore the cheaters and focus on the actual competitive aspect of 5s, its definitely a bracket that should be respected. overall there are less balance issues in 5s (although R M SP RSHAM x is 100% the best comp), and many different comps can be successful.

and of course someone will call me out for being bias or something, thats fine--i accept that. of the 2 rank 1 titles i've gotten this expansion, 1 has been from 5s. i always push for rating in the bracket im interested in. at the moment that happens to be 5s. lately i've had no motivation to push rating in 3s.

it just sickens me to see the naivety of the general AJ population and PvP population as a whole. the anti 2v2, 5v5, and RBG attitudes of this community are really bad for the game itself. if you like WoW and want to be playing it in the future, you should try playing every bracket. the same thing goes for blizzard. i think they might be killing an already shrinking pvp population with this change.

hate to say it but I agree with moran

it's a video game who cares, let people play the bracket they wana play and get rewarded for their efforts

they should really keep it and bring 2s titles back aswell

that's not to say I don't make fun of the people that get their titles in those brackets but like I said it's a video game who really gives a shit let people have their fun.

Why is no one crying for charge

I played alpha for a couple of days and we also did a lot of war games (mostly WLD vs RMP, WD vs RM,  WD vs MP). The charge change fits the other mobility changes. Personally I played with 20 sec charge and it absolutely did not feel bad. In Wotlk or TBC we had to play with charge + intercept. Now we have charge and heroic leap which gives us similar mobility, if you add storm bolt to it we actually have similar range control, too. It really doesn't feel bad and with less instants in the game, it doesn't hurt the overall performance at all if you have to walk for 4-5 yards instead. The only thing that hurts is when you waste your gap closer but who would waste it? ;-)

About the CS change: Unless you're a tank, you only have 3% parry. All dodge is gone except evasion but due to the lack of overpower, evasion is finally a cooldown. So basically unless you're lacking awareness and CS into die by the sword / evasion, you're pretty much sure it'll land.

Gladiatorstance is more of a fun thing. I did a few duels vs tanks and it's not impossible to beat them. Gladiatorstance is more about being a viable dps in your raid (the dps actually looks decent, about 70-85% of a pure dps). Sure it takes a bit longer to kill a tank in gladiatorstance than it does to kill an arms warrior but keep in mind that second wind is basically gone, i.e. you don't have to worry to kill through it.

If you wonder about self healing: enraged regen looks very good atm. 2nd wind converts dmg to healing but the problem is.. you have to do dmg, so it's not viable against range classes or if you're stuck in a stun. Same with impending victory. The 20% healing done by enraged regen feel good now that battle fatigue is gone in WoD. :-)

About the stancedance thingy: I like that it's back. Last time I played it wasn't live yet but from what I've seen it won't hurt you. The game already felt very smooth but something was missing. I think stance dancing will fit into the "new/old warrior" thing they're trying to build.

The new mastery looks very good and is a lot more fun to play. No more small hits. I really like the idea of having a few big hitting abilities, after all we're using a 2handed weapon and not two 1handed swords. :-)

I played warrior (arms and prot), priest (all three specs). mage (fire) and rogue on alpha. I have to say that warrior is in a fairly decent spot. It's not a mindless class at all on alpha. Sure you lose some of your abilities but because you lost some, you actually have to think about whether you want to use (or waste) your other cds. less defensive/offensive cds makes for a much cleaner gameplay and you know that as soon as you managed to get a major defensive cd w/o using your offensive cds, the enemy will be in trouble. It's not like today "oh i forced parry nvm he still has wall". It feels much cleaner.

One last thing about the stance dancing: I think we have to "d up" again if we expect burst or stun / cc on us. We can't use rallying cry in bstance so having a good understanding of the current state of the arena game will be crucial. Are we offensive? Are we defensive? Am I on stun dr? It's not viable to sit in dstance all the time, you'll sacrifice too much dmg.

Some people are just new to the game and they are learning, or they are simply not good That's why they are at 1k mmr and they play random specs.
What is really impressive is, during the 15th season of this game, the 1k mmr gameplay of the opponent causes you to have orgasms and hysteric laughter of 3 minutes, and you proudly record/share it.

"I think at the time of his ban he had 3000+ posts over a few years."

Post number does not make you less likely to receive an infraction point. Braindance was banned due to 7 different incidents over these few years. Almost all of them are insults that were only worth 1 point, but it added up. I think his combative nature has eventually led to this.

Insulting a user is meant to receive an infraction point. It's a very plain and simple rule. You can question what they're posting, but don't attack them personally. I think it's a very simple rule and easy to follow.

"For every member you ban, another will pop up who will do something equally volatile."

Not banning anyone at all is not an answer. Rules can control a certain degree / amount of toxicity and without rules nothing can be progressed.

We appreciate everyone who is concerned about the site. But please work with us rather than AGAINST us. The mods aren't out here to make the site crap. Granted we are humans and humans can make mistakes. If someone is openly homosexual and you call them "gay", yes you probably shouldn't receive an infraction point for that. Every infraction point a mod gives can be seen by the other mods. If you feel a certain ban / infraction wasn't right feel free to contact us. Do not post about it, frankly posts made questioning mods should receive an infraction itself including this one. We're letting this one past this time because we realize AJ is in an awkward spot in regards to what it was built upon.

We will continue to try to make the best choices but we need the users to help us with it.

-Braindance won't be perma-banned but rather suspended. In regards to what he received a point for he can contact me if he wants the details. However keep in mind that is how the system works. With enough minor incidents you can be banned or suspended. Just please try to post without attacking anyone!
